OK, anyone that wants to get into the next Stock tourney in October with the German league PM me. I'm pretty busy right now but I'll start getting things sorted. So don't get worried if it takes awhile for me to get back to you.

2PM EST is the start time to synch with the Germans so take that into account.

As for "Stock" mechs, I note that in the clip that was posted one of his opponents had a hero mech. Hardly "Stock" there...

I suppose he could have re-equipped it to simulate a "stock" mech (Like taking a non-jumping Highlander, giving it 2 ERPPSs, 2 MLSRS, and an AC5 and calling it a "Marauder")

They have a list of builds they can use.

The Yen Lo Wang was allowed during the tourney because it use as MWO stock mech only Lvl1 tech.

In october we will get also 4 new mech chassis for the mates that bought the phoenix packet. Of course not every player have them at this time, like the Yen Lo Wang now. But if they use Lvl1 Tech they will be in the tournament.

i like the mech lab, but i would also like to play a simpler version of the game once in a while.

I don't think it can really be considered simpler when you know you'll have to deal with pre-battle mech arangements, heat in battle, much more weapon systems to keep track of than in an optimised build, variant knowledge (this thing has ammo here ane here...), etc.

agreed, but you would also know EXACTLY what each of your opponents has equipped. as soon as you get the mech variant on the hud you know what weapons he has, how heat efficient he is and the max amount of ammo he can hold. currently it takes a few precious extra seconds to scan through and figure out what is in their weapons list and how they could be used together. a player who is knowledgeable enough could even determine all of that information without ever acquiring a lock, just by looking at the mech and determining the variant.

That is certainly true. But it would place emphasis on scouting again which I think is lacking at the moment. And it would be a comparably easy means of pleasing both the guys wanting stock mechs to be viable as well as the proponents of the current customization system. I can't see any way of how an increase in variety could not benefit this game at this point.

It has become increasingly apparent that PGI is afraid of anything that will split the Playerbase (must be really skydiveing!) as forced 3rd has proven. So Even though I would love this mode I doubt we will ever see it before IGP padlocks the doors.

3RD EDIT NOT taking!!!!

I voted Hell Yes! This would be a great option. I would like it even more if the teams were balanced by weight class and its random what mech you would get.

One more suggestion. Give each team the same camo and color pattern.

Some stock mechs are beyond bogus when considering this option. Perhaps this is because in order to balance out the best frankenmechs, the components on stock chassis are gimped. If SOME modification was allowed/automatically built in, then it probably would work better. For example, if all mechs had double heat sinks, and the lighter mechs had some armor tweaks, and maybe some more ammo for the missles and autocannons, this option and gameplay would be far more viable. Right now, there are stock builds that are nearly unplayable because their heat levels are so high/armor so low and there are other stock mechs that are fantastic because they are born upgraded like the Awesome 9M, some Trebs, and other star-league retrofits.

I'd like to see the full variety of mechs being played in a stock league, and the only way you'd make that work is if you evened them out a little bit in terms of heat, ammo, and maybe armor. Othwerwise, leave the engines the same rating, same number of heat sinks, even if doubled, and no weapon changes. Want to boat PPC's? Only mechs with more than one are the K2 and Awesomes. Want to be a missile boat? Take a catapult. Want to have more weapons than you possibly need? Take a stalker. Want to take ECM? Take a Raven - but watch out, it's slow with {Scrap} armor. Everything would have it's place and I support the idea of a stock mech option with my listed reservations.

A stock-only mode would bring this game back to life for me.

Always thought this was a good idea. Totally reminds me of my TT days. Would definitely separate the men from the boys. I would really enjoy a mode like this.

Stockmech battles are really fun and more BT as the battles we saw now.

In the german community we made at 08/18 a 3025 stock mech event again. 5 teams with 12 players battle each other and make the first ingame test of the MBV (explain here).

I still wants a stock mech queue ;)
