So, just limit to the 4 trial mechs out of the how many stock variants? Boring. Like the OPs idea better.

Youre saying they entirely delete and remove from all memory or storage every trial mech design after it rotates out of the trial mech of the month or whatever it is section?
Im figuring theres a database with all those mechs stored somewhere, open up ALL the trial mechs that are or have been for this mode.

Trial mech = stock mech. Trial mech is the flavor of the patch. one for each weight class.
OPs suggestion was to make them all available for a game mode (if I'm reading it right)
Or, when in that mode, the mech you own reverts to stock hardware (if I'm expanding it right) for that game mode.

then.... using stock mechs for this IS a viable idea and Vass wasnt trolling, he just didnt flesh out the idea properly.
Or he WAS trolling and the idea just got better lol

So... technically, Trial Mechs ARE on topic with the thread.

Opening all of the mechs would hurt CB, and in turn, MC sales.

I think that allowing people to pilot the stock version of any variant they own, would fulfill the OP's suggestion, while not allowing people to pilot any mech in the game for free.

Stock game mode accomplished, MC sales not affected.

The only question this leaves (to me,) is paint.

*edit*

In fact, I think this is exactly what the OP was suggesting.

Mechs should revert back to their stock loadout when a stock game mode is selected.

Suggesting the player would be selecting from owned, possibly modified mechs.

I like the idea of an unmodified stock car division.

You can still but any mech, even heroes, just those mechs are unable to have any of their loadout upgraded from showroom new.

This would have a real TT feel to it when everybody on the field is stock....could make future Clan infiltration more interesting as well IMHO.

You still get currency like any real match as well as piloting perks...just no gear on that mech...you can still queue for normal matches on your 17 million dollar Frankenzilla.

I would say no hero or champoin mechs, canon or not, because as soon as someone`s ilya tears apart a standard 'phract or an HM knocks off a 732 they`ll all be screaming "Stock mode is P2W"... best to *** that in teh bud right away.

*edit* N!p is censored?0.o... I`m starting to think everything that goes beyond teh basic 5000 words is, lol...

Hence why I said open all the Trial mechs not all the variants.

I voted Yes, then I noticed I am the only who did so. Wait... did I read the second option only after I voted?

There are issues to be "resolved" in a "Stock Mech" game.

Is it required to see have all the necessary parts for the stock mech in the inventory to make this possible? (For instance, the stock STD 260 engien that comes with all the Catapults). This may or may not change the dynamics in some way shape or form.

If this is not the case... well, then it shouldn't be too hard to have.. outside of having the mech variant in your inventory.

Remember that when you buy a mech, you always get the stock mech loadout... so the info is important.

However, there was a time that the stock Stalker-4N had 86 tons of mech (as confirmed with smurfy's mechlab many patches back), so the data is there and not on the server... the trial mech rotation is probably part of some xml file that dictates what is the current trial mech set...

There was already a poll where 70% of the people voted yes.

If you don't want stock, don't vote.

If there is already a thread suggesting it, why did you make a new one?

*Edit*

Bump the old one and delete this. It will help keep the suggestion forum on topic.

Well...

For me as CBT player this is a serious thread. My friends and me like to play a 3025 sometimes and compared to 3067 all mechs aregarbage in 3025. But it brings a lot of fun and tactics which i like to call 'lostics'. If you take a cicada in 'OEM'-version or a jager you can shoot the whole night long and nothing will ever happen. It's an 'oldie but goldie' mode for people who like the classics :)

I like it and hope this mode will be there in near future

Instead of a Stock only, why not trials only.

The old thread is locked. Plus this is a PETITION not a poll.

That would be a good start if it is something they could easily implement, but if we're limited to 4 mechs that get changed every month it kinda sucks.

So your evidence that 70% of the player base wants something is from a locked thread... and that's why you should make a real poll?

Come on man, please fix the poll. I'll even vote on it.

What I don`t like about limiting it to / using trial mechs: The current Heavy trial mech, which is a community built champion mech where the only thing stock is the chassis. Taka a wild guess what most people would be driving.... as this will probably not be the last champion mech, that ideas is essentially forfeit.

I see 2 ways to do this reasonably:

Either a: you drop with a standard (non hero, non founders, non champion) chassis and your own loadout, and your loadout is reverted to factory stock for the match.

or b:

you have to pohysically own and drop with an untouched (hardware-wise) chassis. you can paint it as often as you like and put a thousand hula-mojo-girls on the dash, but that`s it.

I think A is more user friendly but tosses up a whole mess of problems in it`S implementation, whereas b is a bit of a Money sink, but not an insurmountable one, and would possibly even make the game more acessible to new players by putting us ALL in overheating deathboxes. :)

PS: those that "want to vote but won`t due to poll" have either not read or understood either the very first line of the OP, or have issues with the difference between a "vote" and a "petition".

Vote: 2 evils to choose from, pick your poison.
Petition: sign my clipboard if you want it and agree that we need it, or get out of my face. ;)

would be cool as long as no hero or champion mechs are allowed, since they are not stock mechs.
