Google docs does ugly things with the tab spacing, but the important parts are simple enough to make out.

My custom Raven.

Decently fast, decently armored (for a light), all the spotting and EW gear expected from a Raven, jumpy, and it still has some fangs. Plus a Flamer to irritate people who get too close.

If they don't give us a jump-capable Raven variant, it'll gain an extra pair of Medium Lasers instead; assuming they give it enough energy hardpoints to mount 6.

[Flamer subject to termination once I get to see it in action]

Alternately: a long-range harasser variant.
A bit faster, a bit less armor, and an ERPPC. Still has a TAG for those times when you want to do some target spotting.

Then on a completely unrelated note:
"SRM-Surprise"-apult to tear things up in close-quarters.

86 kph run, 13 tons of armor, GECM and 24 tubes full of short-ranged death for anyone who walks around the corner. With 3 MLas on the side.

So with the release of the Stalker, I've decide to upload my idea for a lostech one. Comments are wanted. Two ER LLAS, two LRM15s, two SRM6, four MLAS, plus 16.5 tons of armor.

https://docs.google....fosyjxesOE/edit

Here is my idea for a Catapult that is a cross between a Catapult C1 and a K2. Two LRM15, two ER LLAS, 120 meter Jump range, 12.5 tons of Armor.

With the release of BattleMech 12, I played around with this guy - I traded out the LRM racks and large lasers for double PPC's for longer ranges. Up close, it packs two more SRM-6 racks for a total of 24 missiles, which by themselves is pretty bad to be shot by, but even worse when they exploit the wholes made by the PPC's at long range.

Stalker STK-3S

I think I'll try that config out, it looks fun.

Clinturion
I've always thought of the Clint as being the younger brother of the Centurion, probably because of the autocannon arm and 2 medium lasers on a standard walker, so I made this Centurion variant to mix the concepts of both mechs.
I gave a Centurion a much bigger XL engine and jump jets to get it to match the Clint's 6/9/6 speed. Swapped the AC/10 for an Ultra AC/5 to match its range while still being able to put out similar damage to the AC/10 when the fighting gets hot. I kept the medium lasers and LRM-10 as they are, and I'd put in an Endo Steel chassis first in hopes of not needing the XL engine, but did anyway. I kept the Endo Steel still because it afforded me the extra tonnage for more ammo (I put it in the UAC/5, but 2 tons of ammo in the LRM might be more prudent) and it allowed me to give it a whopping 10 tons of armor!

Advanced technology break 3025 mechs again. :(

BattleMech Technical Readout

Type/Model: Hunchback HBK-4G

Location: (Unknown)
Communications System: Sony MST-15
Targeting & Tracking System: Tacticon Tracer 300

==Overview:==
The HBK-4G Hunchback is a heavy-hitting fighting vehicle. Serving in medium and assault lances of many regiments of the Successor States, it has earned a distinguished fighting record. Designed in early 2572, the Hunchback continues as a popular vehicle both in House Liao and House Kurita regiments. It is also used extensively by House Marik armed forces.
The Hunchback is widely known for its streetfighting abilities in the confined spaces of urban battles. With its massive firepower at close range and its two heavy battle fists, it is more than a match for many heavier 'Mechs.

==Capabilities:==
The Hunchback is armed for short- to medium-range combat. At medium ranges, its combined armament of two Ichiba 2000 medium lasers and its massive Tomodzuru Type 20 autocannon mount can rip through even the heaviest armor. At close ranges, the powerful autocannon and the Diverse Optics Type 10 small laser make it very dangerous to attack the Hunchback
From a defensive point of view, the Hunchback's armor fits its tonnage class. The medium amount of armor carried plus the immense close-in firepower ensure that it will overcome many other medium 'Mechs. Too many MechWarriors, however, consider the Hunchback a match for heavy 'Mechs, only to find that its armor just does not have the staying power for extended combat with the behemoth heavy models.
The 'Mech's maneuverability and heat dispersion are also average for a medium machine. Unfortunately, its large Tomodzuru Type 20 autocannon creates so much heat when fired that a pilot must take great care to avoid buildup.

==Battle History:==
During the Battle of Pike IV in 3012, Right's Medium Lance of Pasquesi's Battalion led the assault on the city of Paramus. The two Hunchbacks of the unit were first into the city, and began to tear apart the light 'Mechs left as a screen by the 42nd Armored Lightning Regiment. As Pasquesi's assault lances came charging into the central business district, they saw the two Hunchbacks of Right's Lance in a fistfight with two Crusaders. A third Crusader leaned drunkenly against a skyscraper, its center torso shot through. Before Pasquesi's heavy 'Mechs could come to the aid of the Hunchbacks, the 'Mechs had eliminated both their adversaries. One Crusader had a punched-in head section, and the right leg of the other had been ripped off with a point-blank autocannon shot.
During the attack on New Ivaarsen in October 3021, House Kurita's Fifth Galedon Regulars charged their assault and medium lances against the Davion defense position outside the fortified city of Twin Peaks. Organized as city-busters for this campaign, the Fifth Galedon unfortunately lacked enough 'Mechs with long-range projectile weapons, as the Kurita commander never expected that House Davion could set up an effective defense outside the city.
The Hunchbacks and other 'Mechs of the Kurita assault lances were ordered to force their way into Twin Peaks, but the charge was short-lived. Peppered with Davion's long-range missile and autocannon fire, many Galedon 'Mechs were disabled before getting halfway to the city gates. Unable to return effective fire, first one, then many MechWarriors turned their 'Mechs around, and charged for the nearest cover. The defenders held Twin Peaks until substantial Davion reinforcements arrived, then forced the Fifth Galedon Regulars to retreat.

==Variants:==
Because of the serious heat buildup associated with use of the Type 20 autocannon, most variations of the Hunchback design have dropped this weapon in favor of smaller weapons systems. Some of these include SRM six-racks, LRM five- and ten-racks, increased numbers of medium lasers, and smaller autocannon. Indeed, a variety of weapons variations exist throughout the Successor States. Eliminating the Type 20 autocannon from the Hunchback makes it almost an entirely new 'Mech. Because of this, many warriors refer to aHunchback with no AC-20 as a "Swayback", as removal of the massive weapon totally alters the 'Mech's torso.

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
Commandant Isoroku Kurita
Commander of the First Regiment, Sun Zhang Academy Cadre, lsoroku Kurita swears by the Hunchback and would not consider piloting any other. An expert in urban 'Mech combat, he is Takashi Kurita's nephew. He is presently more of an instructor than a front-line MechWarrior, however. lsoroku has taken part in over 30 engagements and destroyed 22 'Mechs while commanding his Hunchback, the Murakumi (Cloud-Gatherer). For example, he spearheaded the assault on the city of Barnstable in the Fourth Battle of Harrow's Sun. In that foray, he suffered head injuries when his Hunchback was knocked down by the rubble from a building collapsing nearby. While recuperating from this injury, he was given command of a cadre regiment.

Captain Shawn Phillips
Commander of House Liao's Phillips' Company of Ling's Battalion, 15th Dracon Regiment, Shawn Phillips is a serious and deadly MechWarrior in his Hunchback, the Retribution. Orphaned at a young age by a Davion counterattack on his home planet of Lincoln V, he was adopted by a sergeant in the repair section of the 15th Dracon Regiment, which was then stationed on Lincoln V for R & R.
Phillips learned BattleMech combat from the ground up, first helping to repair damaged 'Mechs, then rebuilding those destroyed but shipped back from the front. Phillips built his own Hunchback from spares and cannibalized parts, and so the design is unusual. The Type 20 autocannon has been replaced with two SRM six racks (15 shots each) and two arm-mounted medium lasers. This mixed bag of weaponry has caught many opponents by surprise over the years.

Just so you guys know from studying the videos @ 80% heat the heat warning kicks in. 80% heat also translates in 29.6 Table top version heat. So if you want to alpha without going boom keep max "instant" heat generated at once below 30. If you want to alpha twice in a row keep it below 20.

Cicada / CDA-3M

Rip out that UAC/5 and replace it with an AC/2 + ammo and plink.

Not kill anything.

Just plink.

My variant of the ever popular Cataphract, took the CTF-3D dropped the XL, switched to endo and DHS, added ECM and upgraded the lasers. I took the liberty of adding the ECM even though its on the portion of the list that isn't guaranteed since we're getting the Raven and I'm pretty sure that Means BAP and ECM are in.

Also there are no 55 ton 'Mechs in the game yet so you won't be able to create this exact 'Mech, though using the Dragon you probably could create something similar.

Assasin isn't in game (yet anyway) and I'm not sure how you're going to build this because the only thing that weighs the same is the Cicada and it doesn't have any missiles. AMS is something their working on but so far nothing has been released that confirms it in game and I think the OP was asking people to design stuff that they're going to build with what's confirmed.

So I'd like to start a thread where you can build and show off your mech designs! First off a few rules and clarifications.

...
4. Use only the stated starting weapons/eq/armor and such the devs have said will be used upon release. They can be found here: http://mwomercs.com/...-devs-1-answer/
...

We're only using starting weapons/equipment/armor, which means no Clan tech and implies that we're only using 'Mechs that are currently known to be in the game. Your 'Mech is Clan so it uses Clan tech which isn't going to be in the game at release, it also uses the Long Tom which isn't going to be in at release so it doesn't fit the guidelines for the thread as stated. It also doesn't fit the implied guidelines of using only 'Mechs that are going to be in at launch (implied since if we're only using tech that's confirmed in why would be use 'Mechs that aren't). My impression was, and OP correct me if I'm wrong, that this thread was for people to show off what they're planning on doing/driving once the game launches.

So I don't think this thread means what you think it means.

There's also variants that can carry different weapons as a base than the standard model, so you might be able to make a flamer version of a Hunchback even though it normally carries an AC in the torso because you could base it off the Swayback.
So for trying to replicate an Assassin, there's one Cicada with a Beagle Active Probe, which I would think counts as a missile slot plus a large laser... no help there. The Jenner is only 5 tons less. If the entire center torso of it is a missile hard point then you could possibly fill those slots with one SRM-2 and one LRM-5, put the ammo in the side torsos, and a medium laser in one arm. To make it work you would probably upgrade the engine to an XL and put the leftover tonnage into armor, ECM, or an Anti-Missile System to increase some survivability. Then again, by my own logic an AMS would need a ballistic hard point, which a Jenner doesn't have.

Anyway, it creates some good brain exercises to try and come up with proxies for your favorite mechs using only what's available.

.

Beagle Active Probes are equipment not missiles so they don't use a hardpoint. Also I believe AMS is considered equipment as well... yes it is equipment, or at least that's how Solaris Skunk Werks classifies it.

I was wondering how MW:O would classify it, I was basing my thoughts off of each weapons' ammo type, but you're right and also in a Dev Blog or announcement I think I saw they'd listed them separately too. Lumped in with the ECM suites and such... I'll poke around and see if I can find it...

Edit: Oh yeah! It was the link at the front of this very thread. /facepalm

Heres a version of my Recon Commando 2-D I named the Fire Scout. Dropped the BAP to get 12/18 (300 XL same as an Atlas :ph34r:) Still has ECM/TAG but swapped out the MLas for a flamer. Even upgraded to heat sinks to DHS for good measure...you know on those HOT planets ;). Its still made of glass but man...look at that speed lol.

Build with Into Tech and considering that there are enough hard points:
Would stay near to the cannon designs.
  • While the Stalker is near optimum as it is actual i would trie the Jagawen Stalker trading LRMs for SRMs
  • Till the Banshee isn't available i would modifiy the Atlas to do the same (AK 10 and double PPCs)
  • ButterBee Catapult 4 SRM 6 racks... need something else

I've taken a stab at modifying a Cataphract to suit my own tastes. My primary concern is versatility - so step one for me was making sure that I had the ability to hit an enemy at any range. I had to sacrifice the jump jets and just could not afford to bring the speed up to 5/8 - but I'm pretty pleased with everything else that's going on here.

I'm not all that familiar with the rules - will CASE do anything to protect me and my XL engine? Or will I already be dead by the time CASE starts to take effect? If that's the case, obviously the CASE would get switched over to another half ton of armor.

I thinkn I have enough heat dissipation to keep me safe in that regard - but it would be simple enough to find room to add another heat sink - should the need arise.
