IMHO one of the best things in this game is sneaking forward in a fast* dual AC/20 Jagermech, standing on the enemy cap zone, and playing Gandalf with the little square border.

* RELATIVELY fast, that is :).

Hm...i don't get the idea behind... but I voted for the long dead master of "breaking" balance....being the first who brought range on his heels...i voted for the FIRST Omni Mech of the InnerSphere....the Catapult

It's definitely the Catapult. It's been a constant go-to mech since closed beta. It can do anything the current meta game demands.

The Catapult has easily been the best mech since forever. It's got the speed, it's got the armour, it's got the AC20s, the SRMS, the twist, the jumpjets, the streaks. It's got the touch. It's got the power.

It's the only mech to have it's "quirks" be a series of nerfs. Every weapon or build that has been considered OP since open beta could be mounted on a Catapult. No question who the winner of this poll is.

Where is flee, even though it hasn't been release yet, I am sure i will top the charts, after all who doesn't want a worse version of every light mech ever made.

However in PGI's defense it will "lag-shield like an SOB", and even though that sets the design progress back 6 months and erases everything invested in state rewind, who cares, because it is _______ favorite mech (next to the Raven 3L, so you better put ECM on that badboy).

Catapult or the Cataphract.

The Catapult has been semi out of favor after the missile debauchery and Jager mech taking the K2's Ac/20 glory. But all in all, that single mech chassis has had more QQ posts directed at it than any other. (it is also the only mech to receive blanket nerfs during "quirks").

Second place is probably the Cataphract. That chassis has had some staying power since its release, and is still one of the most competitive mechs.

I have been doing well with the Catapult, it is my best mech so far...

Catapult C1: 2.13 KDR
Catapult K2: 1.70 (Been sliding since I went from Dual AC20 to PPCs)
Catapult A1: 0.83 (Still figuring this one out)

The Atlas for sure.

The catapult is a workhorse, but the Atlas has been relevant for the entire span of this game so far. (Barring the early headshot days and the LRM apocalypse.)

Are we talking overall overall, as in "Catapult for half a year until very recently"? Or overall in the current "all PPCs all poptarts/ridgehumpers all round all day" metagame?

AS7-D-DC.

Currently it is the equivalent of the final boss of MWO.

This is what you need to do well with A1.

Sensor Range and Target Decay are very good module options.

I think the Rifleman with dual AC20 is just the most boring mech you can imagine. MinMaxer choice of the year.

My choice, Highlander -> Heavy Metal - 3 Large Lasers, LRM10 and LBX-10. I just love when jenners/ravens/etc. think "big easy target" and i have 3 large lasers and lbx-10 in hands. I have been thinking about removing lrm10 and taking bigger engine but haven't got around to it yet.

None of them. Catapult, simply because in the past it's had a good mix of viable builds. Cataphract is a close second for the same reasons.

I want to like the Cataphract, but the arms are too low. I'm sure jump jets solve that, but I always go..."Hmmm jump jets or more ammo or heat sinks, screw it the jump jets are gone"

Might not be smart, but I never was a fan of jump jets.

You need to understand, my criteria for "best mech" is considering all the variant options. If you're just looking for specific variants, then it's
  • D-DC!
  • 3L!
  • 3D and Highlander poptarts!
  • PPC Stalkers!
Together, they are: Team Cheese.
