The jenner is going back to the workshop. its legs are a little to thin and it has already taken a tumble and broken both of them and one of its arms. i'm going to add additional geometry to the legs to thicken the knees and also increase the size by 10 -15% making it roughly the same size as the raven

1. Wow. The models look great. When i realized how small they are I was amazed at the level of detail. That's one great 3D printer.

2. I have painted many miniatures in my time. I have tried all the basics and then some (dry brushing, highlights, ink-wash) but none of my mini's look that good. Tell your friend he did a great job.

You know you could put the specs to print these and other up somewhere and rather than selling them you could trade them like trading cards.

wow, they look fantastic :P
that's just such awesome work!
i'm sooo envious :P

what i was wondering, do you think would it be possible to print a cat k2/c1 with machine guns on the RT/LT?
or too fragile?

Models look great, Im sure if the official TT figs looked like this they would be more popular with non BT fans. In fact I dont own any official metal figs having just the plastic jobbies from the boxset.

If I recall correctly Battletech is 6mm or 1/300 scale- ie a man=6mm which makes the mechs stand at about 28mm

Love to have all the mechs from MWO as the official figs

Yea i was about to ask about the scale. You mention 1/60th scale and someone posted that would make the catapult 8 inches tall or something along those lines? To me, based on the little bit of reference material in the pics, look alot closer to 1/285 scale that the BT minis are in. Would you be able to post precise sizing for a few of them. Mainly interested and knowing if a non industrial grade 3D printer can make 6mm scale minis to that detail level....

The biggest mech i have currently is the highlander and it stands 4.5cm tall
the smallest is the jenner at 3.1cm they are all scaled based on their relative scale in MWO. meaning all the files have the same scale value's applied to them so the game scale is the same scale my mini's use apart from the jenner and raven which are 20% bigger than their ingame counterparts due to very thin legs

i'm taking a break with the mini's to do some more work on the 1/60th catapult.
The foot and lower leg are the most complex since i want the foot to be able to pitch, roll and twist while still being able to keep it upright. So I had to add a ratchet joint to the roll axis in the ankle. fortunately i'm nearly done with those and here's an exploded view of the lower leg and foot mechanisms

How much do these cost you to produce? You probably cannot legally sell them but I'm curious as to how much time/effort/materials runs you.

You've done some incredible work, would love to have the skill to do this myself.
As for scale I looked it up, I originally believed BT miniatures were in the 1/144th scale, but that is miniature armor usually for wwII buffs etc. The consensus I found is BT miniatures use the N guage, which varies from 1/160 to 1/300. Classic Battletech mini's were presented in 1/285th scale, with more consistency throughout the product line. Whichever scale you are using within that range small mechs end up being really small if you stay true to scale, as you noted with breakage on your Jenner's legs.
Keep up the great work, I l'm looking forward to more pics :D

it takes me about 10 to 20 hours to fully prep a model for printing and then it costs me roughly 20 to 30 euro's to print them it varies depending on the model. as for effort its really easy if you know what you're doing mostly i just do this on autopilot it just takes a while.

on the other hand the large scale catapult i'm doing is alot more work and alot more fun cause i have to figure out what kind of joints go where and how to properly implement them in the model without destroying the exterior. so i have to constantly find nooks and cranny's and make caps that hide the mechanisms. such as the knee which has 2 caps on it to hide the ratchet joint and screw. the next big issue is going to be the hip which also has to be able to rotate along 3 axis while still being stiff enoegh to keep the model upright.
