I would dredge up posts through search, or take a look around, but I would also rather attempt to stimulate conversation concerning Atlas placement and role - I posted recently on a topic, but quickly am reconsidering my opinion on Atlas.

The current phasing of the game makes my consistency less than acceptable - given the meta (present day), Atlas does seem to be performing inconsistently.

If you disagree, by all means share a build and an opinion - less opinion without build.

Obligatory:

I love to troll, so entertainment works as well.

From what I've fought, most DDCs seem to carry heavier beams (LL or PPC) in the arms with a gauss or AC/20. Missiles are still there, but might only be a few streaks or SRM4s.

The era of the AC/20, 3x ASRM6, 2-4x ML Atlas may return with missile fixes in the forthcoming patches.

In my D-DC i had always LL in the arms.
But i switched from an AC20 to Gauss and from Srm6 to Srm4+Artemis for better range and pin point damage.

Maybe i change back to an AC20 if the Highlander popart changes.

I find that the Atlas really should have a pair of hard-hitting energy weapons in the arms (Large Lasers, PPCs, etc.) - the Atlas chassis does not have a very good vertical torso movement range, so if the build is heavily dependent on the torso weapons, you could be in trouble on maps full of slopes (Alpine, parts of Caustic, etc.)

I tried LL's in the arms for a while recently, but I would run a 300 to fit what I needed, so twisting felt sluggish and since I pug exclusively, I would get in trouble from time to time when I got too hot in the thick of a fight.

For a long while before, I ran with a 350, but even with the bump in speed and twist, I was still running too hot and had to slow my rate of fire for most of the engagements I was getting into.

So I've settled on this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7a63e519c11288f

Using the Mediums occasionally has allowed me to both Tank better for my team and dish out more pain in a shorter time frame, since I would often try to use cover and flank the enemy and make them turn to face me.

Been running this atlas for about 15-20 matches now, and it seems to be working pretty well (my first atlas) no clue on my ELO bracket or anything though, any critique or suggestions?

AS7-D-DC

on hot maps I pretty much only end up using the 2 UACs, and Streaks, but most other mechs run into similar heat problems and at least mine can still pump out alot of fast dmg.

The streaks are great for scaring off lights, and not bad for just unloading into any mech that gets too close.

I've been mostly averaging between 250-400 dmg with 2 over 600 matches.

I've got one for you!

I'm far too lazy to mess with Smurfy, so I'll just type them out...

AS7-DDC Brawler

STD 335
576 Armor (abouts)
Endo
DHS

2 LLAS in the arms
3 SRM4+A
AC20

3T ammo for SRM
3-4T ammo for AC

It has a decent heat efficiency, and it is very versatile.

AS7-D-DC

This is what I mostly run in my DDC now.

2xPPC
ac20
3xSRM4
15dhs

It works pretty well, but I still perform better on average in my stalkers.

If i may quote myself: "If a 'Mech has both BAP and ECM installed, the counter ECM feature gets overwritten by ECM. So the 'Mech will only get the increased sensor range and the ability to target unpowered 'Mechs."

So a BAP and a ECM together may not be the best option. I would upgrade the engine to a 305er :D

Right now I'm running an RS with 4xLL and 1xgauss with a 300 STD. It's an absolute beast and I recommend it highly. You just have to be careful to not get caught out of position.

My DDC has

1. AC20 2x ammo
2. 2x LL
3. 3x SRM6 + Arthemis

Its a beast, 65 alpha.

Runs 58kph with 325engine, and ecm module.

Also ddc 4 module slots are unmatched.

Armor is maxed , took some off on legs.

My typical Atlas K is pretty silly. Instead of a slow brick, it acts like an up-armored and up-gunned heavy. You can make it a bit more atlassy by downgrading the engine to take more ammo and put some LRMs in the left torso.

I personally find this build more consistent than any other.

I call my atlas "ULTAS". It's probably the ultimate build for what an atlas chassis could even hope to become. I'd share it but then I'd ruin the surprise if you see me. Though really you are just spinning your wheels with an atlas. It's better to just get a highlander or Stalker.
