Can you elaborate a bit. There are actually very few mechs that are "boats", they can be equipped as boats, but most don't come as boats.
Can I recommend a Logitech MX518 with I believe has 5 buttons for less than $40? It can be used for any game you play. And is there a reason you couldn't use your keyboard?
Is there any reason you couldn't go from boating 1 weapon, to using 2 or 3 weapons and having the 2 or 3 weapons tied to your 3 mouse buttons?

my hunchie 4p, my catapult a1, the new blackjacks...not even going to buy 1 as they look like viable boats, i also have a awesome ppc boat and my jenner f is a med laser boat..the jenner f is 1 of my favorite mechs...i would be quite disappointed if i could never use it again
i tried gaming mice, all they do is lead to a lot of accidental clicks..and the keyboard has too many functions as it is

I will shoot on my way down with my JJs off like I always did. No shake.
The difference is that you won't be able to start your aiming process until you let off the jets, whereas right now you can take your time aiming all the way up then shoot when you please.

Otherwise that is for a Ton, thus 180/10 = .055555hp/missile.
Given the rof=30 for AMS, @ 2.0pt you could kill roughly 6 missiles out of any volley (perfect range and targeting required).
Based on that, the LRM5 was not so good solo. Now, because the LRM's travel faster they still need to knock out the same # of missiles to compensate or the AMS gets a hidden nerf.
That is the internal HP for your ammo. According to old dev posts, LRM/SRM/SSRM missiles have 1 HP. NARC beacons have 2 HP. And I don't know if I can trust that rof=30 for AMS. That would mean a single AMS could potentially down an LRM20 by itself. And AMS can't do that.
EDIT: Beaten. But what you guys are failing to account for (and what I originally failed to account for) is that AMS has damage falloff. 90m is the optimal range, 200m is the max range. Under 2.0 damage, AMS doesn't do 1 damage per shot until the missile is 145m away from you. Under 3.5 damage, AMS doesn't do 1 damage per shot until the missile is 168.57 m away from you. So it is a slight buff to the range at which it can start killing missiles. The question is when does AMS start firing?

Wow is it really? What is up with their art design team and Medium mechs.
I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a 'standard' box that represents a 'mech in the game, and they then paste in the design from the Art department to make it fit that box, regardless of the size the mech is supposed to be. Thus, we end up with Stalkers that are smaller than Catapults, and other strangeness.
To be fair, however, a battlemech is pretty much a large vehicle, no matter what it's tonnage. The cockpit, engine, weapons systems, sensors, armor, and actuators all have to be a certain size to work, and that means battlemechs will be around the same size, Even so, a heavier battlemech should, reasonably, be larger than a lighter one.
Unless we get a revision pass on all 'mechs, though, I guess we're just going to have to accept that the mechs will keep on being different from what we expect.

Aiming process takes 0.2 seconds, my fall down time is about 1 second. Perfect weapon convergence means all I need to do is point and click (more so now when we have 'arms lock').

Its coming, apparently they weren't ready to release that yet from what I hear was said on the NGNG podcast.
Two months in on a "temporary" fix. No adjusting of the damage values which are/were set way to low. No nothing. It chafes my nuts.

- How much is 'fairly substantial damage' for air and artillery strike? Is that 20 points per hit, 15 points per hit?
- Why are we still wasting time tweaking machine gun and flamers which are anti-infantry weapons and does not play any real role in pure Mech vs. Mech BTech scenario. Which is what MWO is. We don't have combined arms combat in MWO.
- Its premature to say but my gut says PPC nerf by increasing cooldown and fixing min range damage will not help fix poptarting issue. Other suggestions such as mine which is to add shake/rattle to cockpit of mech that is jumping will reduce poptarting without affectin other purposes of JumpJet.

and loving this game, so far. Don't think the PGI team has gotten enough credit - people need to remember this is a BETA. Good job and good game.
Haha, no third lance this patch. They've been doing this for a while now, stating how things will work as if there is a third lance.

one thing i dont really like though...why punish a already legged mech..its at a serious disadvantage as it is why make it even worse..i mean when you get legged you pretty much dead in few secs, with this change well you just stop playing when u loose the first leg..
i just feel its a rather poor change as it doesnt really balance out anything, it doesnt counter anything, it just makes it worse for a poor guy already in a very bad position...
If you played MW4:Mercs you would know that you could only go 1/3 speed forward and big fat zero in reverse. You don't have a leg, be lucky you can move at all....

Really? You are going to call me a child? Dude, go look at both of our posting histories. You are just being silly.
A] Consumables are always going to be bad for this game. B] Me asking a guy to clarify what his issue was without me going back and reading about something that is bad for the game is not being a "child".
Dear lord you stink at forums.
I'm pretty sure this is an [redacted] error.

Logitech 518 is not a gaming mouse really. The two side buttons were originally for things like browsing websites (forward and back buttons). If you have trouble with it I don't know what to tell you.
As for optimized...well after the changes, optimized might mean more than 1 weapon type.
Min/maxing does not mean boating. All min/maxing is, is using the best set-up possible.
The A1 really doesn't seem like it will be hit by the proposed changes, nor the other mechs you listed. But assuming they were, is it really that difficult to run a pair of streaks to go with your LRM's or vice versa?
Or mix in a couple Medium Pulse to go with your Medium Lasers, or whatever?
You just sound lazy to me.

The reason is that in the future, there are going to be tonnage restrictions on what you can take into a fight, and so having a 45 ton mech that can do a similar job to a 65 ton mech becomes an important factor. In addition, the Blackjack can jump (most variants) and is more energy-based.
So, if you are a Jagermech pilot and used to that mech, you may want to pick up a Blackjack as a mech to use when you can't use your big unit.

I know I will.
Makes for many more viable setups instead of just PPC's, Lasers and AC's. Looking forward to it...
