Missiles are fine as is. If you stand out in the open within their optimal range, you deserve to get erased from the map. Most of the people who complain about their balance likely died because they ran out in to the open like damned fools.

Just last night I was on Canyon Network, a paradise for LRM boats everywhere I hear, and I traveled the canyon network, keeping my head down, and got behind the enemy LRM nest. Killed three of them with nothing but lasers and my team went on to win the game. Stop complaining and start thinking about why you keep dying. Every time missiles came my way, I ducked into a canyon, or behind a rock outcropping. When facing streak cats and other missile-laden mechs, I would circle, making a point to go behind boulders and other outcroppings to break their locks. This had the added benefit of buying me time to cool down. It took some hit and run, but at the end of the match I was caked in yellow damage, had slain three enemies, assisted in the death of a fourth, and had hundreds of damage to show for it.

This isn't a twitchy, fast-paced shooter, you need to think about strategy. Posters before me have already posted a half-dozen different methods to get around LRMs. It's good advice. Follow it and watch as your LRM-related deaths dwindle dramatically.

When someone's running an LRM boat, just run right up to em in your ECM light. Then watch and laugh as they twist and turn, with their sensors offline and their LRM's useless. I get right up in that big guy's hip pocket and start shooting, using him to shield me from his buddies. This also works for PPC boats, as their weapons are useless inside of 90m for anything other than overheating them. Flipside, one good blast from a poptart and I'm down to my head and left arm. Nobody's unbeatable even now.

Load up LRM 60 stalker, go into training ground, kill every single mech in 2 volleys or less. Even atlases. All of them died from CT shots.

Do not use Artemis. Do not use TAG. Do not use NARC.

don't see big problem in today's LRM dmg or trajectory.
problem is in the other thing. any mech with missile slot usually equipped with LRM there. even with useless LRM5. saw today x-5 with 2 LRM's (5 or 10 don't remember for sure). and that's the problem. so i'd say, it should be not allowed to equip LRM to every mech.

This is the problem. I barely post about anything but this is it. LRM's turn 90 degrees to hit you in the center torso. I have been directly behind buildings taller than my mech and missiles come overhead, turn 90 degrees, slide between the building and my mech, and hit and core only my center torso.

Without Artemis, Tag, or NARC, they hit the center torso. 60 missiles does 54 damage to the center torso.

So by reading the patch notes, the ECM counters are still useless as **** for baking and severely limited by range, 150 meters on bap? 250 meters on UAV? Both are ranges easily covered in a matter of seconds to the minimum range. Unless they removed/balanced ECM! Which they haven't.

However, this is not taking into consideration organized team play, 4 man drops, and not having certain weapon/module/equipment like ECM/LRM added to Match Making for the Pug experience.

I fully agree about the ECM being added to MM. Not much is more frustrating than an entire team with No ECM against an enemy team full of them.

Guys lrm boats are soo easy to kill right now.

Every fool on the planet is trying to play them because of boredom and due to people on the forums claiming they are op.
Have you all gotten so lazy or out of practice that you don't remember how to kill them? Seriously?
Lrm's have been far far far more powerful for a year until just a few months ago.

Go out and enjoy clubing the baby seals who are uselessly using lrms.

If you want to nerf anything nerf the ability of stalkers to boat lrms. That is really the only serious balance issue currently. It is consistently coming down to the ability of the stalker to boat weapons and the trouble that creates for balancing weapons on an individual basis.

Well I have to say this has made the game no fun for me. LRM's are just taking the combat out of the game. Run and hide and fire LRMs forthe WIN. What the hell were yall thinking?

I like most of the new flight path.... it looks like i think it should. its the last part that over extends the arch before dropping as explained in pauls post. LRM performance is way to effective and will be fixed.

You can fall in and bend to the new meta or treat it as a challenge.... how to best hunt and kill theses LRM boating ********.
i'm using my tag and 4x MG's may move over to something with ECM for that extra spicy F you. its provided some very interesting, intensives game play the last 2 nights.

problem is that LRM hit center torso nearly all the time again, had my blackjack cored by a single voley from a stalker, and the side torsos just had some scratches while the center was destroyed.

Missiles have no spread, all of them hit the center torso. Along with people aim botting for CT since it's the weakest area, you die pretty damn fast if you aren't going ton to ton against another player as you will either be cored by PPC's, AC's or SSRM's and then it's all over.

Missile arc implementation is really bad. The arc is too extreme. The damage is a bit much also, it should be backed down a tad. This has definitely impacted the game's fun factor. Battles aren't as pitched now, not balanced.

I'd also consider increasing the crit factor of missile systems and anywhere the ammo is and consider removing case's ability to protect the mech from chain reaction explosions. Missiles are carrying explosives and a mech with 2000 of them when crit on an ammo box should go up like 4th of July fireworks accidentally set off, sending spinning missiles everywhere and possibly damaging nearby mechs. That's something that I haven't seen implemented, secondary explosions in mechs which may damage nearby mechs. That would stop everyone from bunching up so often.

I'd really like to see the mech specs open-sourced and published so we know when they are tweaking a mech you just spent a lot of money and time configuring and now all of a sudden it's getting trashed like it has paper armor...

Gentlemen, and ladies, listen to the words from us who are experienced. If you go through this topic and look at who's complaining versus those who are either fine with LRM's, or just want a few tweaks, you will see that we founders (i.e. those of us who have been playing MUCH LONGER) are the ones promoting the new LRM's with just a few tweaks here and there. We have seen the old LRM's (before ECM), and those ones were pure hell on Earth. The flight path is a bit off, but LRM's are doing what they should. Suppressing fire, and supporting fire is what LRM's are built for. And I run in mid range brawling meds, I'm a prime target for LRM's. Those of us who have been there know what to do, so try watching, learning, and adapting rather than wishing for your ECM Raven god weapon back
Take the hint, this is not HALO or CoD were everyone grabs the one awesome gun out of 30 crap guns and blows each other away in a mindless orgy of neanderthal inspired violence. There is no such thing as a perfect weapon or perfect strategy in Battletech or Mechwarrior. EVERY weapon requires skill and strategy versus natural ability or blind luck. If you don't believe me, try it. Almost all LRM boats are helpless at close range. A Commando can bring down a Catapult LRM boat if done right, I know from experience. I suck with LRM's, but I know how to kill LRM boats

A couple of months ago they decided to add a special effect to the flight pattern of the lrm's it looked like the sentinels from the matrix, it was awesome however the trajectory was broken, it almost looks like the flight path of a javelin. now its almost as steep a path minus the cool flight pattern.

I've died like twice under LRM fire before I've actually done any considerable damage myself. Both times were 100% my own fault and nothing to do with LRMs being overpowered. So far by moving fast from cover to cover and using AMS I've managed my brawlers just fine. After those few lessons I had when charging straight to LRM boats right after spotting them, I started taking longer routes and going around the enemy LRMs to strike their flanks and rear.

Imho by being patient and choosing where and when you fight is the key against LRMs. Too often you see both teams locked in trench warfare shooting LRMs and PPC/gauss at each other, then someone grows frustrated and charges ahead dying a horrible death his last words echoing in the air "OMFG LRM so OP". Why not start running left or right and try to flank enemies?

LRMs were slightly OP in my opinion even before this patch, which, btw, has been causing me to crash to mechbay with 85% reliability. The new patch just throws it over the top. SSRM is still bugged and OP as well, particularly as far as light V light combat is concerned.

Piranha gets no money until they fix their broken, ridiculous game.

I say they are fine except for the CT convergence and flight path. I find LRMs being more useful makes games more tactical and interesting. If something has to be OP, I'd rather it be the missiles than PPC/Gauss sniping.

The damage per missile isn't the main problem - though it is a valid point of debate and target of further balancing, it's the new vertical trajectory. Taking cover is now often impossible.

If you don't think LRMs are a problem now, you haven't noticed everyone and their mothers are now packing LRM launchers. Sometimes the air traffic is comical. Exactly the same thing happened the last time a patch momentarily buffed trajectory and damage (and the time before that).

Devs have said they will re-nerf the buffed, nerfed, buffed. nerfed, buffed, nerfed, buffed LRMs. Again. Pretty much end of the debate, surely? (as previously posted, see http://mwomercs.com/...93#entry2369593 for explination...)

BTW, do we need three threads for this mostly pointless (considering there are upcoming changes) topic?

Why would you ever prefer that the autoaiming, skill-bereft weapon be the one that's unbalancing the game, rather than the one which requires great skill, timing, caution, and just raw effort and SQUINTING? LRM and SSRM are so much worse than any 5 PPC stalker or AC40 jaegar. At least those mothers actually AIMED at you.
