I agree and was rather surprised at the speed. Sniping has been dominating for a month or two, and now LRM's come around, which can easily be nullified with ECM and, honnestly, LRM's didn't get that big of an intended buff. Although once it's patched I do feel they'll be probably the most balanced I've seen them in a while.

Certainly, if a player is deliberately hiding or "hugging" some cover, they should be safe.
This makes LRMs a support weapon - you should be firing them at enemy 'mechs that are engaged by your allies.
So, I suspect LRMs will probably need a damage buff, but their fire arc should be easy to hide from.

brother I am with you
A true area denial weapon would be VERY hard to land shots with
but DEVASTATING in the rare case they connect.
playing a boat should be all about getting that perfect volley off here and there
as it is its just find red square

And how many ****ing MONTHS are we going to have to wait for the next LRM tweak? As opposed to the minutes/hours it took for them to be targeted for nerfing?

Now it´s a dumb nobrainer with the only counter being autofiring AMS.
Á slight speedtweak would probably have been nice but all other changes make the game so dumb that I even consider wiping it from my harddisks for now.
If you where not able to make use of them yesterday neither in pugs nor 8man- drops before you should not consider yourself qualified to ask for this stupidity we have now to stay. You obviously did not bother to learn how to use them effectively.

LOL. All the data since the patch went up.
Yes, which is more than what you or I or any forum poster have.
Regardless the fix is coming.

That's honestly what they may well end up being when the fixes come. I think damage may still need to go up a smidge if they remove splash.

I'm scoring higher and doing more as a poptart AGAINST LRMs than LRMs are doing.
The only thing that appreciably changed is now you have less reaction time to cut the lock. Everything else is basically the same. Check Thomas' notes if you're in doubt.

Interesting post. I get from this you don't like having old men, like me, messing up by playing 'your' game. What about people with bad vision, lost an arm defending their country. Lots of reasons for disabilities besides age. We all mess up the development of 'your' game I guess. Perhaps you could institute a 'segregation' server so you could play only with those who are like you, only those who are good enough.

On the other hand, literally emptying an LRM Stalker of ammo gets less than 500 damage during the course of a battle.

I disagree. I hate balance of extremes. It leads us to ECM as missile hard counter requiring 5 other soft to hard counters to make it work reasonable.
They should simply be effective weapons, balanced to be slightly less effective then direct-fire precision weapons but capable of being used for indirect fire (with less effectiveness the when used for direct-fire).

Unless the damage numbers are seriously bugged, LRMs are still underpowered, just somewhat harder to hide from (aka you actually have to be close to cover not just within 180 meters of a 2 story house).
You had 190 damage but 2 kills...That's not a lot of damage for 2 kills. Now, you either stole 2 kills or you cored mechs instantly. Which was it?
