Maybe they cut a deal with Crytek for this?
As far as I know the Yerli brothers are no devils. I don't like them on a professional level, but on a personal level I can totally see them agreeing to a special deal for something like this.

And what happens if they do not? Is PGI going to do these mech entire free and pay the difference between donations and 'out of their hands' fees?

Because if a single cent goes to anything but the cause. This whole idea stops bordering using a dead girl for profit and actually does it.

Definate buy. Lost my mom to cancer my senior year of college back in 2008.

So long as the intent is to donate money to the family or charity, I will pay a serious amount of money for the mech even if it is just a variant I already have with a unique camo and/or paint.

We have no way to control it anyways. We will not know how many Sarah-Mechs have been sold, how much income that generated and what has been done with the money.

We might see an article somewhere, on how this gaming community came together, asked the devs for an ingame item to support the family and cancer research, and that the money made on this item went to charity "xyz".

But I will give you something more, that might ease your concerns a bit. From Bryans twitter account

I think this is a really good thing and I will buy this Mech.

However, to all the concerns about where the actual money is going - Staff still have to be paid and it costs money to develop something like this and these guys ARE a business. I have no problems with PGI taking a percentage, provided the rest goes to Cancer research. I would prefer that it was a majority amount, but people have to remember every time someone purchases this Mech it is a potential loss of a sale of another Mech. While it's all warm and fuzzy to think that a business will do something like this completely altruistically I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect them to donate every cent they make.

If you're really worried about that, don't buy this Mech and instead donate the cost of it directly to a charity of your choosing.

What you are basically saying is that it is okay to turn the death of a young girl into profit.

Do you not see what's inherently wrong with that?
Instead of giving, let's say, $50 directly to cancer research, you would give $10-20 to PGI from that sum just so that you could get swag in return? How could anyone be okay with that, unless you're really just after personal gain over actually promoting awareness?

Anything that could be done to raise awareness and work as a memorial for Sarah can and should be done for free without PGI/IGP/CryEngine taking a cut - and all of your money should go directly to cancer research or the family instead.

That discussion is no longer necessary, as we already have a statement, that all money made from this hero mech will go to charity. See my post above.

No, that is not what I am saying at all, even slightly.

1) I don't care about 'swag'. I don't own any Hero Mech's currently and I haven't pushed for this Mech to be designed. This is the first time I've commented on this other than to say I would buy it if they made it. I will buy it because it's great idea and a great charity to support.

2) It's a bit cynical and arrogant of you to assume you know anything about my motivation when you don't know me.

3) I donate to my fair share of charities including donating time each year to raise awareness for men's health (Movember) and for Children With Cancer through a local fishing competition held in my town (I sponsor prizes and help with my personal time/money).

I don't know about where you live, but there are plenty of products in this country that donate a percentage of their sale to charity, even memorial products. It's called overheads. Electricity, gas, phone, internet, staff wages, costs of design and a million other things. It's got absolutely zero to do with greed or profit-mongering.

It's all moot anyway because Bryan has said all money will go to Cancer research and that is great and I applaud his decision heartily. It also goes a long way to showing the actual shape of MechWarrior: Online if they feel this is something they can do no worries. I think it's fantastic!

If it goes to charity I am glad. If some went to the game makers I would also be fine.
