I liked the Victor in MW2:mercs it was one of my earliest assaults (where I swapped out the AC20 for a longer range PPC) though in MW4:mercs its gigantic head created a easy to shoot CT, and the dragon slayer has like 1980's shoulderpads going on:

So im a bit hesitant to put money into DS, i'll probagly still hem and haw over ProPho for a tbolt or wait for a heroic orion.

Well my bets are on these three variants as the standard issues:

9B - ac20, SRM4 2xMed laser (Standard victor)
9A1 - Same as the 9B but it drops three tons of armor to mount a mgun and two flamers (IE more ballistic and energy mounts) extra.

Two others are possible, but wouldnt have much difference in hard points, the 9K uses endo steel to mount a gauss rifle instead of the AC20 and medium pulse lasers instead of the standards. The 9S drops a ton of armor off the 9B to upgrade the SRM to a 6 rack.

Everything past that are ahead of our current time line by a good ten years at least, much as id like to see the UAC10 model.

Here comes another underpowered assault mech. Hopefully the available speed and precision on its weapons will make up for it.

As a counterpoint:
  • The VTR-9B is the "standard/default variant", so its inclusion is a near-certainty.
  • The introduction story/artwork featured a Davion-affiliated Victor mounting a Gauss Rifle - an indication that the VTR-9D (to which the VTR-9K is spec-wise identical, save the use of region-specific components) is very likely to be included as the "3050-era recovered LosTech variant".
For the third variant (and additional variants), PGI has options including: Of these, the VTR-9A1 has (IMO) drawn the most attention due to its ballistics potential (including, potentially, triple-Gauss and triple-AC/20 loadouts :D) - which I have posted about at length here.

Also of interest is that they didn't use the Victor "Li" (the personal BattleMech of Li Dok To) as the Hero 'Mech. :D

I like that they are keeping it more as a Davion hero mech, since it was "The" most used assault in the Davion line up. Buying the DS tonight and putting it in the Heavy guard colours <_<

So whats the general opinion, should we expect Victor to be the next assault on the 15~18th of next month or should we brace for anything?
As we now know the mechs for october through november that leaves us with 3 mechs till the regular release of the locust in october, so 1 assault and 2 ... something?

well we were told that the Orion was bumped for one cycle, and will be the next heavy, but ..well you know how reliable reports can be

Remodel this mech, artwork looked soo good and in game model is so bad. Why bother asking alex to make a very detailed artwork when you dont even put half the details in the model in game! The game has enough mechs now, no need to rush anything just put enough details like you did in mechs like catapult and hunchback.

According to the Smurfy Mechlab site as of this moment as I post this, there are Victor variants of VTR-9K, VTR-9B, and VTR9S. Are these the variants of the Victor in which will be surely implemented into the game, or is this idea still in the air?

I know the VTR-9B is the primary variant and its implementation is more than likely, but the other two is questionable. Ideas anyone?

I check this hourly to see if the 9A has been added.. sadly no. But there is still time (takes a deep breath).
