And is it just me, or does the stock armament actually sound pretty effective for a change?

It does sound effective, my dear Bishop!

It actually addresses the one issue I have with the S variant (my fave mech) in that torso mounted weapons force you to expose WAAAAAY more of yourself to fire. Now, I can unleash torrents of both PPC and Ultra Dakka cheese upon my enemies from relative cowardly comfort behind a hill, with just the barest hint of my arms peeking over!

See attached diagram below.

The only downside to this will be the inability of the enemy to admire that freakin awesome paint job!

it looks amazing.

they are getting better at texturing these mechs.

1. The flame decals seem to be using a gradient. Melting of black(user selected color)/orange(user selected color).. i hope to see camos using gradients soon. So this is possible
Spoiler

2. The light reflects off the painted word "FROM" in a very realistic way, while not reflecting off the more dull, black backdrop on the right torso.
you don't see that with older mechs, where the paint and the other parts of the mech are treated like the same material.
Spoiler

seems like they are using some kind of new technique. i hope they update older skins/mechs with it.

It's basically a rifleman if I am not mistaken.

A demon rifleman! And this is not in any way a bad thing!

Maybe the devs could implement a special effect for this one - make it belch fire and black smoke from it's engines whenever it moves at top speed!

It should also play o-fortuna while it's firing.

Wow - I do believe i'm giddy like a school girl who has caught a glimpse of one of the nerds from one direction here. Over a mech!

This jagermech is like any other jagermech honestly.

The arm laser does not really make a difference because it doesn't have arm actuators.

Well, it offers a mini-catapult k2 deal - good high-mounted energy and in this case ballistic hardpoints to boot.

Will it be godly? Dunno.

Will I fit it up like a rifleman? Oh yeah. Will I try ER-PPC's and AC's? Yes.

I don't get what the excitement is about.

2 ppc...2 ac2... 2 med lasers...

yeah ok energy in the hands is nifty but this is essentially the same as the -S but with 2 energy shoved into the arms.

Firepower wise you can do this same setup on the -S.

..and in any case, the DD still outperforms it when equipping 5 AC2s and 2 med lasers.

2ppc+2ac2+2 med laser = 20+8 (one second of firing)+10.. so 38dmg in one second with a very high heat footprint.
5AC2 with 2 med laser = 20 (one second of firing)+10 .. so 30 dmg in one second with a minimal heat footprint.

Well... As a light pilot I was hoping against hope that this hero was going to be either a Spider or Raven... Guess us lights will just go back to our... *Grimace* Deaths Knell while all the rest of you guys work on your 3-4 Hero mechs per weight class.

Also on a separate rant. When are they going to go back to giving us a little bit of lore with these things instead of just slapping a pretty paint job on a bill and calling it a day. When they first started going off cannon for Heros I was fine with it. Because those first few all had written stories that made them part of the fluff, Expanded the universe. Now i just feel like I'm being marketed to and I want to go back to not seeing behind the curtains.

hmmmm... if being smart and using cover = cowardice, does that equate being "brave" as being stupid and standing out in the open?

"Brave" would be weaving your way towards the enemy, using cover to do so.

I have been saving my MC and a special empty MechBay specifically for a Hero Jager!!! I have the 6A and S, but I didn't get the DD because I wanted to fill my JagerSquad with the Hero.. but I thought it would be months away still! Yippie!

Bonus: I'll also get a 65ton Rifleman ;-)

Rifleman? **** THAT MAN! ITS THE JAGERMECH III!
JagerMech III

Posted Image JagerMech

As part of Victor Steiner-Davion's attempt to rebuild national pride, the JagerMech underwent a redesign and was christened the JagerMech III and introduced in 3058[2]. The JagerMech III is built along a similar philosophy as the original: keeping an enemy at range. To make this new JagerMech III fit into the mobile warfare doctrine embraced by the AFFC, the 'Mech is powered by a massive VOX 325 XL engine that gives it a top speed of 86.4 km/h while weighing half as much as a standard fusion engine. To save even more weight, the JagerMech III is built on a Kallon Type XIV Endo Steel chassis. The JagerMech III carries armor in line with its role as a long-range 'Mech, with only nine and a half tons of Kallon Unity Weave Ferro-Fibrous armor. The design has suffered some criticism for its lack of CASE to protect its ammunition, especially given the amount of advanced technology on board. Finally, to dissipate waste heat, the 'Mech has twelve double heat sinks.[1]
[edit] Armament

The primary weapons the JagerMech III carries, for long range combat, are two Mydron Model D-rf Light Ultra Autocannons that are capable of hitting with light damage out to seven hundred and fifty meters. For intermediate ranges, in spite of the state-of-the-art construction techniques used on the 'Mech, the JagerMech III relies on two Johnston Parti-Cannon PPCs backed up by two Intek Medium Lasers for close combat.[1]
[edit] Variants
  • JM6-D4 - The D4 variant, introduced in 3073[2], changes out the 'Mech's armor for Light Ferro-Fibrous armor. The 'Mech's Double Heatsinks have been increased to 16 so to handle the 'Mech's additional weapons. These additional weapons include a second pair of Medium lasers added to the center torso. In the arm actuators, the Ultra AC/2s have been replaced by Light PPCs. BV (2.0) = 1,831[6]

Sigh... A 4th hero for the heavy class, not against it tho, love the look and the potential of it.

Its just I was hoping for a hero spider or raven to join my death's knell but I shall wait.

Here is an idea pgi, release 2 or 3 hero lights at once so that you can still rake in the same kind of money that you would when releasing heroes for larger weight classes. Make me want to spend my mc and even buy more.

brave is doing whatever it takes to best support your unit, no matter what other people (especially a bunch of compugeeks on the internet ffs) think. Exposing your mech unnecessarily ain't it. Being able to use terrain to ones advantage is smart.

" in spite of the state-of-the-art construction techniques used on the 'Mech" - In spite of? I guess that's referring to the fact that PPCs (old tech) rather than ER PPCs are being used... ?

At least its not a light hero mech (the most pointless things EVER. Even the DK is meh because its a freaking light mech...) HEAVY AND ASSAULT HERO MECHS ONLY PLEASE :)!

black-red-gold? my first thought? the german banner colors. no surprise for me... the translation of the word "jäger" (ger) = "hunter" (eng). it is a victor-steiner-davion construction. i think with that heavy hero hunter mech skilled people can do mass of damage. however i own the dd and i cause with that model 400 to 600 damage per match. a good armed firebrand jm will do a good deal more.
