I have to admit I did not read all of the pages of this thread, but, I do hope while choosing the mechs you are wanting to use you are taking into account that this game is going to be based on urban combat, being a light mech-medium mech pilot myself, I would absolutley HATE to round a corner and run into a heavy or assault that alpha strikes me into the ground.
Taking that to mind, I will be running the heaviest Medium mech that I can get my hands on. :)

I would love to pilot an Enforcer, a Marauder or a Cestus if it is possible.

Devs should totally make a poll to pick the first batch of mechs...

Med mechs were my favorite. Yeah you can't take as much of a pounding, but you have to hit me first.

I'll be pretty honest here: I want to pilot an Atlas. If only so I can strut around the map telling myself I am piloting an Atlas.

But in my heart of hearts all I want is a missile boat. A big, clunky, walking pile of metal with enough LRMs, SRMs, and whatever other long-ranged weapons I can get my grubby, Periphery hands on.

Take a Stalker if its available in MW:O. 2xLRM10, 2xSRM6, 2xlarge laser, 4xmedium laser and more then enough armor to take a beating.
Well, its slow as hell and looks like a blimp with legs, but thats just adding to the overall appeal. :)

back in the MPBT days of AOL/GameStorm I was a Wolverine pilot..ain't nothing better than driving a med in circles 'round a lumbering salt and turning it's cockpit a pretty red:)

Actually I would like the Mech you pilot to be based on your skill, ie, start in a light and as you get better you can upgrade. Starting in an assault doesn't teach a pilot to work the machine..
Just my opinion folks..

I never liked Assault mechs because they were too slow. The only one I liked was the Battlemaster.

Personally I like heavy and medium mechs. The Warhammer is always a classic choice. For medium I'd go Griffin. I can't get enough of PPCs!

Lights and mediums all the way. I like the smaller, more agile, more purpose-driven 'mechs. It depends on how the game types work. I think with enough variation in game types and/or arenas possibly, small/medium will get some play due to speed and jump capabilities.

Also, small/medium mechs in an urban environment is a no-brainer.

I can't really make up my mind between three mechs: the Wolfhound, the Centurion, the Hunchback, and the Warhammer. I guess I'll find out once I hit the mechlab.

Ick. That mech looks like ***. LITERALLY.

As for the OP - I'll be piloting a CGR-1A1 Charger. :D What? It's a scout mech!.

Or maybe the original BNC-3E Banshee - an over-armored medium mech. :)

I can run circles around you in a Pheonix Hawk so I'm fine. That said, I do prefer a good ol Commando some times. :)

40 tons and under were always my favorites, with a few odd exceptions, but those exceptions were heavies that could move fast and carried jump jets. Like somebody already said, Assault mechs are for sissies !!!! :)

(fondly recall using a raven with narc and lasers to knock down an atlas....Let's here it for the Light mech Pilots!)
