Most people are ignorant, mindless, thoughtless, and above all, self serving most of the time. Welcome to the world, life isn't fair, grow up.

For the ones who don't care who Sarah is or why she has a mech, but want a hero Jenner,
PGI is taking their money and giving it to cancer research.

But here's a twist. I don't own any hero mechs aside from my Founder's Hunchback. I generally refuse to buy Hero mechs on general principle, but, since it's for charity and the memory of a little mechwarrior that is no longer with us, I'm going to pick this one up.
Does this in your broken little mind make me a bad person because I didn't just breakout the checkbook and randomly donate all my cash to random charities...
I'm not Bill Gates, in fact, I'm barely scraping by, but if I can do a good thing by playing the game I love by spending a few dollars...this does not make me shallow or hollow or whatever other crap you've been saying, you're just wrong. period.

and you needed them to make a crappy virtual toy in order for you to donate anything at all, PGI hasn't gotten any of my money in the past and won't be getting any in the foreseeable future because the product(s) they've released are either overpriced or just not worth buying.

Ever heard of the Pink Ribbon? I guess anyone sporting one of those is a "slacktivist" as well? Does awareness ribbons in general "stink to high heaven" as well?

yes actually (unless you somehow buy a ribbon and the proceeds go to charity)

Dear PGI:

Please stop Development of this game immediately. These whiney babies don't deserve any more of your hard work and efforts.

Cash in your chips and walk away. Find some other project with an audience who might actually give you all the care and consideration that your talents deserve.

Set fire to the servers on the way out the door. Leave nothing behind.

Seriously though, how dare these jerks question you. You gave us a surprise mech that we were not expecting.

On behalf of the community that still has faith in you, Thank you for this gift. Keep up the hard work.

[/list]I am a massive fan of the game, and a frequent investor in MC.

However, if you make me play against people using 3rd person view, this will be a deal-breaker and I will walk.

Funny how an ostrich with his head in the sand has something like that to say about people giving feedback in hopes of the game becoming better. Seriously, if we disagree with PGI it's because MWO deserves better, and MWO doesn't get better if you just throw that kind of garbage in here. It's feedback, as I said myself, not flaming, so get your facts straight - note that will require you to pull your head out of the sand.

So, how much of a tactical advantage was that 3rd person camera while knocked mech was actually uncontrolled by player? BTW I despised that switch to 3rd person back in closed Beta as immersion-breaking. Now I feel alike about the death camera, but it's not so bad because you're not piloting anymore during the round anyway .

absolutely none, it actually put you at a HUGE disadvantage.

to those of you who are saying plz no 3pv it will ruin the game don't MAKE ME or FORCE ME to play against 3pv....you are uninformed and don't deserve to be posting. Go read up on command chair and announcement third person threads before you post. Thank you.

That's kind of the whole point with awareness ribbons. You buy one to support a charity.

For Pink Ribbon, 90%+ of the revenues from merchandise and donations go to breast cancer research. 10% of revenue (up to a max of $20,000) is set aside for running the charity, the rest go to numerous research projects.

If I understood Bryans tweet correctly, 100% of the income from Sarah's mech will go to charity.

I fail to see the difference.

Confused = YES

If you say you are lying, then everything you say is a lie, but if it is true that you are saying you are lying, then you are telling the truth, which isn't a lie, but then you are not lying, cause you are telling the truth so that makes you honest...

if this is a move to get me to enjoy the great outdoors this summer; It's working..!

So, you're barely scraping by, you're not bill gates, but you're fully capable of buying a hero mech in MWO but not giving that same exact amount directly to the charity, in order to give money to charity?

/mind blown

simple minds are easily blown.

A hero jenner is going to cost, what? $7, $10?
I'm pretty broke but I think I can come up with $10. That does not make me Bill Gates.

So I've got $7...my first thought isn't to write a check for $7 to donate to a charity...What is my actual motivation to take my measily $7 and decide to find a charity to donate it to? Oh MW:O has a hero mech to honor a young girl that died of cancer and is donating the proceeds to a cancer charity...I play MW:O and like buying mechs....

Is PGI promoting the idea of charitable donation a good or bad thing?

tell ya what, don't worry your easily blown mind a single second longer about it...

No Orion? hrrrm, starting to lose interest. My Awesomes are junk, don't really like the Highlander, Quickdraw looks like the Trebuchet part 2. Big mistake to replace the Orion with the Quickdraw, don't do it.

And how do you have the Firebrand, Misery, and Pretty Baby in the same game? How is that balanced?

He's clearly not talking about people giving legitimate feedback. It's the idiots crying about all the idiotic things they cry about that he's talking about.

And just because someone doesn't complain endlessly about every minute detail like this is their baby, it doesn't mean he has his head in the sand. Leave it to someone without the ability to take the criticism he's so willing to give to come up with such a weak, dismissive argument.

I am, very much like Kiel, sick and tired of seeing a bunch if entitled crybabies whine about how the game is one form of broken.

Call me an ostrich, that doesnt mean this place isn't full of crybabies.

I have no want for 3rd person view, but am I the only one who doesn't think playing against it is that big of a deal? Yes, it grants a wider field of view, and in some cases, you can see around corners. But actual aiming is usually less effective, especially at greater ranges. As far as "seeing behind me", either I watched the person run past me (so I know they're there even in 1st person) or they have fired into my back long before the would ever enter my field of view.

The one place where I think it would be a true advantage is in the cannons or the crater of caustic. Valid argument there.

I'm also pretty sure I've read it will be somewhat of a "beginner" mode and will have a restricted HUD and capability. Even through they've stated you'll never s forced to play someone using 3rd person, I just don't think it would matter that much.

Edit: phone post/autocorrect issues

I definitely take exception to "crappy virtual toy" if you don't like this game then leave now. Why are you wasting your time here? I love this game, though far from perfect, I'd never consider it crappy. So you're just that guy who plays for free doesn't spend a penny but has something to say about everything? Just so we're clear, got it.

So even though 100% of the proceeds are going to charity you still aren't going to spend money...
....
...

I'm still the bad guy here?

I don't even consider it a charitable act really, it's kind of a win/win isn't it?

When is the last time you've donated to charity? Climb on down off that high horse.

LOL. See, we have a self-proclaimed moderator here. No premature thanks needed, because I'm not a kind person and not going to submit. So what are you going to do?

I read the 3rd person threads and other Piranha announcements enough to understand that whatever soothing statements they do about sensitive matters, it does not in the least guarantee that they won't screw things up in worst possible way when it comes to real implementation. Just one acronym: ECM. It was "working as intended" for too long before PGI regained some sanity.

if this is a move to get me to enjoy the great outdoors this summer; It's working..!

Vizzini: But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

Man in Black: You've made your decision then?

Vizzini: Not remotely. Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.

Man in Black: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

Vizzini: Wait till I get going! Now, where was I?

Man in Black: Australia.

Vizzini: Yes, Australia. And you must have suspected I would have known the powder's origin, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

Man in Black: You're just stalling now.

Vizzini: You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could've put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied, and in studying you must have learned that man is mortal, so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

Man in Black: You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.

Vizzini: IT HAS WORKED! YOU'VE GIVEN EVERYTHING AWAY! I KNOW WHERE THE POISON IS!

Man in Black: Then make your choice.

Vizzini: I will, and I choose - What in the world can that be?

Man in Black: [Vizzini gestures up and away from the table. Roberts looks. Vizzini swaps the goblets]

Man in Black: What? Where? I don't see anything.

Vizzini: Well, I- I could have sworn I saw something. No matter. First, let's drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours.

Man in Black, Vizzini: [Vizzini and the Man in Black drink]

Man in Black: You guessed wrong.

Vizzini: You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

Vizzini: [Vizzini stops suddenly, his smile frozen on his face and falls to the ground dead]

Buttercup: And to think, all that time it was your cup that was poisoned.

Man in Black: They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder.

@Vasces Diablo

Third Person conveys a view advantage. They see over terrian and objects you can't so when you see them they already have their shot lined up on you. In the past it has been exploited to great effect and this is why there is great concern.
