^This. I myself was going to buy the Firebrand tomorow. As a proud Davion the Jagermech is iconic for us and it looked like PGI was actually in the right path for a chance. Then they do a gadjet backpedal the likes i've never seen and give absolutly no explanation why. I'm pretty sure PGI is on a major power trip that they dont even consider the community to be of worth of transparency, for them we are all ten year olds screaming their heads off because his/her highlander JJ's one shot killer has now camera shake (which i loved) and the hackers will be shown more easily, instead of 34 year old military veterans like myself that actually give a damn to some outdated concepts like word of honor.

Food for thought PGI.

The thing that kept running through my head as I was internally debating the purchase was CliffyBs rant at gamers which is easily summed up as: If you don't like the developers, and / or their game, and / or their decisions do NOT give them any money, PERIOD. In the end that won out quite easily since I COULD get the Firebrand for it's own sake... but why? I wanted it for itself but also because playing it would get me better earning towards the Orions.

Frankly, everything about this Creative "Up"-date violates all three parts of CliffyBs point. So I saved some cash, OR I get to spend it on better things. Hear that PGI?

BETTER.

THINGS.

Want my money again? Do better than this (which honestly I don't see how you could NOT but I refuse to bet against you on that after the first and last time I did) and we'll talk. Am I the only one here voting with my wallet? Far from it. Some will agree with PGI... but if PGI settles for that, they're settling for less - and that's NOT the hallmark of sound judgement in business.

They never promised you the Orion would be there this month. You assumed it was going to be. Your own fault. Live with it.

Despite what I believe is an overreaction on his part, Elric has a point; the mech-art announcements established a precedent. That precedent, up until the Flea, implied that the art releases always predicted the next battlemech.

After the Flea, such a precedent returned, and everyone believed that it was a one-time occurrence due to the rollback MASC development received.

No, they never promised us the Orion. But breaking precedent in such an immediate way is still a dirty trick, to say the least.

Oh cry me a river. I'll be in my flea....OH WAIT

Precedent has already been set. The victor art has also been released and isn't this months mech, so doubly so?

Out of the art work I seen on Sarna the QKD-8X looks the best. I understand it is an "experimental" model but it looks mean. Obviously some of the features of this mech would never translate well to MWO but it is still a cool model for a such an undesirable mech.

Heh, it's actually true. Crisis could be averted if PGI did a barrel roll relased Quickdraw concept sometime last month, instead of two weeks before release.

Mech of the Month - Quickdraw (18th)

It isn't the Orion... already over it. People forget that PGI doesn't have to give us any information on any upcoming mechs and nobody is forcing them to spend a penny on this game if they don't want to. I figure if I compare my play time on this to my play time on Diablo3, I've already gotten my money's worth out of this game that I spent on my founder's package. I just want to see this game keep evolving. Every month we get something new even if it isn't what we were originally promised. It isn't like they've cancelled adding that mech in all together. People need to realize that there is a lot of stuff they are trying to deliver in a short amount of time. I mean it isn't like we are buying an expansion pack and waiting another 5 to 6 months for the new level cap instances, let alone raids, to come out such as in LotRO.

Hero `Mech of the Month - FireBrand (4th)

Knowing what my heat is usually like if I try to use an energy load out in a
Jaegermech makes me welcome this mech. Should perform very similar to
the CPLT-K2 and current Jaegermechs I think.

New Pattern(s) - Sherman (4th)
New Cockpit Item(s) - Spider Statue (18th)

More goodies. I still wish the cosmetics were leaps and bounds cheaper.

Special - Sarah's `Mech (25th)

If part of the proceeds go towards fighting some form of cancer, count me in. If not, the only hope of me buying this will be my love for jenners. A jenner hero mech would make my day.

The networking and hardware wizards are hard at work setting up this our new public testing environment. While not necessarily a new feature per se, this new server architecture will allow us to test a range of features from small tuning adjustments to large additions such as 12 v 12 and UI 2.0. This is part of our continued commitment to product quality and stability, along with involving the community in key aspects of the game’s development. The test servers will be coming online in June, and the first major test will feature 12 v 12 functionality.

I'm assuming the reasoning is this:
A public testing environment will be one more wall between those of you who just want to test and those of you who just want to play. This way they can get out new fixes to a larger testing group that in-house missed while not offending self-entitled people who constantly argue that because they are accepting cash, it should no longer be beta. Hard truth guys: Making games is expensive. When you spend 250 bucks on a game, you have just paid less than a week of someone's salary. This doesn't include marketing or overhead costs for running the servers. They need sources of revenue or this winds up like Duke Nukem Forever. If they figure out some way to make more rewarding "Premium Time" features for this game, I think the game will improve quite a bit. Adding a bonus for having spent any money on the game might help as well. Maybe allowing a player to run any stock/champion build to try them out rather than restricting to the 4 mechs of the month...

View PostBryan Ekman, on 04 June 2013 - 08:43 AM, said:

Further lance improvements make their way into the game this month. These adjustments are based of internal testing and player feedback. These new adjustments include text and audio queues when new orders are issued, Company and Lance Commander icons to identify leadership, revised chat color, and revised order icons for more clarity. If you haven’t tried out your leadership skills yet, have a go! Players can take command by pushing “B” for BattleGrid and taking either a Lance Command (4 players) or a Company Command (8 players).

All of this is nice, but we would still like to see which team is killing which and preferably their mech as well without having to constantly check the board.

Already edited my post prior to your reply. Almost forgot about the Flea mixup.

I never claimed that the art for a mech had to be released the same month of launch. Read my replies more carefully.

I'm aware of that, up to 6 months after CW is released. However, I'm correct still by stating there were 6 unannounced battlemechs and 4 of them are still unannounced. There is nothing saying they won't announce clan battlemechs....correct?

So your entire reply was. __________.

if you think that these 4 unannounced mechs are clan mechs, I believe you will be disappointed. With Quickdraw announcement, there is not equal number of mechs in each weight category so I believe at least 3 of 4 unannounced mechs are IS mechs.. one light, one medium and one assault.

No Orion? I was looking forward to it but.. meh. I'll live and I dont need to post some immature raging hate post accusing PGI of fraud and incompetence. Some of you people need to relax.

Im actually more concerned about the servers still being in MAINTENANCE for going on 5 hours now. Is that just the forum or are the game servers also down?

I have to say that I side with critics this time, at least as far as the Quickdraw is concerned. That was pretty left-field, even with the precedent set by the Flea.

I'm neutral about everything else.

Just to isolate the one thing in there that caught my eye:

The PGI contribution to DK:F was, as I recall, no more than the PvP module. In this instance it was NOT the revenue sources that sunk it, but PGIs stubborn refusal to listen to feedback and concerns from the community that told them what NOT to do - which they then DID, and then confessed bewilderment amongst the backlash when it failed.

History there is repeating itself HERE or they would've listened to us on many more things than they have. Note that I can't deny they've listened to reason, more than once. However the facts are undeniable: DK:Fs PvP was torpedoed by the very same lines of thinking that spawned todays Creative "Up"-date, meaning that MW:Os future is in the hands of people who have NOT learned how to listen to their clients effectively since the dead-on-arrival debacle of DK:F PvP. Frankly, if they haven't figured that out by now, they likely never will.

This is not a marketing trick, it is just another one in a long line of disappointments. Just use all resources to get that 3rd person view that no one wants working. ;)

Instead of collisions, or a proper gamemode, or anything that would set this game apart from being World of Mechs with a lot of unused potential.

Well **** you.

I just bought 12.000 bloody MC (Legendary Founder + about 200 € worth of MC spent so far, adding to that) to be prepared to buy all them Orions if my C-Bills aren't enough, just before I read the news.

I was looking forward to this mech ever since it was announced.
And now you just take it away. Without a warning. Without an announcement. Without any communication at all.

That's beyond daft.

**** you, seriously.
I'm stopping to play AND buying any MC until the Orion is released right now.
Enjoy your 4 months of regular income you just lost. And I don't give a rats arse about if I'm just "one" customer.

Heh. And I've always been the one that kept defending the game and just enjoying it.
Not anymore. I'll be back when the Orion arrives.

Daft ****ers.

MOTHER OF GOD

In the words of players of EVE Online can I has your stuffs when you ragequit?

They never said the orion was coming out on x date, that was the players predicting its likely release date, sucks if it is the mech you were waiting for, but deal with it.

You guys are crying over a mech switch that is very minor.

How about the fact that there is no new map this month? That seems like a much larger issue.

IGP is looking for a sales/marketing analyzer. Given what we have here, the old one needs to be replaced.

It's poor form to tell people 2 weeks before the anticipated date instead of a month. At least, PROVIDE LEGIT REASONS why this isn't going to happen.

It's almost like calling off a wedding the day before it occurs, because the caterer made the wrong food.

Quickdraw, no art, no previous announcement.

Why even have the art showcase? Do you just not have them anymore?
