I'd take Alex's word over Bryan's any day of the week.

Dont make a Drama about it.
Probably our Mechstyle-Magician had the stuff ready in the opposite order and when he told PGI they thought its not that bad anyway as we dont need another PPC boat yet and in the end both are right.

I am pretty sure the Quckdraw will be a Laserboat. :)

MISSILE!

Hyposrisy, est. We already resolved this but I guess as usual you decided "troll first think later".

Oh sure but ONLY if you change your story. This isn't technical, and the technical reasons you DID list were about animation and wireframe. Try again, dunce, lmao.

Oh... I should've yelled PULL huh. Oh well, as easy as ever to shoot you down.

The technical reasons I posted were POSSIBILITIES. I know, nuance escapes you in your efforts.

I resented it for pushing the Orion back, but the art's definitely making me reconsider buying one.

But the Orion has already been announced.

The announcement indicated (or at least implied) June 18th.

It's like a dragon with JJ. Too bad that if you use an XL engine a treb can carry more weapons and armor at 6/9/5 speeds and the same with a STD engine 5/8/5 speeds. Plus you have to face down a jag, cat, or phract vs a hunch, cic, or cent. So, I predict it being a bit crap in the meta.

ehhh... no.

Other people had set up the schedule, I simply worked through it
I just didn't know the specific reasons for the order, it didn't matter to me at the time.

Simply 2 separate perspectives of the same thing.

Unfortunately for us, The Ekman is the one making the decisions that affect everyone else and PGI and us. Which is why for ATD 40, my question is why in the heck did he think the Quickdraw offered more variety than the Orion.

I really do sympathize with Alex. Not only is The Ekman his boss, but he has to take ugly or garbage mechs and make something out of them. Which is why Urbie should be in the game.

Did not see this coming, but HOLY DAMN DOES THE REDESIGN LOOK GREAT!
You took a goofy-looking doodle of a mech, and made something slick enough to fit it's name. The story along with it is great too, describes the kind of shootout all of us cowboys-at-heart dream about.

Totally getting this chassis.

Maybe this is what Bryan Ekman meant when he said it adds something different to the meta. Because we don't have any useless mechs, right? :)

The Urbie is neither ugly nor garbage. It is beautiful and perfect.

Sometimes when people drew back in the 80's (and today) they were just plain simple on drugs

Edit: waaay off topic but does anyone remember that trial Catapult k2 with ppc's and machine guns

Just rewatched the mechwarrior 2 intro and maybe they were trying to pay homage to that :)

Sorry man paint a pig it is still a pig...

If this Mech is true to the TSR then this is the one as bad as the Charger.

As a Drill Instructor for the Head Hunters in MPBT on AOL and Game Storm, I made my recruits take these mechs when they progressed to Heavy and Assault Mechs. Yes true to the Battletech/MechWarrior Universe, Pilots got to use mechs per their rank no recruit ever ran a expensive Heavy or Assault Mech. Assaults were only allowed for Officers. Unless you OP this Mech it will suck in combat. Since we have no training grounds yet, This Mech is a big disappointment. So many good Mechs and now more garbage. I hope the price matches the value because I will not be buying this painted pig...

It's okay, Davions shouldn't be piloting Free World League 'mechs anyway.

I'm fine with it, the model looks good, and the Orion will eventually be available. They both matter. The Quickdraw may be our best chance of simulating the Griffin, and though there haven't been recorded variants with autocannon, it may be wise to add one with either a right-hand or over-the-right-shoulder mount to complete the sim of the 5/8/3-5 55'ers (with the Shadow Hawk and Wolverine, the three amoung the most effective mechs to ever take the battlefield). I'm not sure if they'll be able to add an actual 55 medium that could do it, though that would be still preferable.

The sunlight glinted off the top of his Mech, the sun close to setting in front of him. “This planet ain’t for you to be trompin’ around, lone wolf. It’s time for you to leave.”
The Man shifted the cigar in his mouth, replying “And I guess you’re the ones to show me off, then?”
“That’s right. And we’re thinkin’ that nice Mech o’ yours would be a good partin’ gift. So why don’t you get on out, and we’ll let you leave.”
“Well, that’s mighty kind of you,” he said, biting down on his cigar, “But I think I’m just going to walk outta here, if you don’t mind.”
“The thing is, loner, that we do mind.”
The two Mechs stood, stock still, facing eachother. To each side he saw Mechs coming in to flank him.
“I guess we’re doing this the hard way then,” he stated.
“For you, yeah we are!” the other man sneered, suddenly starting to raise his arms. The Man was faster though, bringing his six medium pulse lasers to bear on the enemy Atlas’ head, coring it in the blink of an eye. He shifted left, as lasers from a Cataphract burned past him. His next salvo took the pilot right in the chest, straight through the cockpit glass. Missiles landed around him as he spun and fired again, obliterating the side-torso of a Commando – he turned away as it slowly thudded to the ground, and stood staring straight at a Centurion pilot hiding behind a rocky outcropping.
“Now you are probably thinking you’ve got me. My guns are overheated and I can’t possibly fire again. If I fire I’ll overheat, shut down, and you’ll have me dead to rights. Ain’t that so?”
“I, uh, yeah. Yeah! Surrender now, get out of your Mech, and I’ll, uh, let you go!”
“Well you’re forgetting one thing, raider. One very important thing that has passed right over you, that you aren’t thinking of, that coulda saved your life.”
“Oh yeah, and what’s that!” the raider shouted, his voice breaking at the end.
“That the entire time I’ve been talking, my heat has dropped back down, and your cockpit is peeking out over the rock there.”

“Oh s-“ the pilot started to say, as six medium pulse laser shots hit his cockpit, exploding it outward. As his Centurion collapsed against the rock, The Man turned his Quickdraw towards the right, saying over his open mic.
Posted Image
“And you there, Raven behind that rock. I’m walking out of here, and you, you’re going to tell ‘em. Tell ‘em what happened here. Tell them that no-one tells me what to do."
And with that, he turned and walked towards the sunset, blue light low forming a halo around him.

It seems that no one noticed the near-subliminal implacations of the fiction. PGI just made out a Lone Wolf to be "BAD TO THE BONE!!!" That has to be a first! Could this be the first step towards a Lone Wolves being treated like a big boy club? Like a house that belongs to no house? Perhaps someday, we can have a banner and stuff!!! After reading the announcement, I'd be cool with an ashtray and cigar butt to set on my dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So.. lots of people are just saying that the Quickdraw is just another Dragon... 60t, 300 engine as stock...

But the Quickdraw can fly, while the Dragon has no JJs. Doesn't that mean the Quickdraw is more of a dragon than the Dragon?

Most people, IMHO, are thinking it just going to be another PPC boat. I am sure that will be the case. What I don't think people see is the chance for another Zombie mech. The center torso, near the waist line, may have missile slots. With those and the Obvious missile and energy points on the side torso you could make a 60 ton zombie CN9 style mech. The arm also look like they would make great shields. Some draw backs yes but, with ammo in the legs, you could be SRMing long after you had no sides.

We think alike sir. This is going to be my big daddy CN9-A. Just give me a variant with 3+ missile hardpoints.

EDIT: Oh, and it will go as fast as a CN9, have more armor, and have jumpjets. Depending on in-game model size and hitboxes, this could be my new squeeze.

JJ means not as much of a bite as the Dragon. Have to give up something to gain something.

The Dragon's designed to carry a bulk of weight in the form of a Ballistic weapon, but the Quickdraw is riddled with energy and missile hardpoints... that means a larger number of lighter weapons, like MLs and SRMs... and Flamers if you want to really go there. The Quickdraw can mount more Flamers and it can fly. :D

The Quickdraw is definitely more dragon than the Dragon :)
