Also I played with Beefhands today. From what I saw, he's a mediocre player.

Regardless of his level, he tried to make a balance thread and got two pages of it diluted by an elo troll and it's responses. If that's the vision of a better community they can have it, on their own site.

I should have known that you anti-competitive folks would take that post out of context, and not include the fact that I was responding to a troll with a sarcastic troll of my own.
Your out-of context quote sure says something.
That something is about you.

the post got a several responses in the thread, the troll got 1. Who did more to derail the issue?

Your sig does say it all.

By all I mean it reveals that you're an absolute passive-aggressive Napoleon-complex nonfactor tryhard troll, who gets off forumwarrioring but really has no argument to stand on nor has any credible gameplay experiences to fall back on.

In other words, you fail.

I have no problems with competition I just don't want to be forced into a high stakes professional e-"sport" league where winning is more important then having fun.

[Trolling] But some have nothing other they can be proud of!!!11111Eleven[/Trolling]

If i understand the system right, everyone has 8 eloscores (1 for every weightclass solo and grouped)?

Witch elo should count?

Your Solo-Elo in one class
Your Group-Elo in one class?
Your average elo based on all 8 elo-scores?
Whats with solo only players?
Whats with group only players?

But what does elo reallys say?
Does it say you are good?
Or the team you are playing with that carries you or that you carry?
Or the teams you randomly droped in carried by you or that carries you?
Or did it say you had luck and were droped against lower enemys?
Is it inflated from pugstomping with groups?

The system says nothing about you,
its just is a score that reflects your games history
and it is influenced by 12-15 random people.

Sorry for breaking some dreams ....

Look at the WoT forums. Unicum this, W/L ratio that.

The amount of abuse people take because of public performance stats is astounding and makes for a very toxic experience.

Don't forget the wotlabs or other stat signatures that many players use on the WoT forums to show off their stats that get pulled from the official WoT site.

Also, for those who think releasing stats would be a good idea just wait until someone develops a mod for MWO that will estimate your team's chance of winning based on the stats of the players on your team vs the stats of the players on the enemy team. Then you can rage at the matchmaker for sticking you on a team with a bunch of clueless players who are more likely to shoot teammates than enemies.

Even with the issues public stats create for WoT the game still seems far more fun than MWO.

I'm neutral regarding exposing exact Elo numbers, I see both positive and negative sides. I could deal with negatives.

I think introducing Leagues/Divisions like in Startcraft (Bronze-Platinum) and other games is even better. Knowing I'm in the middle of the pack is probably enough for me.

[/size]I hope you can understand that. If a low level player says that light mechs are overpowered because you personally can't hit them, she would not be speaking about a general problem with the balance of the game, she would be talking about what amounts to personal issues that she could fix via her own play.

I don't look down on low-level players who are comfortable with where they are and happy with their own level of play. However, my frustration comes to a head when low-level players beg for balance changes when there is no real problem in the first place, outside of her own play (or when she claims there is no problem at all, but there is only no problem for her because she isn't matched against good opponents.)

Interesting. I think we are finally making progress and getting closer to your real problem.

Well first off I wasn't trolling and second I agree with what you're saying, in a team based game such as this judging our rank purely by win/loss isn't really I good idea.

I stand by ELO being private, shows us our scores but not publicly. Those who care about it can use it to try and improve themselves.

For those wondering, xDeityx's post got messed up because of the not mentioned 10 Quote Rule, discovered it myself in another topic sometime back. If you have more than 10 Quotes in your post, formatting of quotes goes right out the cockpit.

I already see that in game when someone dies early and starts chatting things like, "Fail Team."

Yeah, that's normal in WoT but most players ignore it when it's coming from a player with really bad stats as their death usually helps the team do better for some strange reason. I can't imagine why that is...

My ELO/Stats are from Beta Testing for 14 months. Alot of that time was spent in various Awesomes and Pretty Baby and anything else that didn't work. You know bug-hunting. I don't really care, but maybe wait until everything resets and the game goes Live.

Old thread but I'll chime in.

ELO should always remain private. Forum warriors do not need more ammo.

Yeah, ELO can remain private, but your Unit stats should be ranked.

hey I've got an idea, let's make our ELO public, BUT! Let's also make our salaries public.

Boy this should be fun, can't wait to see a top player boast with a mcdonald's employee salary :(

See? This is why ELO should remain hidden.
