No leaks you say? You should have seen one of the posts last night.

I didn't see any actual leaks, but I did see some... interesting? posts from folks.

Here's how I come down on this... I really want to get my hands on this game. But, at the same time, I understand that the devs really don't have time to hand-pick thousands of beta testers. So, they set up some rules, and then roll the dice.

But at the same time, I totally understand the annoyance of folks who are really, really, REALLY into this game... folks who have been waiting for a decade for it to come out... when some guy shows up and says, "HAY GUYZ, I JUST GOT IN THE BETA, WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH ALL THESE ROBOTS?"

It's not really faulting the devs at all. They need a random sampling at certain stages in the testing process. And frankly, they need to appeal to folks who aren't hard core battletech/mechwarrior fans. There really aren't enough of us crazy die hards to support the game as well as it deserves to be supported, I don't think. So pull in some of those folks who have never heard of battletech and mechwarrior, and get them into it.

Besides, at some point the devs are almost certainly going to be putting this thing in open beta, in order to test what happens when all of us pile into the servers (assuming they're not going the Blizzard route of just having 1 server up on launch day, and then saying "Server! Y U No Handle Load?!").

As a result, I'm thinking we'll all get a chance to play soon, probably in the next few weeks. Do I wish I could play, right now? Yes. But I'm not gonna scream at the devs and say that I somehow deserve to be in the beta.

What's funny to me, as a software developer, is how testing games has become this thing that we actually like to do... It's like Tom Sawyer... "Hey Paul! I'll let you have my best marbles if you let me paint your fence!" I know that I gotta PAY folks to test my software usually.

While random is fine they should get people who know how to look for bugs and have beta tested games in the past. Having played online games since the good old BBS days it always amazes me what I or others find after beta testing in the first few days. Most people who beta test just want to play the game to get an edge on others. Good beta testers are the ones who spend 90% of their time trying to get the game to bug so they can report it. Rather it be a money bug, skill bug or just random other bug's that pop up when something not normal is done when the game is played.

When you are talking about a game whose origin was many years ago, it is safe tos ay the main populace will be more mature then more recent and skill-less kiddie mmo's that give the younger current teenage generation more stupidity than brains (not to rant or insult, but anyone who has played World of Tanks or other general match mmo's know this to be true.)

We would all love to get in beta, personally i would jump at the chance, however i'm not a MW vet, i've played a few MW games and some other Mech games, but i'm no vet. I will patiently wait till open beta when it comes, but i don't know if i really expect to get in closed beta, since there are much more outgoing and veteran members on here. Gl to all, keep the game balanced

Damn, yes... my regular online game right now is LoL... and... the community... -.-
(I have to say, tho, MOBAs tend to make everyone rage like a 12 yo kid)

Well, I did work as a beta tester for a living some time ago. I hope that could weigh in.

Wether I do or don't get a Beta Key I'll just be happy to play a MW game again. It's been way too long.

I'm actually concerned for myself, because I don't remember if I registered for the beta before or after I bought my new computer, so my system specifications may be wrong. AMAGAH!

I'm sure their is a closed beta forum that all the guys in the beta are useing. I know thats the way its been for all the other games I have beta tested. We had our own closed beta forums that we posted an read threw. An trying to keep up with them was enough to do much less trying to get up with the public forums wile making time to play the game.

Personally, I was on the closed beta test for Lineage2 a p2p game. I loved it so I had 9 accounts for 6 years @ $15 for each. Then when WoT came out I joined that closed beta. I have been playing ever since buying gold to keep up with the other top players. Do deserve a beta key? The answer is no. I would like one sure. Like everyone else who has not got one. Either way when open beta comes be sure to see me on the field playing. What I hope to be the MMO of the year MWO.

I'm confident it will be MMO of the year. It seems to have all the best elements in it and I'm really looking forward to an MMO where we don't have people avatars. Just great big stomping mechs, screw all that running about on feet in games meant to be set in the future etc.

That's not his face... It's a pixilation due to the fact that showing his flaming arse would be contrary to this forum terms of use !

Your correct Mirties Masina.

Congratulations zStorm, your prize is beta access and I bet you didn't even know this thread was a competition right? You didn't read the full post did you?

It is a competition and you won, don't believe me go back to the OP and read it.
