My personal observation:
1.) MW:O is presently where is should have been post CB. In general gameplay is solid albeit sparse in areas. PGI seems to be fairly hell bent on getting a viable product to the sale floor for the bonafide release date. It's not perfect by any means but shows great promise moving forward.
2.) Yes... Players are leaving. That said, to some degree IMHO it's a good thing. Many of those who have packed their bags, flipped us the bird and stomped out of here to a large degree were highly vocal and persistent detractors to MW:O and PGI. Their dogged efforts to vilify PGI, dis repudiate MW:O and attack any supporters of this franchise was a cancer on this community and I for one do not miss them.
3.) This community is largely comprised of extremely passionate players... Sometimes their vigor and enthusiasm can be a little abrasive but that said, even amidst their ardent thunder... a lot of good thoughts and suggestions can be gleaned. Parallel to this premise... one needs to also understand that the vocal community here at MW:O is but a fraction of the total playerbase and does not necessarily mirror active player-count.
Take my observations for what you will...

Point 1: Agreed. This is where the game should have been at when we launched into open beta frankly. I was one of the ones that tried to get PGI to see reason, and to push back open beta a good bit longer. But well, obviously that didn't work.
Point 2: Wrong mindset I must say. Players leaving, even the "vocal annoying ones" is a bad sign. And I know that MWO's lost a good amount of the player base. PGI can hide behind it's "But the player counter was never accurate because of different play times, different prime times in different areas, ect ect. it'll give a misrepresented view." Speal all they want. the fact of the matter is they don't want us to know the numbers because the numbers are horribly low compared to what it was like in the heyday of closed beta. I think the biggest slap to the face of the community was the devs saying the forums don't matter... not updating news here, and posting on Reddit of all places. That place is like a huggy 4chainz. where any negative feedback is squashed by rabid {Noble MechWarriors} who say PGI can do no wrong. But the devs gravitated there because they can get good feels and ignore the problems. Let's not forget the removal of a real "General discussion" board. There are many reasons we have less players now, and most of them are due to PGI's bonehead PR tactics.
point 3: Very much so. This is a 20+ year old IP they're working with, with a rich history, a good number of players, and tons of loyalty. There are always going to be good and bad suggestions. I've made some of both, as have many of us here on these forums. But the devs seem to like to ignore the forums. Remember, we're "Not representative of the player base." and that Their main market is the Twitter, Facebook, Reddit crowd. Oh let's not forget all the requests at Conventions for 3'rd person view... despite the 5000+ members of the forum who voted NO on 3rd person.
DaZur, no offense, but you seem to be a bit PGI fanboyish in this post. that's not a terrible thing, but you have to be willing to admit they've done some pretty stupid stuff with this game, and towards the forum community. And we, as players, only have so much we can do back. And for many, they decided enough was enough and walked away... me, I feel like a battered housewife with this game. I keep coming back despite how much they hurt me with decisions. The latest change that was a punch to the gut? An awesome change to fix the jump sniping issue, only to find out the Orion was getting pushed back several months, for the Quickdraw of all things... I'm all for new mechs but really, the quickdraw? For "meta" reasons, according to bryan.
I swear sometimes they have no idea what they're doing in the office... or this is just one big social experiment to see how much some of us will take before we walk away.
