For all these people that claim to be playing, I never see any of you. And I drop lots.

Just sayin :D

I saw you 4 times yesterday over 8 matches I've played. That's 3 times too many. It's obvious the player pool is decreasing.

I get the same thing, also takes so long to get a match these days that I go send a few emails and play a few ****** FB games whilst it finds one.

Longest I've waited is around 60 seconds, most times I'm in under 10 seconds, though I've had a few can't find matches, this has been times from between 8am GMT(BST) to,1am the next morning, obviously, not in one sitting :D You must play some funky hours, or write some very short E-mails ?

World of Tanks forum has around 1348 users online at the moment, and MWO forum has around 1305. Game forum activity doesn't tell you the total number of people playing, but it gives you a vague idea.

B. No missions or campaign to practice against AI Mechs and tanks.

You can't pactice against AI for a PvP match. Just like in an MMO "practicing" against a raid boss does absolutely nothing for your PvP skills.

D. It is difficult for players to learn when there is no respawning in both current modes (Don't give me the drama about it. It would be best for the game to have a mix of more traditional Mechwarrior modes and more "friendly" modes for the casual or new.)

If you play with respawn, you learn how to play with respawn. If you play without it, you learn how to play without it. These are two completely separate types of gameplay and you can't learn one by playing another.

G. Game lacks proper logic in terms of weapon and armor availability for each weight (Imagine playing for the first time and realizing that some of these Light Mechs seem to last as long as the Mediums.)

I don't quite follow you on this one - armor is the function of mech weight, so lights always have less armor than mediums. Any weapon can be mounted on any mech if it has enough crit space, free tonnage, and appropriate hardpoint. There are no "medium mech only" weapons in game.

I agree with the rest of your points though.

I've been playing 10-15 matches in which I've seen the same players over 8 matches. "Same players", "Wow you again", "What is that like 5 times". I'm even waiting a good 5 minutes before pressing launch. Playerbase must be at an all time low.

ELO matchmaking is also fubar, as it is throwing brand new players into the mix with experienced players. PGI really has to do something about that. Otherwise, even their "target demographic" players are going to pull out.

Please, educate me on how many unique users you believe log into MWO at least once per month.

No, it doesn't mean that the pool is decreasing, it just means that the pool within that 2 minutes where you clicked "Launch" indicated that he was a match for your level of skill.

It's like you hate dropping with me. :D

Sorry I didn't notice you though. I'm surprised you noticed me, lol. I must have either done really well, or really poorly on those rounds. I hope it was really well. :D

No one wants to fight 8 PPC/Gauss stalkers...

unless they use their arbitrary gypsy magic and set max number of PPCs to 1 per mech before heat penalty, the next patch will change nothing.

I am on these forums quite often. I know the frequent posters. That's about all I remember. Most matches end up the same anyway. Nothing good, mostly bad on either side. I've seen you several times on a raven.

Ah nice to know since their website counter matches MWO's, they have the same population sizes. No problems here, move along.

Deleting the Raven would go a long way towards making MWO feel a lot less like a CoD mod, and more like a mech sim.

8 mans are much MUCH worse, 5 fails before you get a match on average at night. honestly they need to let 8 mans back into general play. Before you cry foul let me remind you this is in fact a team based game, and 8 mans shouldn't be penalized and deprived games because they are in fact playing as a team, you know like it was intended. If anything it will be a better incentive for pugs to group up in voice coms and find clans. ELO should go down as an experiment with the best of intentions and the worst of outcomes because while it does work to a certain extent for single players it does not work for premades against single players. I'm not saying there shouldn't be some sort of system, I'm just saying this one shouldn't be it.

I find this thread highly amusing.

Honestly non of us have any idea of the population of the game currently. It could be bad, or it could be good.

I was on last night from 9PM to 12 AM central time. I played roughly 15 matches. In that time I don't remember seeing the same name twice.

I DID see many premades (you can usually tell by config or tactics), I did see a fairly wide range of configs (not as wide as I would like but decent).

I DID see Lasers, PPC's, Gauss,AC20's, UAC5's and even LRM's all in fairly heavy use. (a vast improvement over even 2 weeks ago).

I DID see lights, mediums, Heavies and Assaults (although I was focused on conquest).

But guess what. NONE of that means anything. It is the observations of one person.

MWO will succeed or not. In the end there is very little any of us can do. If you like the game, play it. If you don't leave. Complaining and fretting over it is just stupid. If there really is a population problem, PGI knows it better than us and either will address it or fail to address it.

Playing chicken little on the forums is not going to have any effect whatsoever. All it does is give the doomsayers a place to get all emo.

I think that the only way to get people to play 8 man at this point is to promise them that they won't have to play against 8 mans speaks volumes.

must reiterate....this is still BETA...not available to general public yet so player count will be l ow until Aug-Sept when released. As it is now, we can all get to know each other, make friends, lancemates, etc., which will be a huge advantage when it does come out.

mainly it speaks to the lack of people wanting real competition as a team. Which means that no matter what people say, PGI should be focusing the game on pub play. Which suck IMO, but hey, the population is what it is...

edit: That having been said, a team based ELo mechanism for 8/12 man queues might be nice.

I suspect the player base will start to increase once some sort of new fricken (not my first choice word) implementation is made - private matches, lobby, new game mode SOMETHING OTHER THAN MECHS AND MAPS.

Few months ago, we were simul dropping two 8 man's w/ people left over in other lobbies (not great, I know, but we're a small niche group)...now most nights it's hard to get a full 4 man going.

I just wish PGI would throw us a bone or two to keep things interesting (LIKE PRIVATE MATCHES).

This is available to the general public as far as I know, with a beta disclaimer.

Game forum activity really tells very little about the in game activity or total active population.

A very healthy game might still have a low online user count on the forums because there are more players enjoying the game while a game that is in trouble might have a rather high online user forum count due to players complaining about problems.

The other side of it might be a healthy game that has a high forum population due to new players trying to learn about the game before they start playing.

The number of users on a forum at any given time is a very poor indicator of in-game activity.
