Def need an Aus server. It's hard enugh playing CS:S with 80-90 ping do not want 200+ ping with this.

I really want to buy a founders pack, but the burning question of latency has me on the fence. The only games I have played on US servers have been MMO's and D3, and even in those apparently forgiving genres the lag did irritate me. I had a bit of a look but can't seem to find any word from the devs on the topic. Does anyone know if they have said anything?

At the current point in time and for release there will be only NA servers.
However I see no problem with them adding servers in other regions as time and resources permits.
It would benefit everyone I think.

I would not let ping/lag worries hold you back from buying a founders if that is the only thing doing so. Sure, ping is always going to have an effect in any first person shooter style game, but there are ways to deal with this for both players and developers and PGI seems well aware that this game will have a global audience rather than just targeting US gamers.

I heartily endorse the idea of Oceanic hosting. It makes all the different with these sort of games, Star Wars: The Old Republic being a great example.

I actually work at Australian ISP iiNet in the team that manages their game servers. I've sent an email through to general@piranha-games.com to hopefully discuss the possibility of bringing Oceanic servers to MWO. Fingers crossed!

It'd be great to get someone like iiNet onboard to help offset the inevitable costs of Australian hosting. They're remarkably not-evil as far as ISPs go, although I am a little scared by the whole merger between 3FL and games.on.net.

+1 for AUS .. even if you provide the server files and make it so we can host our own - update our stats and cash via us server but the actual gameplay hosted locally .

+1 I endorse this product. I think it would be great to have a server locally to minimize lag for Aussie punters.
