What are they going to do with the Madcat?

Give it 4 arm locations? 4 torsos?

Just curious.

Whatever they do about the pods, the head hitbox will probably be big enough to make the Catapult feel pity for it. No amount of cheesy Clantech will be able to save the Mad Kitty from convergence.

With hit boxes as they are, Timber Wolf (Mad Cat) pilots and on that matter, Dire Wolf (Daishi) pilots might as well eject at the start of match. Its going to suck for them.

Rumor has it, that the Madcat will have seperate hit boxes for the shoulder missile launchers. Someone on the forum timed the screen capture at just the right moment on startup. It showed square hit boxes above the arms on the damage graphic.

Obviously that can change, but I think that will be the direction they head.

P.S. Sorry, don't know the thread, so I don't have a link to post.

Actually, since this game is from the IS point of view, it will probably be called a Madcat. Since MW2 was my first Mechwarrior game, I too want to call it a Timberwolf.

We'll see how they implement clans. If we get to choose a clan like people chose an Inner Sphere faction then I want it to be named accordingly.

I'd also like the cockpit identification to go crazy on Inner Sphere mechs when they see a Timberwolf because the computer can't decide if it's a Catapult or Marauder

It'll just call it a Catapult.
No such thing as a Marauder. *glares at HG*

It'll probably look like a big block, with a blocky cockpit, and thunder thighs.

I was with you till you mentioned the Dire Wolf, if you have the time to stand in front of and aim for a headshot on that monster they are doing it wrong

Quite right mechwarrior fate.

Thing with the timberwolf is it has far better range due to superior Clan tech meaning getting close enough for a clean headshot will be harder.

Why would they give it 4 torsos? MadCat Missile racks are part of Left and Right Torsos.

Because huge hitboxes + convergence = Mad Cat being dead on arrival.

TT didn't have any hitbox issues because shots hit random places and thus the Timber Wolf was able to actually contribute to its team.

Desktop name is Timberwolf. Laptop name is Mad Cat. My first character in EQ was Highlander (not the movie). I'm such a geek.

It was a HUD bug, had this one, looked about like the screenshot posted above.

I don't think that's proof of anything just yet though. It's quite possible that's just a remnant from some system that was never publicly implemented; if the Timberwolf gets two additional component sections, well, it gets more crits and more places to spread damage, and that doesn't seem like a great idea from a balance perspective to me.
