Damn Goons! They finance the destruction of my miners in EVE and troll pubbies everywhere they go! It'd be so easy to hate them if they weren't so sexy...

After reading the somethingawful forums( which i can't post on without paying 10 dollars apparently) as the one who made this thread and as a fellow Cappellan, I apologize to those who feel insulted for any insulting, rude, or demeaning posts against Goonswarm, Word of Lowtax, or somethingawfulforums whether deserved or not.
Although it seems their used to it and find it rather entertaining.

Goons and GoonSwarm gets a lot of hate, but it's because we play competitively. As we like to say in GoonSwarm, it's not that we're better than everyone else, it's that we're just slightly less horrible. Also if you have some crazy made up space Bushido thing going on and expect everyone else to adhere to your made up rules, you'll have a pretty bad experience playing against goons.

Sorry, but every time I've met a goonie outside of EVE, they generally represent the worst part of the gaming population. Teamkilling, picking on new people, generally acting as though they can get away with anything simply because of their numbers, and because no one in their organisation has any pride beyond getting the job done. I once called a group of Goons out on their bad behavior (killing a teammate), only to get laughed at with the reply 'You ever heard of Goonswarm? No one cares." Goonswarm seems to be the lowest common denominator, with a complete lack of respect for anything but themselves. I'm sure they believe this is just fine, and being competitive, but actual pride and skill would require grace, which I have yet to see from the organization. Frankly, stay in EVE. Goonswarm may be skilled enough to win, but they'll cause people to avoid this game simply because of the taint they put on the experience. In essence, I don't begrudge Goonswarm their skill, I begrudge them because win or lose, they show no respect to anything.
Edit: The anecdote stated occurred in WoT.

Used to Fly with BDEAL and TEST all the time. I remember the DRF invasion of Deklein and being part of Alphafleet knocking the Russians back. Good times side by side with the Goons and many more from the Coalition. Been a long time since I took my old rustbuckets out of dock.

I will still give them a chance, sometimes people get tired of being classified as the dirt of community, I sincerely hope they endeavor to make a good rep for themselves in MW:O, especially since their attaching themselves to the Capellan Confederation who already gets the "Bad Guy" theme from everyone else.

As the Best Poster in the Word of Lowtax I accept your apology. Apologizing is a sign of strength of character and maturity unlike say making up random **** and attributing it to us like other people* might do.

I'm not certain, but I once heard that the goonswarm eats babies. It happened to my father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate's baby.

Honestly, I can't imagine that having the goons in MWO being anything other than good. All it will mean is:
1. Significantly more players for PGI to get money from.
2. I'll have a hilarious match every now and then where the entire enemy team is goons using nothing but flamers.

Adridos is just mad because the goons are already more Cappellan than he will ever be and that is eating him up.

Naa i think its more along the lines of him unwilling to let people with a bad rep in his Capellan Confederation without a fight/debate, although I am curious why he took such a negative stance on the subject at the very beginning...

Its moreso the goons mentalaty on you think your better than the rest of the community, and somehow have the right to interfere with intended gameplay mechanics/designs purely to "prove a point" to players/developers of the game your doing it in. You also spam forum threads where players talk against you so they get closed, in an attempt to controll what people see/hear about you.

If you were a highly competative bunch that diddnt do what's stated above, people would be in awe/respect your skill, and be jealous of you. But that will never happen, as you all lack skill, but dont lack numbers. You think numbers = skill, and trashtalking = epeen.

Tho i must comment, so far youv'e been very "tame" on these forums.

Explain world of tanks pls

World of Tanks uses the same kind of matchmaking MWO will, with teams of 15 vs 15 instead of 12 vs 12. Can't use numbers to an advantage there.

So how is it that Goons are the best at WoT when we can't use a numerical advantage?

I can't think of a better boon to a faction than having a large, dedicated, already organized force joining it. I really can't see a downside to having them here.

We will see what we see. I still think people are underestimating what the "SA" guys are going to be bringing to the table. If people sit on these forums and sperg about Eve/whateverSA/Goons - it *will* take away from the game.

Hell!

ITS GIANT FIGHTING ROBOTS W/FRIKKENLAZER BEAMS!

It's Mechwarrior Online!

Gold NDP/SGLE have all the gold and they won't share it with all the clearly superior pub clans
