I run MWO on my laptop which has a Pentium T4500 @ 2.3 Ghz and onboard graphics. I run the game at 10 fps medium settings 720p.... This is a 3 year old laptop doing half as well as this new APU. lol I wouldn't run an APU for gaming unless i was poor and stupid (i have 1 down(poor)). But my desktop with an i5-2320 and XFX 7750HD do fine on ultra so i will never be testing an APU.
of course a i5 with a dedicated GPU will own the APU which is just running the Integrated Graphics but I am pretty sure if we plug in a HD7770 to X-Fire with the onboard GPU and using latest drivers it will be a different story
not that we are bragging about the APU, but AMD is doing one fine job with the APU lineup
if they keep this up and iron out the issues, maybe we can really see a desktop version of the PS4 hardware in the near future 8 Core APU with GDDR5
well aside from it having a power for gaming on the chip itself.. how about insurance?
if your video card dies you're out until you can slap a new one in it..
if you have an APU then guess what, you can still play your games (maybe not with your preferred settings) but you can do it.. I think its awesome.. I absolutely love the 6800K.. and I also love my 8350 for encoding and rendering. even though the 8350 with a 7970 is my main gaming setup the 6800K with no graphics card can still pull good framerates in all the same games at a lower spec..
its awesome..
The concept is good but personally the current capabilities for me aren't good enough. If your getting your first pc or you run classic and other low end games sure it good. Apart from that, it has potential but atm nty.
There are a lot more high end, beautiful games coming. Like Star citizen even War thunder should be awesome with a good Nvidia card. Why miss out on all that graphic improvement going on.
If i where to get that 6800K i would also need a new motherboard. For the same price in total i would have a good grafics card and my current graphics card as back up. Same result but 10 times better. And honestly having tried 6 core i'm not going back.

believe me, I have an 8 core processor and love it... but if your entire machine died due to water cooling burst or some other unspoken mishap (god forbid) and were starting FROM SCRATCH, it could be used to make a starter machine that you could grow and flourish into a beast system..
now if you have the money off bat, go for the stand alone graphics because it will always beat integrated.. but seeing first hand how it performs, I love it....
no, i'm not getting rid of my 8 core and 7970 to have JUST that because I spent my money on a stand alone card... and I can play anything I want on max settings...
but, this is still a great chip for gaming and rendering too, not as good as the 8350 of course, but its still pretty good.. even under intense loads..
i'm currently uploading right now (really long video) but I play Cube World while hosting the server for it and it maxes out the 6800K and it still performs great!

Maybe you guys can help me out. I just bought this computer (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16883256743) this last week and have been trying to run MWO on it, but I only get about 11 fps (1024x768, quality set to low). Is there any way I can squeeze more out of this system and get a playable 25+ fps, without buying a dedicated graphics card? The computer I linked to is an hp. Here are some of the specs:
APU A8-5500(3.2GHz/3.7GHz turbo)
Memory: 8GB DDR3, 1600 MHz
Integrated GPU:AMD Radeon HD 7560D
So this is a trinity processor, like the one being discussed, albeit a weaker one.
Is there anyway to boost my fps? I've never over clocked before, but I'm willing to try. Will that make a noticeable difference?
I had really hoped I would be getting at least 20 fps with this computer...
Sorry to say but without a 5800k your pretty much stuck... no OC ability and the clock is drastically low, plus your 1600 speed RAM isn't helping either.
Tomb Raider on the 6800K.. messed with the settings durning the recording.. so the framerate on the video itself looks funky cause I didn't change the recording to match the video... but it was recorded in 1080P at 30FPS then compressed slightly.

Those APUs really offer an entry level solution for gamers who can not spend thousands just to get the latest ePeen slapping equipment. I built a system for a friend on low budget, so used AMD 5800K + 8Gb DDR3 + nVidia 560GTX Ti 2Gb card. Total price around 400€ as GPU was an used one with warranty. He is a happy camper now as he can play his games with decent performance, something he could not do before. So I think APUs are a quite viable option.
My own rig runs the FX-8350 + 7970HD GHz Edition and 16Gb of 1866MHz DDR3. At resolution 1920x1080 using all maxed out except Motion Blur Off, Post Processing Low and Antialiasing Off the game runs at an average of 70FPS, on some maps even higher. I use VSync on.
I did some battlefield 3 gameplay.. but my audio didn't record right and have to do it over.. but you can see the framerates and gameplay.. i'll make another video on BF3 soon

hmm... I need to get the 13.8 beta drivers... meant to do it but totally forgot... and i'm still on the stock 1866 RAM they sent me and don't exactly plan on modding that to much as its a pretty generic build as is..
Hi, it's been literally a decade ago when I las built a PC (using laptops since),
but around 2014 april I plan to build a desktop again, mainly for gaming.
So, about the A10-***, have you tested it with a discrete GPU against an i5-*** whatever?
I'm undecided, whether to go i5 (by that time, most likely Haswell, no overclocking planned) + discrete or AMD A10- something + discrete card. Also, what works better with AMD, and AMD card or Nvidia?
Obviously the AMD option would be cheaper, and thus preferable.

i5>all AMD for gaming if you've got the money.
If you have a budget in mind for your build start a thread and we'll be happy to suggest a build.
