If I could pick the mechs I wanted I'd toss $20 your way for some Shadow Hawks. Pretty much not interested in Locusts for $20. As it stands I'll probably just wait for the C-Bill variant and spend the money on some MC instead. Still cool though.

The sad part is, that the game only needs to be good enough for PGI to make people buy stuff. Seems the game is working as intended in it's current state, even w/o community warfare, lobby, any real balance etc.

Really hope they invest the money they make from this into making the game better. But I fear we'll just get more of what we pay for.

Got my Overlord Package ordered, Now for the ability to gift Mechs, or to place them in a Pool for other players in your Company clan, merc outfit, or whatever you may wish to call it) to use in large group vs group warfare.

If they implement ability to gift mechs, I am sure it would cause birth of black market - and I suppose this not something PGI and IGP wants, because it would tighten their $ income :P

half of mechs from this offer probably drag their arms over ground (like HGN), engines are made in China, ELO is in fact Commodore 64k, Betty is run by Spectrum ZX81.....

Gambling with real money ppl....skip it, boycott PGI, wait for Alpha Release of MWO and then decide what to buy. We already made them millionaires... I believe, each time they are trippin' to buy new car or to pay for vacation on Hawai....BOOOM, there it is, new special offer, once in life opportunity...only 80-90 bucks....no way, not this time PGI, not even for a bag of candies!

So we are going to get the Battlemaster a HUNDRED (100) DAYS later if we don't buy PP. Might as well release the clan mechs now. Those who don't buy them for $ get them summer next year.

I was originally against this idea the moment I heard about it...

But now I gotta say: I AM ******* IN!!! TAKE MY MONEY AND MAKE ME AN OVERLORD!!

80bucks for a billion mechs early compared to the real release?
**** YES!!!

80 bucks comming your way PGI. ETA 3 days.

You do realize that alpha comes before beta right?
If it went into alpha then the game would be devolving and not evolving :b

I wonder if the camo on the Phoenix Mechs is like:

1) Like Founders = Only the trim is changeable
2) Like Heroes = only colors can be adjusted
3) Normal Mechs = Pattern and colors can be adjusted

I'm inclined to think they'll be more like the Hero Mechs, unique in their patterns but able to be customized more than the Founders were. Given that the Founders Mechs were the first non-standard templates put out into the wild and they've only continued to improve since then with each Hero Mech iteration.

Edit: It would be ideal though if you were able to use purchased patterns on them as well, otherwise the pattern unlocks purchased for your 2 Standard variants wouldn't be 'wasted'.

after alot of consideration, i know myself well enough to know that i will not be able to resist buying this package. i still have a lot of issues regarding the devs recent balance and proposed balance changes. jj shake and new heat management systems are just so bad that they are incomprehensible. i still have hope though.

I think the defining question about choosing to buy this package is if the player believes they will be buying these mechs anyway when they come out. If they know they will be purchasing all of the mechs in the package level they are looking at, then it seems like a good deal ('hero' version of the mech, 2 standard variants to allow progression to Master in each, required mechbays for each). If not, then this probably won't be worth it to that player.

Why if we are using unseen:

did we get the Thunderbolt?

You have the warhammer, Marauder, and rifleman, all in the same weight class. All far more popular, all better mechs.

I mean really?

Meh. Nothing I want. Paid 120 for my founders package, and have yet to see anything that has truly impressed me, let alone make me want to activate the premium time or spend the MC I have now. Only one of these mechs I ever used in tabletop, was the Thunderbolt, and not very often. My guess is, the other unseen/reseen mechs, might still have some lingering legal issues, but who knows. If this package, say, included a Valkyrie, Griffon or Scorpion, Warhammer or Marauder, and a Behemoth, might consider tossing away more money. But, not right now. Will wait for the Clans, if they ever show up. I can haz Ebon Jaguar or Hellbringer plz.?

Not in my case :P(

Because Harmony Gold has a litigious trigger finger, and unfortunately those 3 designs were all listed as contested from the Macross series. Perhaps we may see them down the road, radically redesigned or even outright purchased, but given HG's past legal battles, caution is absolutely the best exercise where they are concerned.

First of all: Do not mock the Thunderbolt, one of the best, most solidly designed mechs of its weightclass with armament making it quite competetive with your vaunted Marauders and Warhammers, and armor enough to make those heavier mechs seem like fragile, little girl's blouses!

Now that I've defended the finest mech ever to take the tabletop field, the answer to your question:

There could be two reasons we're not getting a Warhammer, Marauder, Rifleman or Archer (or Longbow or Crusader or any of the Ost-series mechs or the Phoenix Hawk, Valkyrie, Stinger or Wasp for that matter) in this instance:

1) The above mechs are all Macross designs, and Macross means they're also Robotech designs. And Robotech means Harmony Gold is involved. And Harmony Gold are the ******** who sued FASA in the first place, the event which ultimately led to the whole Unseen thing. The mechs released now are, on the other hand, from completely different sources than Macross. The Locust is from an anime named Crusher Joe, and the Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt and Battlemaster originate from Fang of the Sun Dougram (along with the Wolverine, Griffin, Scorpion and Goliath).

2) They're holding off on the Macross unseen for a second big reveal/sale at a later date because they know (just like we all know) that those are the more famous and popular of the Unseen, warranted or not. Any sale involving a Warhammer or Marauder would probably be like putting a direct pipeline into the player base's bank accounts and doesn't need to be bundled with anything else.

Also. Given the price of these packs. Are no founders pissed?

At the time the founders packs were being offered the game had yet to be in a place where it was being tested. As we got to test for more than 6months before open beta began no not pissed. We also got some MC to make a big dent in things we really wanted.

If this price point is correct, it SHOULD get some folks to say hey that's not much more than I would pay in 6months on an MMO. I can do this.

As someone said earlier the point of bundles of ascending cost is to provide the smallest bundle with value, but have an increasing amount of value per level of price.

This bundle only provides value at 80$, so people who are willing to only spend 20-40$ at a time are alienated from this bundle. It's a shame because I want to spend money for some phoenix mechs, but I can't reasonably justify 20 because Locust seems like such a bad mech. I also can't justify 40 because of how much I'll spend on a locust to get a Shadow Hawk.

Instead PGI gets no money and I'm gonna spend it on another F2P or on steam sales.

This is answered in the FAQ:

Quote

Q: Are the Project Phoenix Phoenix Variant and Standard Variant Mechs customizable in the areas of exterior cosmetic changes, loadout changes and/or cockpit customizations?
A: The Camo Spec, Loadout and cockpit customizations can all be user-selected and changed for the Phoenix BattleMechs and their Standard Variants.

I don't think Jungle Rhino meant it as "bugs should never happen", but rather as "core parts of the system should already be bug-free when you let customers see your product".
