That is their fault, a pre-order package should be a limited one off. This still feels like a quick fix as they know the game is stagnating quickly.

Same here. By the time that is out this game will be forgotten by me.

Buh bye McDuck, don't let my AC20 hit you in the *** on your way out...

A new "founder" thingy? (With much more than the legendary founder pack did offer, while being cheaper)
Gosh would i feel stupid if i had payed 120 for a founder pack.

Paying 80$ like four months in advance to get the battlemaster three whole months early?
Honestly, this sounds like they are in desperate need of money. They need fast cash and they need it now.

That's like saying you pay $100 at a fine restaurant and all you got was a wetnap... Did you even read the package details?

Seriously, nobody's complaining about Founders being screwed here?

Or have I just not looked hard enough. (read; at all)

You don't have to look very hard to find (some) founders complaining like adolescent children about this. And allow me to point out right now that many founders are supportive of this sale. They are happy to be a part of something very special and are happy that others can be as well.
You are not getting screwed. Nobody is taking back what you have already purchased. Nobody is forcing you to purchase the Phoenix package. Stop acting like an elitist and either play the game or don't.
Question... what makes you so special? That you've spent money on this game? That you did it before anyone else? IMO, anybody that has purchased a single red MC in this game is special, and has supported it's development. For that matter, anybody who has created and account and plays is doing the same. If you think you can run up to a car dealer with tears in your eyes telling them that they've done you wrong by selling somebody a better car for less money than you paid last year, than you have some life lessons to learn...

it made me giggle because I've found myself staring at code for like 5min thinking "But it should be working" more times than I care to admit, usually pre-rubber ducking.

I hear you brother, I've had more than a fair share of those "now it should work...except it doesn't..." moments myself.

You can disagree if you want. But it doesnt change the fact that matchmaking will put a Commando and Atlas on different teams without caring about the tonnage difference. As far as matchmaking is concerned they are equal.

Except... That's not true at all.

The MatchMaker matches ELO + Weight CLASS... if it can't find enough players to keep queue time down to 2 minutes (I think it's 2 minutes, might be a bit less).. it starts to expand it's search criteria.

Most matches I drop in lately, have been fairly well balanced tonnage wise.

ooh Thunderbolt. It's still not a Summoner, but I think I can make it work until the real thing is announced.

For the people that are saying that the Project Phoenix is "Founder Program MkII", you're completely off-base.

Non-Founders will never get the JR7-D(f), HBK-4G(f), CPLT-C1(f), or AS7-D(f). They will never have these "Founder's badges" (or decals if they ever give us decals). If they never bought the Legendary pack, they also will never have their names in the credits.

How does a new Project Phoenix package diminish this? It doesn't.

I can say however, that if you don't get a Project Phoenix package, you will never get the Phoenix versions of these 'mechs and you will never have the forum badges. If any of those things are things that matter for you (I want the 'mechs, could care less about the badge, YMMV), then buy the package. If they don't matter to you, then don't buy them. If you're fine about waiting for the standard variants of these 'mechs, then wait.

And if/when they do this exact same thing for Clan 'Mechs, your Founders and Phoenix 'Mechs will also not suddenly change in value, just as they haven't changed now.

As an amendum to you, founders and hero mech purchasers have one small problem that PGI can and probably will easily fix when we ask them.

Founder mechs don't have a loyalty bonus or a 30% C bill bonus like Phoenix mechs and Hero mechs don't have a loyalty bonus.

I have a question PGI. So I love the idea, but will you be able to sell the phoenix mechs, or will they be unsellable like the founder? Not saying I`m goin to sell them, but I`m just wondering.

So .. I'm not a founder, reasonably new to this game (but not new to mechs - quite old school in fact), and I can't find the answer to pretty much the most important question as someone who *has* purchased the pheonix pack recently (reminded me of crescent hawks inception for the ole schoolers), and that is - when do we get our mechs?

We get our mechs Oct 15th. I also wan to relive my Crescent Hawk´s Inception / Revenge days qith these mechs :) . I am very supportive of this game and bought the overlord package. I was too late for founders but I can definitely consider shelling out $80 for a game I play at least 4-5 hours per week. It might be unbalanced it might be buggy but most important of all it is fun. I have played with LRMs, PPCs, ACs, SRMS, Lasers and all need different playing styles. Building a mech variant then playing it and finding out it sucks major time sends me back to the tabletop or MechWarrior 2 days of experimenting until you find the right build. Of course the game can be improved and the developers should fix things but I think they have performed well. I can´t wait to fight against clan mechs and finding out my Inner Sphere death machine outmatched by a lighter clan mech. But do fix machine guns so that my locust can do a bit of damage with the 2 it packs........

So then 4 "hero" mechs and 3 months premium time isn't worth $40?

Also.. you can't compare something you bought a year ago to something that's available today.

4 hero mechs, 8 non hero mechs, 3600MC worth of mech bays..
The hero mechs alone would regularly sell for ~$20+ each.
Mechbays are worth about $20 total
Premium time would cost you about 10,000MC which equates to $40-50 depending on how you would purchase it..

Assuming you actually like the game and believe PGI will deliver a well rounded game experience eventually.. how is that not worth $80?

I think the value is there, however the question is not "is this worth $80", it's "do I believe in PGI enough to shovel them more money". For me at least, that is a difficult question to answer.

You have to remember that during the early days when people had this Founder premium time that there were tons of issues that prevented many from playing during the premium time and it was wasted. Also, if they didn't want to use MC to buy mechs and they had to spend time grinding the money to buy them. And they were forced to uis MC for the bays. There is no way to get Bays with Cbills. With the new packages you are given all the mechs needed to master plus bays. We can agree to disagree but I feel that the extra MC they gave with the founders and the Prem time were eaten up during the time the game was not working as well. I think the 80$ for the current package is a decent deal assuming they will actually add some content and not some more money making cammo or cockpit items. They need to have the system/planet maps up and running so clans and factions can group and hold systems like they do in World of tanks and other games like that. Also, you need to balance the mechs you got and the systems they got like ECM, and mechs that are just jumping Gaus and PPC boats that don't make sense to a fun game. Match making is flawed and role warefare is not really in place. This needs to be fixed before more mechs that are also out of balance are added. I just see the focus in the wrong area. I see myself potentially buying a new mech but they could have made a lot more buy selling them as hero mechs with a bonus of premium time added. Best way for them to bring people to the game is to have a clan and faction community that draws their friends to the game and not these deals that after a few weeks people find out there are only a few maps and two game modes and no reall clan system in the game. GLHF and see you in game

I admit i was wrong, did not see this coming at all and i look forward to the griping on the redesigns. =)

Now the battlemaster does make sense as i heard that it will be in the new BT boxed set. (could be wrong)

I am still right about the Macross mechs tho... Those are still pariah

Are you damaged somehow, how is this a kick in the teeth. We paid our due and we got our rewards. Nobody is taking away your founders title nor your mechs. But the thing is, many people missed the founders programme and one of the most requested things over the years is a similar programme. So how is this taking anything away from your founders pack?

You are getting more than the founder got that paid 120. The MC and Premium time were eaten up by bad patches and buying mech bays for the other mechs founder didn't get that are needed to master a mech. Just my thoughts.

Something I didn't have time to add (I was at work when I wrote that): The Loyalty Point Faction Medallions that come with the Project Phoenix packages are using the same graphics as the hanging faction medallions currently able to be purchased in-game. Could they be one and the same, with Loyalty Point Boosts attached to them whenever the CW system goes into place? If they are, that means anyone can buy LP Boosts for as many and whichever 'mechs as they want, at any time.

ya... pgi got me, got me good. $60.00 dollars down.

I tried waiting, TRIED... but the more I looked at that sexy Locus... which I don't / won't play.... I just sat there and stared at that mech / offer between working projects and playing rounds... I think it took maybe four hours before I caved hard.

second day in and the shadow hawk is announced. my god that is an awesome mech. 55 tons and hard points spread around so you can shift your primary weapon system between energy, missiles or ballistics... amaze balls.

third day... ya that Thunder Bolt, kinda still amaze balls. think that thing is going to be as wide as an awesome... so everyone will have fun shooting it.

fourth day... ya PGI might get the extra 20.

and like the locus that is a class of mech i don't enjoy playing...

great job.

I ask myself, does the Locust look like a Firefly on purpose? Don´t get me wrong, I like the chassis, but since it is a Locust, i really miss this unique lasermount below its cockpit.

I don't get all the complaints about this game. Yes we have had some balance issues, but to be fair we all knew it wasn't a finished product. I have put more hours into this game than any other I have owened. I really enjoy it anyway, and I am pretty excited about new mechs and the upcoming CW features. Have fun guys.

You know I'm a Founder and I don't understand why everyone is "Hey you're being screwed you should be angry!"

I mean I got everything I wanted out of the game. While I am upset about the current meta and balancing that isn't a deal breaker for me because in time it will change. I am concerned if anything over the use of Founders funds. We gave them $5 million and so far I don't think we've gotten good use out of that. However that is based off the information we know. The problem is PGI could be much farther along then we realize in terms of the game and they are just not telling us. Which makes us act on false information.

But looking at the Project Phoenix deal you can't help but realize it's a fantastic buy economically. I've taken to thinking over the last few days since the announcement and the only question I'm asking myself is "do I trust PGI with my money?" I've already spent $250+ on this game. However PGI has put the initial free 30 days of premium time to last a month. So it gives you plenty of time to think. If you can't decide right away give it some time to see if the changes they make in July (Movement fixes, Phase 1 of CW [assumed], heat system changes) change the game for the better.

No.

Give me a game worth playing before I buy more stuff to play with in the aforementioned game.

Objectively it does look like a good deal but the fact the game has so many problems, in it's current state, roundly trumps any added value that could be derived from the deal.
