What?! Really? No.

Mechs do not need to be holding guns and that bubble canopy... how do you even remotely balance that kind of thing without a redesign. The new art is far superior to the old stuff from every perspective but that of nostalgia.

your in no position to say that. thanks for your personal opinion though.

I would gladly pay 20-40 bucks if I could get one-two of each mech for that price. I would ditch the premium time and all other bonuses (except the "free" mechbays obviously) in a heartbeat if this were possible, but alas. 80 dollars is quite a salty price even for an employed person. Would love to get all of the mechs cheaper, as I don't care about the other swag in the package.

Any chance you could make it possible PGI? I would build a totem for you and dance around it naked and send you pics. Well okay actually, I won't send you pics and save your retinas from meltdown if you make this happen.

The Battlemaster replaces the Awesome in the one advantage the Awesome had over the Stalker, that being a speedy harasser. The Battlemaster is going to do that and more.

I'm pretty sure they're aware of what the original artwork looked like, you know.... all full of copyright infringement with Harmony gold, or did you guys not bother to read up on that?

They look different to keep the vultures of Harmony Gold off of them most likely. or would you like this game shut down?

*waiving a hand in the air* -These are not the Harmony Gold mechs you are looking for.

You do know that this package is all about nostalgia right? Its mainly aimed towards old BT players who love the old original unseen mechs.

I like the look of the BM, but I'm not filtering my view with nostalgia.

The FAQ didn't answer the most important question.

How many Guass & PPC can you fit on each 'mech? Can you fit a PPC on a Locust?

:D

I don't know about the non-Phoenix models, but since the LCT-1V only shows a single energy hardpoint on the center torso, a PPC is a 3 slot weapon, and CT's usually only have 2 slots left open after installing the engine & gyro, I'm guessing no for that model.

This. ^^^

Seriously, a lot of the old art is like something a little kid drew. The guy who did the battle scene used for the forum backdrop is a much better artist than any of the old pen & ink sketches I've seen, and there's a depth to it that even the Harmony Gold stuff lacked.

Same goes for an 80 ton walking tank that has to hold a handgun with fingers. MWO is a sim. Remember all those gripes about 3rd person? You know, because this is a sim, and 3rd person takes away from that... from the realism? I'm sorry, but no real weapons platform designer is going to say "Hmmm, incredibly fragile and complex fingers would probably be the best possible way to mount a main gun."

After all, can those little fingers conceivably be as well armored as the rest of the arm? It would be a shame to have this big hunk of war machine suddenly neutered because one guy was good enough with a LL to hold it on the hand for a couple of seconds.

Oh, so we are talking realism now? Then there would not be any mechs to begin with and we would be crewing tanks instead.

Regarding the old unseen mechs the whole point to them is that they should look like they used to originally that people can recognize and feel the nostalgia. Thats the sale pitch here.. mechs we havent been able to play with for a long time. If we just wanted a 85 ton mech with x number of hardpoints they could take any look but it would not be a Battlemaster.

I think this is a great deal for a new player. Being one, I do not have a hero mech yet, but this promotion seems just Fantastic! with all the extra's from mechs to the Faction Medallion. I love the 30% c-bill boost!

One question though? What does the "Limited Edition Geometry" mean? its in the box on the left hand side as a tool tip for the Phoenix Battlemechs box, under the Limited Edition Camo. I do not understand what this means? anyone know? and thanks in advance.

Simple - people who have at least the basic command of written language (i.e. know the difference between "your" and "you're") are in the position to state their opinions, while people whose language skills can only be described as "epic fail" are not.

You've mistaken a conversation about realism for a conversation about a patently bad design aesthetic that's 2 decades old vs. what we've been given that at first glance doesn't make folks want to laugh uncontrollably.

Did I love the old mechs from TT, yeah, kinda...rather I liked using them in combat.
Did I like every design back then until now, Hell No.
Stop holding the past up as if it was perfect. You're starting to sound like you were born with rose colored irises.

Since several of you guys totally missed the point here ill state it again:

Looks really cool. I'd really like to buy in. Can't. Won't. At least not until I go better then 4 games without crashing.I guess it's nice that PGI is adding content if you are on a stable set up. But it's just salt in the wound if it's not.

I think your foolish and have no idea about how the game works if you want the mechs to look exactly like there old drawings.
Why the **** would u want a battlemaster as its pictured when everyone in game could hs you unzoomed from 13 planets away.
Would kinda ruin the whole nostalgia thing if you never got out of the drop zone before being killed.

As its new art suggest alot of the old im quite happy with its new look and the hardpoints and speed are crazy good, Sad that my awesomes are being superceded by victors and battlemasters but thats technology for you.

limited edition geometry means the mechs will be slightly differently shaped then the non phoenix versions, a la the founders cat having a rounded nose versus the standard cat nose thats flat.

Because i do know how the game works and the head hitlocation is not always the entire head of the mech as proven on the Atlas for instance so it should not be a problem to have the original head on the Battlemaster.
