No, I just don't really like having to repeat myself when my e-mail is being used for more important matters than MWO.
As a rebuttal to "people being defensive today" "Do people read today?"

I wasn't being hostile, I was making my point that you didn't read my post and made a pointless reply. Believe me, if I was being hostile I'd bring out the curse train but I'm more civil than that.

Note to you....you can turn off emails from MWO so don't blame ppl for your mistakes/ineptitude/<insert adjective here>.

I know that very well, but using that as an excuse for the simple fact your reply had nothing to do with my OP. I want notifications from MWO, I just don't want pointless ones. Plus, I wasn't being defensive, you merely took it as such, I was asking if you actually took the time to read my post, you obviously didn't. Instead of getting a nice reply on something relating to what I said, I get you talking about a purchase (which I haven't done and may or may not)

I wanted discussion on the mechs, not whether I should play the game or not hah.

No offense taken, In hindsight people may think I was, if so I apologize, that was most assuredly not my intent. I just don't enjoy it when people take the time to reply to me on something that has nothing to do with what I said. If I seemed hostile, I'm quite sorry.

I think they all look good, I'm just afraid of their in-game scaling.

Eh, so was the guy he was responding to.

I think a lot of us need to "take this a bit less seriously" and read everything in Morgan Freeman's voice or something so we don't imply ANGRY WORDS GRRR to every post :D

The Battlemaster's loadout is almost exactly what I run in TT. Can't wait to try it out.

All is forgiven then.

Back on topic of things: Im hemming and hawing over if I should try to get the guardian pack around september or wait for the next pack that makes me all starry eyed. (or hero mech, i'd fore go all the phoenix mechs for a single heroic Orion) and we all know the clans will have a pack like this as well but whatever I end up buying would likely become my mainstay mech from then on out.

Still the Tbolt is mighty damn tempting, I just worry about what its in game model will look like.

Hmmmmm Samantha Fox, gods the memories that brings up...

Oh, and personally I like the BM reminds of the one from the PP Book. Though as mentioned, I would prefer the PPC over-slung rather then under so that I don't end up hit hillside quite so often.

Love the designs myself, especially since they are not to scale. Still slightly worried the T-bolt will have wide torsos ala AWS but we'll see.

Only thing I'm not really too excited about is the Locust. As someone else said, trying to keep that large energy hardpoint underslung on the bird-like frame and arm "wings" make it iconical in looks and as such my preferred style. It would also distinguish it from the Jenner, which the current design skirts close to.

Only problems with those two designs are that they're just not Marauders or Warhammers. They're also fugly as all hell.

Agreed, I would personally love the Shimmering Sword editions of the Macross-Unseen.

Be that as it may, depending on feedback, i can always try to adjust and tweak things a bit for the orthos.

As some have mentioned an overslung weapon for the battlemaster would be a nice touch or at least a 'different' touch. A hand-held weapon of sorts would definitely be neat (especially if the hero atlas gets an arm mounted AC -- or especially a right torso chest-mounted missile launcher like the original concept art).

But since you're here I wanted to personally say I love the redux on the Thunderbolt's hands. Those claws look like they will be very fun to play with in animation.

Also if you ever design an axe for the Yen Lo Wang for fun, please send an image of the concept to me! :D

The battlemaster PPC mounting hand held dealy always seems weird but interesting to me. I was always interested in the way that the weapon was implied to be detachable or as some people house ruled it, swappable from hand to hand. At any rate, though its not visible in the art now, i do intend to make the energy mount for the PPC look like it has quick release mounting brackets on it, even if they don't really do anything.

I think it should come with a big holster and, every time the Battlemaster drew it, it would spin it around its finger and yell "PEW! PEW! PEW!"

That....would be awesome.

Well, time to sum it up :D

Locust - She's good. Looks good, and hardpoints aren't too bad. There isn't much you can do with a 20-ton mech after all, and Locust's true value is in its lore importance. She's composed a bit too much like a Jenner, but that's not really a bad thing.
Verdict: 8/10; ER LL and a quartet of MGs gonna make a nice company for reliving all those Lori Kalmar moments, and that's the real deal :D

Shadow Hawk - Well, she's the legendary SH. As such, she kinda strays a bit too far away from her Dougram appearance, and the fact of non-movable shoulder-cannon is a bit sad, but maybe that will arrive some day too. Nevertheless, she has excellent hardpoints, taking the best from so many worlds, improving upon Hunchie-4G 3xAC2 plinker, Yen Lo 1xERLL + 2xAC2 poker and SRM-lover Treb builds, plus carrying 5 more tons and JJs, she's gonna be a very fun all-round medium, whether you wish to play her as a jump-striker or direct fire support. Very much looking forward to playing her.
Verdict: 9/10; If only she looked more like what she was supposed to look like....

Thunderbolt - Well, damn. Say what you will about the unfortunately placed LRM launcher that's considered a side-torso, but I'm willing to forgive it for the fact of it being the 'Bolt's iconic feature. It's been more than 17 years since this thing was handing our behinds to us as the last boss of Battletech game of Sega Genesis (aka MW3050 on SNES), despite the fact that we've been at a con of a Mad Cat then, and she's back with a Vengeance. She looks the meanest of the bunch, and she has hardpoints to die for. On top of that, she also looks like a 65-tonner that's not meant to hang back (unlike her Cat and Jager sisters), and that's exactly what she is.
Verdict: 10/10 with a smile; Didn't think I'd see a hero mech that would promise more fun than Ilya right off the bat, and regardless, she's awesome. <3

Battlemaster - Well, here comes the problem child. She looks good (despite lacking the round and long Xenomorph head cockpit), but what seriusly impairs her is the state of her hardpoints. This is brought about by the fact that to simply accommodate her default TT layout, this thing must carry 10 hardpoints, with no room for variation, and this results in even more unfortuante coincidences. A mech comaprable to the 'Master-1G would be Misery, which carries a similar pack of hardpoints while being of the same weight, and even though Misery has far less of them, she's not plagued by them as much as this mech. Both suffer from a nearly useless lone 6-tube missile launcher, but Misery carries it where every Stalker has them, while 1G has her prominently mounted on her shouler, likely making your side-torso a lot more vulnerable. Hopefully it will disappear if your leave the hardpoint empty. Next, Misery's sole ballistic slot is sitting in her side-torso, making it possible for her to carry even an AC20, while both of 1G's ballistics are in her hand, which also has palm actuators. This means no AC20 and no 2xUAC5, and what else do you put on an 85-ton assault, assuming you're willing to brawl? And then, of course, there are the 7 energy hardpoints, 6 of which are in the torsos. Now the $64000 question is, what do you stuff into 7 energy hardpoints of an 85-ton slow behemoth without risking shutdowns after every shot, especially considering that your torso twist speed and angles ain't those of a Hunchback?
Of course, high-alpha-lovers are gonna be more than happy to pack their Misery and Highlander Gauss/ERPPC builds into this machine, but I prefer to take my cheese with wine and outside of MWO, which is why this is sadly not gonna be my favorite 'Master variant.
Verdict: 7/10; Yes, this is the legendary 'Master, and yes, all of ths is not PGI's fault, but the BLR-1G now stands for "IMMA FIRING MAH LAZORZ - BLAAAARGH!1!!" Did I mention how much I hate energy-heavy assaults?

Epilogue: Of course I'm buying Overlord. This isn't just about this package, although it has more than enough value for its price for me, but more importantly, this is about trusing PGI, and despite all the flak they're taking for all sins of the world, being a part of MWO strongly feels like going hand-in-hand with a small developer to create something big, important and beautiful. As such, I'm not gonna regret the $80 I spend, because I don't think the same 80$ would amount to similar level of enjoyment if there was no MWO at all.

P.S. Yet MW5 trailer still makes me sad every time. Barring the better performance of U-engine and absence of interface bugs, GOD, DO I DREAM ABOUT THOSE PPC BEAMS. GOD, DO I DREAM... ;)

I'll admit that I have no real interest in the locust, but the other three mechs really look stunning. The Thunderbolt and Shadowhawk mechs has always been faves of mine. You guys haven't disappointed. As for the Battlemaster, I really love the sculpt. It looks plain mean. Hanse Davion drove this bad boy for a reason.

Now if you could just look into designing either the Wolfhound, Hatchetman or Zues, I'd gladly shell out more cash .........

The value is great, but none of the mechs appeal to me personally. If you had included something more interesting, say the Warhammer or the Marauder, then I could see myself picking up my wallet.

Edit: Or even better; an Awesome without a CT the size of a blimp.
