Honestly, you NGNG guys appear to be the only players with whom PGI actually interacts, anymore. Perhaps you should light a fire under their *****, because current weapon balance is trash. Stop throwing them softballs.

No doubt. I realize the NGNG guys get access for being the PGi mouthpiece, but please do your listeners a couple favors in the process. Also, pls stop doing the following:

1) main guy asks a question.
2) 2nd guy rephrases it, but basically repeats the question.
3) PGI staffer answers
4) Main guy or second guy rephrases and asks the question again, while also agreeing with the answer.

Off topic I know, but it's really irritating.

Now, hopefully PPCs see a small uptick in heat soon to play into the new heat penalty mechanic.

Movement changes will just punish PUG teams even further since 99% of them can't position correctly in the first place.

The whiners on this board are a complete paradox:

"Why didn't we get the new feature you promised?"

...Then

"Why did rush in this new feature that is bug filled?"

Except your obsolete RS was on sale at 50% off. They move old product before selling the upgrades. I got a little tweaked when I converted a bunch of XP to GXP less than 12 hours before a double-XP conversion sale. My tough luck (no refunds) and I learned never to purchase anything prior to a weekend. Not quite the same as your situation, but your RS is not the same as the Champion RS.

Yeah, that's the idea. The Champion is better. I'd be more than happy to pay the difference for the RS(c).

Also there is no old product to move. There's no such thing as old stock. It's all digital! That's what makes this so insidious if it's purposeful. If it was accidental, then it's merely negligent of the customers, us.

Not quite. It's actually a .357 :)
The .38 is also actually .357 (the .38 designation is actually the diameter of the brass case, not the cartridge!)

change isn't that noticible actually.

now that they have movement restrictions. i wish they would get rid of the slip. you'd think mechs would have better traction on solid ground than a figureskater on ice or osmething

It's not accidental. Look at what they did with the Heavy Metal, and now this new Hero Mech. "Let's release the hero-mech 2 weeks before the actual mech so we can get all the rabid fanboi's to buy it before they try it!".

Too bad it is nothing like that.

We expected exactly what we knew was coming: Disappointment.

Glorious metric system master race! Not that this would have anything to do with the current thread. :)

Garth got Binary system mixed up with Metric decimal system hence from now on patch day will all ways be known as the 7th, and chocolate will be issued as scaled consumable known as Cocoa9 Cocoa 18 and cocoa 9/18, it won't make you a better pilot, but you just won't care if your blitzed in the first 3 minutes

Of course if you were making money from this as a business you wouldn't do this ?

If your answer is no I wouldn't, I have some chocolate suppositories I'd like you to invest in, they have a life time garantee

How many of those who waited for the sale to purchase an RS would be willing to spend double (or more) the MC for the Champion?

Now that I'm patched, I can't find the Champion Atlas anywhere. Am I special or are others having this issue?

ppc is not the problem. the whole heat system is f'ed, with there being no incentive to maintain damage over time rather than to dump as much as possible as quickly as possible. the heat changes mentioned in the command chair have been kind of encouraging, if a seriously-convoluted solution to simply changing the heat scale across the broad (to quote paul 'it would be a nerf to everything!!!!11one' .. you're a designer, paul, surely you understand that change to output across the board can't be a 'nerf' since that is a term of relative comparison, but whatever..)

anyway, the usual suspects will continue to scream 'NEERRRRFFF X' or 'Y' or whatever the flavour of the month is like the drooling, gibbering idiots that they most certainly are, but the core problems (for now anyway) remain unaddressed, and the best paul can offer are convoluted systems resting on top of other systems which rest on top of yet more systems to try and encourage a particular playing style.

Some things that will change the meta considerably:

Lobby. When you're selecting mechs as a group, even for a pug match, understanding what the other people are bringing relative to your own needs/wishes.

Team Drop Tonnage Restrictions. A single 4-ppc mech isn't as much of an issue as a) having every single assault mech dropped fit that profile or :) having 3-4 assault mechs in the game fitting that profile. When you're significantly capped on how much weight your team can bring, ungodly PPC spam becomes less of an issue.

aside from tonnage, some kind of a battle value system would throw a wrench in the tech minmax, though even tabletop struggled with this one so it would probably be a titanic undertaking for the PGI team in its present form.

A more complex heat system rebalance, pilot impairment at upper heat levels (equivalent to flight sim black/redout), lowered heat scale overall, increased dissipation..stuff that has already been discussed..

anyway, yeah.. if they really want to implement this silly 'penalty heat on firing multiple weapons' concept and then manually tweak output rules on every single mech variant to create incentive to running stock, thats fine i guess..thats whatever. i can't understand why a very cumbersome system needs to go in place because, again quoting paul, 'changing heat scale is a nerf to everything! OMG!!'.. surely, paul, we're not that naive.

Wow guys. The first patch is always a bit less then the second one. I love the new sounds, the Dragon slayer is already bought and the hill climbing / Heat nerf is awesome!

Im looking forward to the second patch, keep it up guys!

Hey,

Looks good!

Some interesting changes. No doubt they will need further tweaking but it's great to see a big change like movement make it into the game. Thumbs up :)

Heat changes:

Mmmm not quite how I would have done it. Penalties starting at 120% but finishing at 100% is too counter intuitive.

If you are a forum goer and spreadsheet warrior you will quickly assimilate, but introducing such an arbitrary rule will confuse new and casual players.

Also it it not clear how these penalties work in conjunction with existing penalties (when you over ride). Do they stack, is it either or, or does this new mechanic wholly replace the existing mechanic?

In any case I look forward to testing it all out.

I would say though that a lot of the negativity you get is due to the time it takes you to balance and change stuff.

People know that if these new features do not work well, and even if you acknowledge the fact, it will be months before you make corrections.

This means people know if the feature is not perfect first time they will be stuck with it for months. If you upped the pace a bit then people would not be so scared of you introducing new features.

For example with this heat system; if they knew any required tweaks would happen in one to two patches they would be a lot more open to just try it out and have a positive attitude about it.

However we all know even if it is a disaster you will not make corrections for months. Not figurative, exaggerated for effect "months" but actual real life multiple calendar months.

This creates a fear of new features and a negative attitude.

Up the pace and up the communication.

Oh, and while your at it:

Tweak JJ shake (they make me physically ill)
Increase SRM damage by 0.2
Tweak seismic sensors

While I am in wall of text mode - looking forward to CW and UI 2 - those babies are going to be sweet!

Exactly, it's a sensible way to do hero mechs, and should be the way all heroes are done (other than those of chassis' that already exist, like when the X5, Wang, etc.. came out for example.

Patch notes seem fine to me, I wanted the Rainbow-Jenner personally more than a Victor because Unicorns, but hey, whatever.
The mechanics changes are all good, nothing to *****, moan, cry and wail about in the patch, but people still gonna *****, moan cry & wail and get all sorts of internet-angry..

I'm also fine with Hero -> Standard Variants.

I'm not fine with Sale on Standard Variant -> Standard Variant (c) one week later.
