This sale is not a scam. It's early access to an upcoming mech. It says as much in the text. There is nothing about this sale that screams "scam". It tells you exactly what it offers, and tells you the alternative (wait and buy with c-bills). There is absolutely no gameplay inbalance that is introduced by this "sale". The only ones that I can imagine that would be offended by this sale are those that are made easily jealous by seeing other players pilot mechs they cannot pilot without paying.

If you disagree, then that's certainly your choice. But no one is forcing anyone to open their wallets.

EDIT: If your gripe is about paying for access during beta cycles, then yes. I can think of a few games like that: http://store.steampo.../Early%20Access

If it were an actual subscription based thing, I might agree. As it stands you are getting exactly what it is you paid for(x days of premium time and the bonus that entails).

1. Week 1 release hero mech variant.
2. Week 2 release standard variants for MC.
3. Week 3 release standard variants for C-Bills.

PGi sure is getting more and more aggressive with MC purchase items. Personally I find that a bit worrying for the game's future.

Sure, but PGI has stated that there will be some benefit to having Premium for CW. Why not also extend early access to paying members? We are paying for the game; that could be rewarded further than it is. XP and C-bill boosts are nice, yeah. Would be nice to include people who want the game to succeed financially in a greater range of benefits. Perhaps other limitations could apply. E.g., must have purchased 30 days, etc.

They're looking for a marketing formula that keeps the game fair while ensuring their business model remains profitable. So long as it's not mandatory and doesn't skew gameplay balance, I have no problem with it. Those servers aren't going to pay for themselves.

It's just that pay contents has increased a lot in a short time recently, first the Phoenix package, then a week after yet another Hero mech before CBill variants, and now even CBill variants released earlier for MC only. It just reminds me too much of how most companies usually try to sell as much as they can before closing shop.

Bet many will not spend money on this because they are literally begging for new info about upcoming features.
I haven't bought phoenix yet for the same reason.

I like norhymes idea about including it for members with a certain amount of money spent monthly though.

Meanwhile it's starting to look like Askthedevs42 is the new creative director update..

By "scam" do you mean they are going to remove the Victors you buy from your MechLab secretly in the night? Are these MC-only Victors actually junkers with faulty hip actuators and cracked internal frames?



I honestly do not understand why anyone with a conscience would call this Pay-to-Win. Let's take a vote: Who here thinks that running some standard Victors a week before other people have those standard Victors is going to make your overall MechWarrior: Online W/L Ratio unfairly rise? Is this Sale going to make people experience a genuine, significant, and unfair boost to their overall W/L ratio?
