The only thing you can buy in MWO, that you NEED money for are Mech bays and the 30% cbill bonus (and cosmetic stuff). None of those gives you an edge in the actual game.
Pay to Play content is otherwise known as P2W or at the very least borderline. make the hero mechs expensive C-Bill wise and make it so you can "Hero" any mech you want. the C-Bill hero versions do not come with the 30% boost.

For instance... if I use my Founder's Mechs and Hero Mechs exclusively and only play 5 (average 200-500pt dmg each) games a night versus the Free player who plays 10-15 games a night (same averages as my 5)... there's no difference. Hell, the free player may even be making more Cbills than myself... Add premium time to my account, and it's still roughly the same (w/exception of XP bonus)... Who cares if 'Mechs are released earlier for MCs... if someone wants it that bad, they will pay for it versus waiting.
MCs only allow purchasing of: 'Mechs, Consumables (slight advantage over Cbill version), Mechbays, Cosmetic items, and Premium Time... Where's the advantage in that?
Patience is a virtue...
Edit: Why is it everytime PGI does something "MC" related... it's a cash-grab or all of a sudden MWO is P2W? Give the Devs a break and just play the game and take your Dev-related aggressions out on the field of battle

F2P/non-P2W Definition: Everything in the game can be bought with in game cash. things can be sold for real money but will only decrease the grind necessary to obtain said item. items can be sold for real world cash and only real world cash if it does not give any in game boost AKA: cosmetics.(the hero mechs fall out of this as they give a niche that non-paying players cannot obtain "see misery only stalker with a B slot")

I actually had to look it up too. It doesn't actually start with two eyes crying. Apparently it comes from Warcraft II. To rage quit a multiplayer game people would do ALT+Q+Q. Thus "QQ". It has evolved into "crying eyes".

No that's not the name of a new breakfast meal, though it is good news! It means the Victor VTR-9K, VTR-9B, VTR-9S are available now for purchase!
NOTE: Until the 16th of July, these regular Victor variants are in the Hero Chassis list in Mechlab
That's right, starting today at 10am PST (after the servers come back up) you can buy the standard variants of the Victor for , with available beginning next week on the 16th. Since this is being released early, what does that mean?
You CAN:
- Buy cockpit items for them
- Level them with XP/GXP
- Buy/equip modules
- Customize the colours
- Name them
- Give them a good home
- Change from the default pattern (yet)
So if you've been waiting on those standard Victors, here's your moment of Victory! Eh? Eh?
See you on the battlefield,
The MechWarrior Online Team
Money gabbing at its best.

They've made it pretty clear they don't give a rats behind about the core fans and are just moving for a "revolving door" type model

Why do you keep repeating this? Some could argue because you and I are Founders, we have P2W advantage over others... this is not true. Your argument is pointless given your status as a Founder in the MWO Community.

There's and old saying that predates the F2P concept - "Nothing is ever free." I would suggest this applies to F2P games too. F2P is not an a promise or an offer, it is an option.

LOL, you do realize that EVERYTHING they put into this game is about making money, right? The whole IP exists for the purpose of making money. The only thing for the fans is the developers own shared love and passion for the IP.

OH WAIT, I FORGOT. MOST PEOPLE JUST READ THE FIRST POST, GET MAD, AND COMPLAIN WITHOUT THOUGHT. Forgot that's how it works on a forum. Oops, thought that was just for trolls and flamers. Didnt know the average person did that around here.
Sometimes I wish the moderation on here was a little more fascist just for the sake of not allowing this to happen:
1. Piranha Games makes post.
2. People read/misread/dont read the fine print and get p***ed off.
3. People post angry things.
4. People with half a brain/intention to read everything in the post reply to said things, trying to make people realize it's not the damn apocolypse.
5. People dont read posts/replies.
6. See Step one. Rinse. Repeat.
7. Alternatively, if people do actually read those replies, they just spout more stuff defending the fact that Piranha Games is the new Galactic Empire and that they will stop at nothing until the Mechwarrior franchise is in peices! *advertises a game they like, tells people to play it instead*
8. See steps 4 and 7 repeat continuously until topic is locked or reaches capacity.
Didn't realize people were so predictable, now I know why people get into the investment business...

/sorry
/but it really is true

They should have added the VTR-9A, although they probably thought it would be abused with lots of gauss or PPC, but who cares we already have gauss and ppc blasting all the things. There was literally no reason to add the VTR-9S, when you can build the same exact thing from the VTR-9B.

- I was saving up the C-Bills for a full re-work of the 3 stock variants, so the "early-bird one week before, pay with MC option 'til a week later to buy with C-Bills" is open, for I was going to buy them with MC anyway =)
- I've been hoping since the early 90's to get a "real life simulation of a Victor to be used as a Command Assault Mech" as I did in BT Tabletop, so I hope the Command Console will be implemented before christmas. For this is The Assault mech for me; to hell with the 6xPPC variants, I'll show what outmaneuvering in a Assault Mech means.
I'm also glad that the 2xMG in the legs variant wasn't on the table, for the 3xAC20 shelling Victor would just ruin the heart of the machine that it has.
- Thank you PGI, and well played on the "pay to get the mech a week before, get for C-Bills after", for it's just perfect for us who are devoted fans of certain battlemechs, such as the Battlemaster and Vicky is for me. I would not hold it against anyone even if Mackie would make a come-back at some point in the future.
Thank you once more PGI for bringing one of my two most favorite Assault Battlemechs of all time. Now about that Eisenfaust/Ymir...

yes an option that should not include paying for anything if you dont want to you apparently dont know the difference between a F2P and P2W game read up.
and having the developers going for cash grabs makes the fans that love and have passion for the IP question if it is actually shared with the dev team or not.

Sorry this isn't a boring, repetitive, but still FREE IF YOU WANT, game like EVE then. Go play it if you wanna earn/lose everything and never pay a dime*.
*After a month or more of grinding. Like any good "True F2P" game where everything can be earned!
EDIT: Hope this looks like constructive, if sarcastic, feedback. That's what I was going for at least >.>

I just filed it under "Gambling" in the loss column and called it a day. Just like what I did with the original founder's pack on here.
The difference, though, is that I'm willing to give Chris Roberts a whole lot more money. They demonstrate, literally, every single day why they deserve more faith than some *cough* other projects. Constant communications, large degrees of transparency, solid and clear timeline commitments (though to be fair they haven't had much of a chance to miss any as of yet), tons of professional pre-release material... the list goes on.
The SC project is the poster child for how to operate a crowd-funded upcoming AAA online game. Seriously, they make other projects look like children playing with legos.
-- Edit --
And, just to point this out, they've raised over 14 million bucks since October and without releasing any kind of gameplay. Obviously, they're doing something right. Learn from this.
