I'd rather they pleasantly surprised us rather than make a statement they may only get bashed with later.

No, they should know what effects, if any, a hardware change will result in at our end.

It is a somewhat reasonable assumption that if 12v12 suddenly debuts this coming patch (although, August is a more realistic time to deploy it), that you will reasonably need more server power for it.

If not that, at the very minimum, there are nodes that connect to the MWO master server that needs some help... so anything to mitigate the bad hitreg detection would be good.

I cannot see this as a bad thing either way.

Given they don't have control over multiple variables once the info leaves the servers, do they?

Bases on what information? Way to create unreasonable expectations. There is no reason to ratchet up the rhetoric and emotion.

I was just about to buy 3 days of premium since it's on sale. Can I get those three hours of premium back since the servers will be down during the time I was planning to play?

Ummmmm why? It's been known we're going to have a patch tomorrow for some time, and a 3-hour patch is what was usual in the past. We just haven't had one that went the distance in some time.

The least PGI can do is suggest/link a good methadone clinic.

Could this coincide with the mention of 12v12 possibly being sooner then usual? Since it was mentioned on ngng podcast saying they can resolve the issues they found on the test server.

Really hoping this is the patch where hit detection gets fixed!

Put my Overlord money to good use and let me nail those light 'mechs with an AC/20!

Ya know, I pride myself in being able to hit light 'Mechs with my AC/20. I don't really see this as an issue.

On a more constructive note, I'd really like some 12v12 or something, some big feature to ogle.

And i hope, in the patchnotes there are three lines that say:

- Fixed Hitbox issue on Spider Mechs
- Fixed Hitbox issue on Centurion Mechs
- Fixed Hitdetection bug

Cent hit boxes aren't broken.
Quite possibly Spider hit boxes aren't broken once you factor out the hit detection bug.

Last we heard they had not yet isolated the hit detection bug, and cautioned it may take time to fix that one.

Then why do any QA at all if that's the case?

So you don't get something that won't work. Imagine if they did no QA and pushed out a patch that broke the game in a literal sense.

I was thinking they would improve latency I never have less then 320 ping, its a real handicap especially in a light mech, im normally about 345.

UI 2.0!

Not even close. Trust me B)

Still a long ways to go.

And yes, the hardware upgrade is from PGI upping what they have their servers run on from their server center in Toronto. Expect better hit detection and less lag.

(Last Edit)

Use your imagination as to why PGI would want to upgrade their hardware.
