Considering Avast has not pushed any new updates other then definitions (which wouldn't have even rolled out on automatic update until late today) since yesterday's patch and is not putting any MWO files in quarantine then no Avast is not the culprit. PGI changed something in the last update that creates an error on AMD CPU systems with Avast installed.

And like hell am I going to uninstall a proven AV software that has no conflicts what so ever with any other program I have and leave my system vulnerable this day and age just to play MWO. This is up to PGI with cooperation with Avast to find out what change has resulted in such a terminal appcrash.

it does work. they made a workaround for it here. just uninstall. dont like it either, but i like mwo more than i like avast. there are other free antivirus programs out there.

I paid for Avast so it's not an option.

Then I guess your waiting then huu. Like someone said. There are other free av programs. Not like you cant just reinstall avast later again.

I like how you assume that it is the free edition.

Thanks everyone for the info, we did a round of ensuring the game worked with all major anti-virus software a while ago we'll look to update all vendors to ensure none are flagging the game unnecessarily.

I too would like to confirm that an uninstall of Avast and a restart of my computer cleared things up. MWO is working fine now. Still needs to be fixed, loved my avast.

I've got an AMD Radeon 6700 Series HD as well as an AMD Hexacore. FX 6100. I'm having the same patching issue as everyone else. Mech Warrior Online is one of my favorite games ever and no other computer in my household can run it. I've had Avast! installed for about a year now and it is the best AV I have ever used. I read that uninstalling it fixes the issue, I must say I am extremely reluctant to uninstall it. I have over 200+ games installed on my computer that I actively play. I really don't want to make a foolish mistake resulting in my computer getting destroyed by a virus thus loosing all my games. Is there any other AV that is comparable to Avast!? Maybe it works better?

On top of that i would just like to say... if MWO even gets a hint of avast it ceases to exist... reinstalling Avast and MWO shut right the **** down...

Confirmed, the issue was Avast. Still, this is poor going, PGI - you're supposed to ensure things like this don't happen.

I fully expect a fix so I can continue using Avast at a later date.

This is not a solution, this compromises Avast and your system's performance greatly including when playing MWO. It is an option, not a solution. Please use the right terminology before encouraging your player base to compromise their systems.

I'm attempting this now, I will verify if it worked for me or not.

Edit: I didn't see the post above mine. No way in hell will I do that. Thanks anyway friend. Everyone have a good day, and I hope the devs resolve this soon. I love Mech Warrior Online.

Is there going to be an announcement from PGI or something when this is fixed so I can reinstall Avast...? IF it's fixed I mean.
