i run a 9B with a similar set up, and, it works well, but my best performing vic is my 9K with gauss, 2 LL, SRM6.

Just switched to this build. Before tonight I was a terrible Victor pilot. With this build went from receiving **** to giving ****.

Victor skillup was not at all enjoyable, to say the least, for me. After speed tweak, it's a totally different mech, but until you get there, too much pain.
Started with the 2ML AC20 2-3xSRM n build, but failed miserably, lack of range was unbearable for me.
I have a rather unimpressive, below average-ish record with the 9S, but anyways this is the one I kept.
match W L W/L K D K/D dmg total
VTR-9S 40 22 18 1.22 37 26 1.42 13,475
2LL, AC20, 1 (yes one) SRM 4, 2 JJ, XL350, maxish armor, Endo DHS.
2 LL is like 4 medlas, but better range and heat. SRM on Victor for me is a bit counter-intuitive, since I juggle with the arm reticle 99% of the time, and for the rare occasion when my torso bears on the enemy, 1 SRM4 is fine for peppering it.
VTR-9K, ermm Gauss+2PPC is like inviting disaster in terms of bugged HSR/hit register.
So I settled with Gauss + 3 LL, the 3rd LL is on separate weapon group, I staggered LL fire 2-1-2-1 to conform with the ***** heat penalty. XL 340 (had it from my CTF 3D)
Tried 2 LL Gauss and 2xLRM5 2t ammo, for psychological warfare, but didn't notice any effect of the LRM-s so I ditched them.
Few matches only, so stats are not representative.
match W L W/L K D K/D dmg total
17 8 9 0.89 17 8 2.13 5,681
And for the lulz: VTR-9B. Same 2LL AC20 1 SRM 4 build as the 9S, but the stats are ridiculously good, due to the incredibly lucky win+kill steal streak I had with this variant (one kill every three minutes on average in 76 minutes, 365 dmg/match, 190 dmg/kill ).
Sold it right after the basics, so these records would stand unto eternity, unblemished
Only a dozen +1 matches, so stats are totally not representative.
match W L W/L K D K/D dmg total time
VTR-9B 13 10 3 3.33 25 5 5.00 4,746 01:16:27.
I'm still not sold on the Victor, somehow I'm not able to do consistently good in it (it's prolly just me tbh), but sometimes it's a wrecking ball.

Played: 65
Wins: 37
Loss: 28
Ratio: 1.32
Kills: 114
Deaths: 27
K/D Ratio: 4.22 (Pugging)
K/D Ratio for others:
Dragon Slayer: 2.56
Victor S: 2.0
Victor K: 1.78
I play conquest. I think it favors the better pilots.

FIrst, I got the 9B, and eventually settled on AC20, 2LL, 3 SRM4, XL350. Not my best mech, but not my worst either W/L: 1.78, K/D: 1.46.
My second Victor was the 9K, and I almost gave up on the chassis altogether due to frustration (although I later figured out that most of my frustration was due to messing with custom config files). I use 1 GR, 3 ML, 2 SRM6A, XL350. I finally figured this beast out last night, running 4 out of my last 5 matches won, with 3-4 kills and 500+ damage in each win. Those matches salvaged my stats for the 9K, W/L: 1.45, K/D: 1.39.
I feel really sluggish in the Victor, even though mine are going 70+ KPH before Speed Tweak. Hopefully getting the Elite skills will let this mech really shine for me on the battlefield.

The only problem is heat - it can build up quite fast, so I have to constantly look on a heat-o-meter. But that's not a big problem so far.

1 Gauss
1 AC2
2 srm6
1 srm4
2 mpl
XL280 so I'm a bit slow unfortunatly, only engine I had waiting to afford a bigger.
Use it mainly for sniping and harrassing or holding a line forcing the other teams snipers to stay under cover while my team moves forward. If I need to close still alot of damage there with the srms and a gauss to the face.
I reckon if I had more speed it would be decent mech.
I am thinking of building this one
2 ac5, 2xsrm6 1xsrm4 2xMPL, 3 jumpjets and xl335 giving speed of 67 and full armour except some leg.

Your stats are pretty solid: Good average damage, a little over 1 kill per match, KDR over 1. Solid damage and more than 1 kill per match means you are generally carrying your weight in the fights. KDR over 1 is good despite what some elitists think (Everyone can't have a 5+ KDR in a PvP game, I think they forget kills and deaths basically even out globally, except suicides). And the win/loss rate over 1 is good, but with matchmaker weirdness and now 12v12, it's more difficult for 1 player to make a major impact.
( personal opinion semi-rant) And most important by far, to me at least, is that you have more deaths than losses. I don't know you, but that alone indicates to me that you aren't afraid to get into the thick of battle. The further below losses a player's deaths statistic is, the more I think they constantly hide in the back, run away to preserve stats, or do similar things to pad stats. The larger the separation the less I will ever trust the player, take his/her stats at face value, and the more mocking among friends on comms when we notice and decidedly target the player in game. Sure a player can lose to capping after destroying most of the enemy team, but not in a large percentage of games unless the player's team mobs around on conquest in slow mechs without ever splitting up.
And if you really want to know: "E-PEEN POWERS ACTIVATE! Hmm, I thought it was bigger than that...."

Not true. If you play both assault and conquest you'll survive and sometimes, as with base rushes, no-one would have fired a shot.
