I am not speaking for everyone nor do I presume to. I also can make my own decisions, as I have for years and have been quite successful at it. There is nothing wrong with asking what other people think of the state of this game. Therefore I have posted asking that very question. If you are truely enjoying the game in it's current state, that's fine, but this thread is not for you.

Your call man, just stop buying sh*t if you aren't happy but still want to play. Lots of us in that boat.

Sorry, dude. Apparently this thread isn't for you. It's only for people who agree with the OP. Go be positive somewhere else.

As for the towel, take this from the HHG2G and keep it!
From the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Quote
More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with."

True enough, but there have been many a post over the past year offering much better systems than the ones PGI decides to go with. The only difference being that they didn't think of it. I don't think anyone is advocating dice rolls, etc.
I think really for me, this 3rd person view has the possibility of being a deal breaker for me. In the current state of the game, I estimate ( you can look online to get varying data points ) that the player base is about 50% what it was in January of this year. When they add 3rd person, my guess is the community can't handle being split yet again. We won't be able to find games in a reasonable time. It will be like 8 mans are now where you can't guarantee a match unless you make TWO 8 mans and drop together.
Once this happens, it's not hard to imagine they will have to combine 1st person and 3rd person queues. This is the point where we are forced to use 3rd person to compete. Also, 3rd person for me breaks the immersion. It's the point where you are not actually "piloting" the mech but playing more of an arcade/console game.

My only gripe would be someone hugging a small hill, where the drone wouldn't be visible because of said hill, and the FOV increase would let the 3rd person player see on both sides of the hill. That'd give the unfair advantage of knowing someone is incoming while the other player has no clue you're there. Other than that, I'm pretty okay with how it's implemented. Being able to look at the damage models and paint schemes is also nice in itself.

Well, to be fair those ideas in the forums sound better because they're on paper, not in the wide world where people can search for loopholes to exploit. I've seen some of the feeds for 3rd person and some of my friends who were dead set against 3rd person looked at what the setup for it will be and are largely placated. It seems like 3PV won't really provide any advantage to a player, or at least it will provide as much disadvantage as advantage.

However, as it seems like , after a few posts, we're actually talking about Game balancing ideas and issues, I think it can stay for a few more posts as long as they are game balance related.
Cheers.

Diehard fan's will care what PGI does with the game-but as Diehard fan's, we should just keep playing and doing what we love: Fighting in giant robot's, blowing stuff up! Adapt and just have fun!
It looks like 3pv though will come with a set of disadvantages which will level the field. And probably their going to instill HardCore mode at some point-where it's ALL fpv.
Don't fret. Just wait. And give good feedback! Stay positive!

This game scratches my occasional "MUST KILL ROBOTS" itch, but it could do so much more.
