Then, at the risk of sounding obstinate, why did you part with the money if you felt it was a scam?

No offence or anything, honest question. :)

Isn't that how all scams work? That is, you don't feel it's a scam until you actually part with your money.

Otherwise, y'know, it's not really a successful scam, is it?

That said, I'm not spending the other $60 until I see substantial proof that the game is worth it. It's just that after studying all the currently available information about the game and development progress I think that spending even the $60 (although not really a noticeable hit to my budget) was a rushed decision.

Too bad you wont get the chance to test before you buy the pack. As stated 1,000,000 times before, the pack is for the diea hard fans of the series, every true fan will buy it (if they can afford). If you want to test the game before you buy it, then wait for their next promotion. Founders packages are for true fans.

What a load of ****. I am a die hard fan. I am a "true" fan and I can afford it. Im just not a stupid fan. Been burned by to many bad games to part with cash before I see the game. The founders packs are great deals and the founder mechs will make the gind alot easier, but since Im careful with money I get screwed. Its not that much to ask to see before you pay. Would you buy a car with out a test drive?? NOPE!!! WoT got it right on this one (they fail in other areas). MWO fails.

I love fanboys that will throw money at anything....
All I want is to actually feel the interface, the way the mechs move, how the customization has been set up... etc..... The end game content is a must as was pointed out clan battles in WOT are kind of single sided.... You have 12-14 clans that have been trying to camp for an extended time and no incentive to move on until someone comes through and cleans house. After it has been cleaned they will simply move back in.

I am not asking for open beta or closed beta, I am asking for a hands on preview. A one day stress test before I drop my money on any of the founders packages. Something that lets us actually feel where the devs are going with the game. The way it stands now it feels like they are trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes they can, aka going for a quick buck because they lack confidence in their own product.

PS I have done plenty of beta's and know what they are about. Open betas are a major stress test as well as a mass bug hunt with more players doing random stuff.

If Open beta comes after early access there is no point in doing one. It tells me right there the devs dont know what the hell they are doing and that the game will probably flop due to it.

At least I have planetside 2 to look forward to and WOT for now.

I think you are splitting hairs here with wanting to have a hands on preview as it is asking to play a beta release of the game. You may argue that a game preview is not the same as a BETA but they are not. The only point you may make that a hands on preview is a demo. Well unfortunately PGI didn't release a demo. They may after release but why when you can play during the open beta? That would be your hands on preview and you do not need to buy the Founders Packages. Why criticize people for buying the Founders Package? It's a personal choice, like people prefer Macs of PCs and vice versa. As you can tell I forked over a $120 because I "believe" in what PGI is doing. Also I'm a little vain as I want my name in the credits. However that is my decision to make.

Another person had commented on people foolish enough to pay $120 but still live in their parent's basement. Well I'm not exactly on of those people and I do make a decent amount of money, but I live with my parent because I'm accelerating my payment of my school loans after getting both my bachelors and graduate degree. Sure I can go out and live on my own, but their are reasons I choose to stay living at home that aren't selfish. I do pay a sizable portion for the mortgage and utilities at my parent's house, which is almost equivalent to paying rent at a single bedroom apartment, so I'm not mooching off of my parent.

Take it for what it's worth but that's my position.

Then don't buy the Founders Pack. If you think you're getting screwed if you don't purchase the Founder's Pack and find that MWO is a great game than you're SOL. It's your money do as you please. It's your decision. Easy enough. It just sounds like a bunch of people whining about not getting the Founders Package because they don't want to spend the money on a game that may turn out to be a great game and they missed out. Like I said, your SOL. I'm not sure if MWO will turn out to be a good, or even great game, but I'm willing to put my hard earned cash into helping PGI make is a realization.

Also $120 is what I would spend on an average weekend taking my girlfriend out. We haven't gone out on a weekend for awhile so I had the cash to blow. I know it could have been spent better somewhere else (like helping to pay down my huge student loan), but I love the MechWarrior franchise enough to give them my money.

This is essentially a preorder (paying for a game before it's officially released) which offers some nice bonuses as an incentive. You get early access to the closed BETA.

The game is not finished, it is not ready for free-for-all distribution. They don't even have enough servers to accommodate all the founders yet. It's ridiculous to expect an open beta before then.

What I *would* agree with is that the devs extend the founder offer at least until the open beta pops up (but before the game is 'officially' out of beta. I understand that the devs are trying to incentive early support, but investing in the game during the open beta is still early support, and it's 30/60/120 bucks that that player might not otherwise have spent on the game if the deal weren't so good. I'd say keep the offer up for those who want to try before they pay. Players who bought beforehand still get their bonuses (and these will be active during the course of the beta), devs get their money, and the rest get to try before they pay. Win-win, I'd say.

This is EXACTLY what Im talking about. I dont care about getting into closed beta that much or my name in credits, I just dont want to lose out on the other stuff becuase I wont part with my money sight unseen. I KNOW they are losing money the way they are doing it now. If they simply stated the the founders packs or something similar were going to be around during open beta, then all of this would go away, As it stands now they will lose players. They should be trying to cater to as many types of buyers as they can, but they chose not to.

There are so many games available to play already and lots of games waiting to come out that burning a wad of cash on this game without any preplay to see if it is something I want to play in the long run would just be stupid and irresponsible.

This is just a wrong argument in this Forum =P.

Also...you can FOR F...ING SURE buy C-Bills for money in the game. Just buy $120 when you see it live ( If you like the game, ofc )

So lets analize :

1) Founders C-bill gift. CHECK

Then, with 120 bucks worth in C-Bills, you ll ALMOST sure buy the 4 Base Variants offered in the Packs.

2) Four Mechs. CHECK.

So, whats left?

3) Fancy Skins/Variants ( With NO EDGE on normal ones )

4) Bonus to C-bills and Exp earned on selected Founders Mechs.

Bottom line, you are getting your money worth of Content, AND a life long bonus + Vanity gear.

" What if i get the Packs and then the game sucks for me? derp! "

Well, then just re-sell your f...ng Founder account, i can assure you, price will Skyrocket when this thing go live.

Azh.

If you cant part with $30 to thank a team of people who have been working to bring back a game we all love so much for the past 3 years, then go f*** yourself. We dont wanna hear your reason about why you dont want to buy one. If you dont like the game then charge back the money, other than that shut the hell up and keep your retarded opinions to yourself.

Thank you for not being retarded! <3

Thanks. I try but fail half of the time. ;)

What are they losing? When the game is out they will make plenty of money each month from the idiots like you who think the game will be bad and choose to not buy.

I can see it now.... "OMG THIS GAME IS BEAST, WOLFCLAW WAS RIGHT I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE PACKAGE! FMLLLLLLLLLLLLLL"

Where is the win-win? What does that mean for us who shelled out the money beforehand? Sure I wouldve bought it either way, but we chose to pay beforehand, you dont deserve the option to pay afterward. IMO The point of the founders was an early way for them to raise money to finish off their projects and make fans happy at the same time. There will be plenty of lower grade crap you can buy after the game is out. You'll be okay,

See, his and other's point is, "thanking" them with ones hard-earned 30-60-120$ implies they've actually done something worth being thanked for. Of which, alas, there's not much proof.

It's not so much "thanking" at this point as it is "gambling". Gambling to win in-game value while betting on the game not being utter cr@p upon release. Not all people like that kind of thing.

I think what he wants is a closed beta weekend or something open to everyone so that they can get a feel for the game to see if they should pay money to be a founder.
