Yeee? Buy it... and try if you're so smart.
I bought Golden Boy, and was MC down the drain.

Kintaro is not worth MC :-(

--------------

I had to do the upgrade in the Phoenix Project from Storm to Overlord. But this approach to create mechs, who knows what they will be, and whether it makes sense to spend more money by ... Maybe it is better to wait and buy per C-bills.

Personally, I hurried with Golden Boy, and paid for it with my wallet.

I was playing goldent boy wrong. Definit support mech. Once I put a LRM 15, LRM 10, 2 x med Lasers, Tag and SRm 4 in it with a XL 280, DHS, Endo Steel I liked it. I was trying to run it SRM style and without JJ's it turning it wasn't worth it. Now its not a teribad mech.

I find it incredibly amusing that the GB is the worst of the Kintaros in stat except it's ability to carry more missiles than the heat scaling allows it to use the way people want to use them. Smallest engine, worst torso/arm movement by a large margin. Anybody know the turn speeds?

About 15% faster than a stalker. At least for the GB.

Bummer, no light mech ;)

I hope we don't only get Hero -> MC -> CBill every month now. I liked getting a hero that was different than the regular mech released, feels like more variety.

I agree. There are other mechs needing a Hero - such as the Raven or the Catapult...hint...hint....hint....

Because you can't put autocannons on an Awesome. Trust me, if you could, well, we'd see a lot more of it.

Spoken like someone who has never piloted an Awesome.

You can put 4 Ballistic HP's on the AWS chassis as it is, and no one would pilot it. It has the largest CT, visible from the widest range of angles of any heavy or assault. It's a bloody deathtrap. I have three Mastered AWS chassis. Autocannons aren't going to help it not die when something sneezes in it's general direction.

This mech doesn't have problems with it's offensive capabilities. It can pack a punch. It simply can't survive a sneeze.

Ye i play 5x LRM5 or 2LRM15+2LRM5 2ML... but its selling like SRM boat... soooo The SRM Centurion 2.0 but no. Therefore, I feel cheated ... if the cutscene showed him as a support - fine. But they showed it as a completely different ...

QUOTE "And for the record, the Kintaro is NOT designed as an XL Striker, period." QUOTE

I apologize, I did not word my statement correctly. What I ment to say was that this possibly will be one of the most competitive builds the Kintaro will bring to the table in competitive play. You will probably see the XL striker used by the more competitive teams who do 12 mans, if at all. It is possible that a STD engine Brawler could be, but I have my doubts due to how easy people claim it gets cored. Slow speed = death. Therefore, 117 kph would certainly up the survivability of this mech. This is all theory and I am just sharing my thoughts with all of you, only until next week will I really find out.

Do not ppl for the love of god waste mc on the basic variant's, i would even suggest don't spend your c-bills on them as well unless you have a mountain of c-bills and you want to waste them.

lol Hero(MC)>Variants (MC) > Variants( CBill) is exactly what has driven my clan to other games. Every since closed beta I feel like PGI has a hand in my pocket nickel and diming me every chance it gets. I'm a person with a well into six figure range income and I'm getting tired of it very fast. I bet if you release a few more (C) mechs it will make it all better... /eyeroll

Why are people complaining about the size of the CT? Having a large CT just means you can run an XL without any additional risk! Enjoy having an additional 10 or so tons to spend on weapons B)

The catapult pilot in me approves. It is somewhat liberating to be mostly made of Center Torso. ;)

It does mean you shouldn't be brawling, but you CAN make a good fast attack/flanker mech with those. Plus it's nice that those 5 extra tons doesn't make the Kintaro automatically better than any other mediums.

And yet, this is PRECISELY what F2P games should do. Pay to get things faster, not to win. This is a good way for them to generate revenue without indulging in pay to win.

The problem is you don't have to find the Kitaro's. You don't even have to try. the vast majority of fire is simply aimed roughly center mass, and the Kitaro is far worse than every other mech (even the catapult, by a large margin) in that a huge percentage of such fire is going to reliably hit the CT.

Ever tried a Jenner in the last weeks? You get a shoot right from the back from left to right - and guess what is hit? Left arm and FRONT CT, nothing more. Your front CT gets hit if someone fires 50m beyound you in the ground. ;)

I don't have a problem with this 'Method' of releasing mechs.

Gives people that have MC to spend a few extra days to enjoy their spoils early. The mechs still come out on time, just a bit early if people want to spend money to get it early they can.

Two weeks is nothing and it's not like it unbalances the game. It's legit, doesn't hurt anyone and helps support the game for those that gotz to have it now.

So no, I don't have a problem with the method of releases.

What I have a problem with is the Low Quality nightmare that the KTO is being released at all without a single intelligent thought on it'***** boxes. That's my problem.

Would you buy oranges if they didn't add some coloring to them to make them appear orange and fresh? You know they do that to fruits and vegtables right?

Because they are nickel and diming you to buy variants that come out a week later for C-Bills. Bad arguement is bad. I see nothing that makes me want to buy a mech that comes out for C-Bills one week early for MC. It's people's choice to do it if they feel the need to do it.

No the term micro transactions needs to be understood and used, pay to win has nothing to do with it. Reminder this is BETA not release, we are paying to test mechs. Seriously try that in any other business line. This model almost looks like STO's which is a hair from failure because who wants to spend $30 on a virtual ship, the metrics are clear go read their financial quarterly statements... Read up on F2P and the models used in each, this path they are on is a destructive one where shortly even the hardcore fans will submit and move on. Did you ever ask why more and more items move to MC first, common sense will prevail if you take off the blinders. Consider the Phoenix packages that are months form even being ready, why sell a package that isn't completed unless you are in dire need of $$$...

The nice thing about the golden boy is that it's easily the worst kintaro. Pay to lose!
If you want to play a slow bawler, play a heavy.

Er. Brawler. I guess golden boy makes a good slow bawler.

Especially because huge ct does mean any decent kint will be an xl variant.

Not that I care. A new mech costs 10 million. X3 to master. Add 5 million per xl variant.
Cbills per game has dropped to 60-70k per 10 minutes. 400k tops per hour.
I have to LOVE a mech to invest 100 hours into a new chassis.

So yeah, maybe I should stay out of this discussion. I am RELIEVED every time they release a mech I don't want or like. I would be so mad if this supplanted the 20 million I've put into cents. (5 mill plus 750k art, plus 1.5 mill dhs plus 1.25 mill endo ff plus 1.25 mill when I experimented with a build without artemis and changed my mind). (I bought the ylw at half off for #3.)

Because it's right. A Cardinal says so.
