I'll fight a noob about the same as I'll fight anyone else. If they've got some fighting spirit (even if they lack polish) they can be fun, but if there's no challenge, it's too boring to seek out.

Not sure about the "stomping" part - people don't learn anything from being insta-gibbed by top-gear/FotM gimmickery, but they don't improve from being coddled either.

But I'll take the fights that come my way, that's sort of the point of PvP.

So for all of us who are buying into Operation Inception we will have a good jump on the newbies. In WoT however tanks are divided by tier so often time vets could intentionally play low tiers and stomp away on noobs. I think MWO will spread out the player base more, we'll see.

Your thoughts and feelings on noobs, stomping noobs, and skill disparity are all encouraged. :)

MWO wont have blatant exploits like WoT, like having your tank with nearly impenetrable from every angle in a game with people stuck in crap (you have the money and crew skills and modules all maxed out for survival, they have a 75% trained crew at best). in mwo your day 1 mech will be able to damage someone whos been playing for a year if you find him and hit him.

also in mwo we wont have to deal with the sight range bullshit of wot, you can hide from radar but the naked eye will always see you if you are in line of sight.

I expect to be fairly adept at MWO online fairly quickly, as I have plenty of league based MW experience. I have no desire or intention of seeking out the more idiotic of my enemy pilots to destroy. Obvioulsy if some all machine gun Atlas blunders into my sights I will put it out of my misery.

As I am in a merc corp, I assume that merc vs merc drops will quickly become where I find "upper tier" competition. All newbies that join us (and they are quite welcome) will be coached up to speed ASAP. Any noobs will be hammered into newbies or set adrift to be lone wolves.

I also assume that I will be able to play as a solo pilot in house drops. In the random, anyone that wants in gets a slot drops I expect to see both newbies and noobs. If we assume that the drop represents a battle in a large campaign to control the planet, then these folks simply represent the raw recruits without battle experience that get tossed into the fight because in a war the number of combatants matter.

Forgive my misuse of the term noob, I also am not a huge fan of it, but I definitely am one.

You didn't misuse it. It is part of popular culture. No harm. No foul.

I still detest it. But that is my burden to bear.

Their tears feed me and make me stronger.

Seriously, I saw a noob quit WoTs because his Tier 4 artillery that he just unlocked wasn't top of the list. Artillery folks...artillery.

I will help them if they honestly ask for help and it is a reasonable request. But I will not have mercy on someone who is to damn lazy to look it up. There is a time and place for everything and in the middle of a match is not it for me to tell them 'W' moves you forward.

To stomp NooB's for the sake of being a dick is wrong. People like that shoud be punished. Just remember people we were all NooBs at something. How did you feel when people did the same to you. However it still can be fun to break in the NooB's thrash them around a bit but as long as your trying to help then at the same time. Now I will admit there are those really bad dumb ignorent NooBs that want learn a damb thing or go out of their way to be NooBish. Now those are the ones that you thrash around so hard that they go cynig to their mommies and want to quit. For they will bring everones enjoyment down. We all have seen these guys espcialy anyone who plays WoT.

hi
bit of a cross between a NooB and a Newb (thanks for explaining so clearly the difference)
Me think Darwin got it right:
"survival of the fittest" and "struggle for life".... :)
well,if you come upon me poor european newbie on the field of battle and happen to get a headshot...you may grin and stomp but don't forget to feed a morsel to my starved newbie brains...i mean a bit of advice from exp players is always welcome!!!!!
who knows you might be happy to have me scouting for you one day...

unless we're talking demolishing a server admin until his breaking point, because he's a smug willy and deserves it anyway, then no, I do not take pleasure in tormenting noobs or newbies just for the sake of it, since one who partakes in the lording over others through vanity and pettyness is a noob that is building themselves towards a mental breakdown when their ego bubble pops.

the only exception to this rule is if I get called a hacker by a noob, or a new player is being ignorant, then it's game on out of principal, But I usually ignore the loud mouths, they're just looking for attention.

and for future education on the topic of whos genetalia goes on which body (mainly because I don't want to type it when there's already such a well written distinction)

Everyone starts out a noob :) and sometimes getting facerolled is the best learning curve ^_^

If they forget autocannon ammo like one of the options said I can almost assure you they wont be doing that anytime soon after beeing turned into a pile of molten metal :D

That said im fully expecting myself to be on the receiving end of "noob stomping" the first week or two after I get the game. Its all part of the fun! If you cant grow in a game wheres the fun in it? :)

Ouch that was uncalled for. I have many, many much dumber threads all throughout the forum.

Except you Gigadouche you hurt my feelings.

i enjoy my fair share of trolling =D

n00b stomping is just a more interactive format of it. although if i'm feeling generous i'll pet them (with a PPC in the rear) and be on my way.

I wasn't really a fan of noob-stomping. It's important to make sure you're helping new players. Stomped too much and they'll leave.

This is the petty side of gaming. I mean the players who are max level and hunt lower levels, because it is easy. Rather than being competitive they need their daily...

EGO BOOST

I'm good at every game I play in PvP and I don't waste time on newbies. I look for the players who constantly attack the weaker player and take them out instead. That is far more fun, they are always the ones who have something to say when they are taking out 3 times in a row, they often get so upset that their plan for an easy match, constant kills, is being ruined by someone just as good or better than them.

Yee bring it on lol

I do not believe in noob stomping - that term implies hunting for newbies or people with little gaming skill who just want to have a good time.

I do, however, shoot anyone that crosses my path and is not specifically designated "Friendly". If that person happens to remain or become stationary for whatever reason I do not ask, score the point and move on.
Having been a newbie myself (in WoT) 5'300 battles ago I know that they will gain skill and in time will splatter me for I am an utterly medicore player - in the end, everybody ends up happy :)
