Is California's bay area not the birthplace of the electronics industry known as the "Silicon Valley", home to the greatest of electronic, tech, manufacturing and, programming giants? I think deservedly so.

its a place where emplyment laws are lax and corperate taxes are low, thats the only reason the 'giants' go there

Exactly. If you're fine paying $40 combined with gas, bridge toll, and parking, and don't mind dealing with downtown traffic, then by all means, drive to the event.

How will you guys get there then? Amtrak and Greyhound only runs in till 9 pm and Bart stops at Midnight because hotels are not cheap.

I was planing on parking at EZ Public parking garage which is 17 dollars for the whole day.

The garage is on 6th and Jesse St.

I'm taking BART. Last train leaves SF at midnight, which is plenty of time when our event is over at ten.

The launch will be great. Teenage girls yelling and fainting, throwing their underwear onto the stage in a frenzy of just being present at the lgendary event of the "Beta" tag removal.

Well, lets see this a little bit more realistic... most of the Mech Warrior fans are guys who played MW2 or older while they were in their early teens... so Im afraid that the yells will be slightly lower pitched... and the underwear will probably have to be Briefs, Y-Fronts and Boxershorts.... I really dont want to be anywhere near that stage;

Heres short preview of it (the SFW version without the flying guys underwear);

Just a quick reminder, the FAQ for the event has been updated with another post with more questions answered including this tidbit:

Q: Do I have to bring a computer, headset, mouse, keyboard, chair, etc?
A: You will not need to bring anything but yourself. Our friends at NVIDIA will be providing computers, and Razer will have some top of the line peripherals. In the spirit of equal play, participants will only be permitted to use the systems and peripherals provided. (Exceptions can be arranged if you have a disability.

This guy gives great advice that is worthy to heed. The "big event" that the FAQ alludes to is nothing other then Oracle World, the largest convention San Francisco holds. The convention center is just a few blocks from our party. Not only will parking be more than difficult, but rates will be higher than normal. Inbound traffic to the city also increases during this time, causing slow downs all day.

Can a developer answer: Will the tourney be on a LAN or not?

The last party was a LAN party at the NVIDIA campus, with all hardware already provided and installed. The rigs were pretty sweet, too.

So here we are, 9 days away from the official launch party in San Fran, and..... we still don't know what the teams are going to be for the tourney.

So... what should be done about this?

More than likely, this is because they haven't had a finalized 192 yet (16 12 man teams) due to people dropping out, not RSVP'ing, etc.
