Wouldn't you rather they do something more constructive with their time... perhaps update ckeditor since the one they are using has a IE10 specific bug where you can't hit enter. (other browsers work fine)

Why would anyone "tirelessly upload fresh jpg images to a server"? Make an image of every 5- or 10% progression, upload them all and have a script put the right one on the page.

If a script automatically updated the page, PGI's sales goals are really insanely high or Phoenix sales are really low. It took 68 69 hours to move the bar only 5%, right after they announced it, which is the period where you'd expect the most sales.

The simpler and more likely explanation is that the page is only updated manually when marketing orders it.

Don't care about the bovine excrement people are throwing at PGI because of the phoenix sale, or any other fertilizing going on in here. I just want a cool locust, shadowhawk, thunderbolt and battlemaster.

Also I really want a flame pattern for a locust and jenner. Because 1950's hot rod flame skin is awesome. However it's put in the game I don't care. As long as it gets in some how.

Except they didn't, we already checked. Whoops! How embarrassing.

Have you ever read the webcomic Schlock Mercenary? If you haven't, give it a go, it's great fun if you're into sci-fi. It updates once a day and has done so without fail for over thirteen years. Never missed a day. The artist, Howard Tayler, uploads the individual comics to the server usually two or more weeks in advance - and people cannot access them even though they're there. Yet, as if by magic, a new one gets published every day.

This comparison -- to Kickstarter's stretch goals, or to StarCitizen's crowdfunding drive-- is exactly what is making folks uneasy.

Why on earth are you "uneasy" about this? Even if it is just a marketing ploy, does that hurt you in any way? If you already purchased Phoenix, you get extra stuff. If you didn't, you're no worse off. What is it that makes you uneasy, exactly?

All of the images served by static.mwomercs.com/img seem to have the same open permissions, but beyond that, we already have seen that loyalty_2_45_on.jpg exists, the new loyalty_2_50_on.jpg was just provided, and we already have seen in this thread loyalty_2_100_on.jpg (for when it is unlocked without explanation of what it even meant) is already there. Everything in between, however, is absent. This pokes a few holes in your theory. Can you account for this discrepancy?

I don't see how it changes the fact that the stretch goals are super opaque, either. You have no idea how much your contribution adds.

LOL, this is all gold. The only requirement to hide images is when there is information that is required to be hidden. Reaching the goal isn't hidden information so no hidden images. The images were created using a Photoshop script and uploaded all at once; no need to waste extra power and CPU's generating the images as they are required. They where never meant to be hidden, and they are tied to actual sales goals that will auto increment by itself.

Here's the list of images so you don't go spreadin' more misinformation:

Awesome, finally some sort of confirmation about things. Thank you very much for this, we run around like chickens with our heads cut off without information. One small question though, why is Phase 2 @ 45% the only 5% increment represented? Just because it was the starting point? Please keep on spreading information.

Also you'll have to forgive us for grasping at straws, the website's been killing itself lately and the 50%, 90%, etc. images were just bouncing us to the front page earlier.

i don't think we're gonna make it...
those who wanted it have it already.
and compared to a game like star citizen there is no way to get more than the overlord package. so the current pledgers won't go any further. getting the same amount of people again... naaah... not gonna happen

and again: seriously PGI - you should be a little bit more open and do it like CIG ;)

Yeah, when I made the page live, I didn't want to waste the time making it 40 percent when it was actually 45 percent. It was, you correctly deduced, the start number.

Doesn't seem like I have to, since Kyle just confirmed it was working exactly the way I guessed it was. The images are all there, and are applied by a script when goals are met.

I'll take a pass on that. I'm comfortable in my cow-skull cap thank-you-very-much. Also, I love being PGI; but I'm always an open book, when I have the time that is.

It also sounds like, based on what you said, if we increase a pledge (e.g. get a bigger package) it will actually help reach the next stretch goal faster. Can you comment on that?

Earlier they weren't loading, which I'll chalk up to the site's recent problems. They're definitely, without question, all there and I'm glad he chimed in.

Instead of dealing in comments, I'll deal in cold hard facts.

The percentage of these bars are based on total monies earned. More money earned more that bar will move (automagically!) however the milestone numbers and total amounts are hidden, so I can't share those.

Hopefully somebody up top decides to share the milestones with us, but knowing that an upgrade will help is cool and we appreciate that and won't need to jump at shadows.
