I actually am not sure the Ost family is classified with the other HG mechs. How they even ever got included is a mystery. Non of the Ost mechs even look like what the one from Macross looks like, they don't even have heads.

It's the legs. Turn the battlepod's legs around so that it has human knees instead of being a chickenwalker and they're pretty much the same thing, particularly the feet. Take a look at the Ostscout for example:

Or the Ostsol. It even has the circular "viewport" in the center of the torso and the four "antenna" lasers. Slap a couple of arms and a head on a battlepod and you begin to see the similarity.

Posted Image

As for the Ostroc... Well, this was the Ostroc Mk. II from the original Battledroids edition of Battletech.

So that's why they're considered Macross designs. Of course, they (apart from the Mk II which was never seen again outside of Battledroids) are far less similar than the more popular Marauder, Warhammer, Crusader, Phoenix Hawk, Stinger, Wasp and so on, but probably still enough that HG would see the potential for lawsuit dollars if someone tried to use the original TR images.

If you think about it objectively its actually fairly ingenious (though I may be giving the marketing department too much credit) - You put forward a initial reward for those that have already invested in ProPho (thus reducing the likelyhood of refund requests through stagnation or malcontent with changes in the game) and use this same reward to bait new customers to also pick up the pack in hopes of taking advantage of the new bells and whistles.

Furthermore without showing hard numbers we get neither a indication of how many packs are currently purchased, need to be purchased or even if the bar is a representation of the total or a sample number and this helps prevent the "reward" from backlashing and hurting the game by reflecting poorly on the pack sales. (In fact, odds are if you already have a ProPho you will get all of the rewards by the time everything is said and done, unless they take a realism approach and keep the flame pattern back for a individual sale later.)

Of course I might just be imagining smoke and daggers abound while PGI is just being cautious and inadvertently getting getting a win/win sales pitch. :)

Even if no one bought the any Phoenix packs, they would still increase the rewards, because why waste finished assets.

Good for the buyers of the Pheonix package, sounds like a nice bonus.

Now can you please update us about how high our expectations should be about getting a balanced, glitch free and polished product during the launch?

It's disturbing to see a 20 tons lighter Thunderbolt to look bigger than a Battlemaster (the tallest mech miniature back in 3025 era). Hope this will be properly fixed.

Its still not close enough. They look vaguely like the legs of the other, until you look at specifics. The Ost mechs never would have made it through the lawsuit. The works only have to be like 30% different or something like that, and given the specific features, they are way more than 30% different.

Plus anything FD did would divorce it even more. For example Bishops Ostscout looks like the ost scout, but nothing like the Macross design. The Ost mechs also aren't numbered in the big 12 designs that are part of the original lawsuit.

Well, true. The resemblance is very vague with the Osts. In some cases so vague you really have to make an effort to see any resemblance at all. Personally I kinda think FASA lumped them in with the rest of the unseen more due to their "Let's be certain noone will ever have even the ghost of an excuse for suing us again, just to be on the safe side" overreaction which caused them to "unsee" the Dougram, Crusher Joe and even the Victor Music Industries images specifically made for FASA rather than licensed from someone else's IP (the IIC designs from the 3055 TRO). Basically they went into full paranoia mode regarding any and all art not specifically created and designed in-house.

That said I wouldn't put it past HG to try a lawsuit based on the Osts if they showed up and were close to the original designs. But then I kinda wouldn't put it past HG to eat kittens and kick puppies if they thought they could get a dollar for it. Maybe I'm not completely unbiased about that particular company.

It does look a smidge squat though. Might benefit from some stretching.

Well, thanks, Kyle-the-Admin for updating us on how it all works.

So far I've only bought Talon. Now I'm considering an upgrade to Storm or even higher for the common cause. I guess that's pretty much how this offer was intended to work.

I still think the Camo looks like track suits though :)

Really?

You guys are complaining that they wont show you exact numbers? I mean seriously, give it a rest. You would think that this game had a subscription model or something.

They are even complaining that "it took a dev 24 pages to answer", "their goals are insanely high"

Right, because they're not human and therefore don't deserve to have a weekend to spend with their families. :D

Not true, they could just turn around and make the Flame Pattern a standard MC Store item, instead of an exclusive PP Phase3 reward.

Yes, my bad. On the weekdays they are very present here, oh wait.

That would cost them even more goodwill and makes no sense from a PR standpoint (but then again, 'PGI').

i don't think we're gonna make it...
those who wanted it have it already.
and compared to a game like star citizen there is no way to get more than the overlord package. so the current pledgers won't go any further. getting the same amount of people again... naaah... not gonna happen

and again: seriously PGI - you should be a little bit more open and do it like CIG :D

I want it and don't have it yet. I know at least a few others in the same boat. I bought the basic package to reserve the 30 day premium bonus, but I plan to upgrade to a bigger package as soon as I get paid again.

If they want some one with no life, there is probably a big selection out here. o.o

here is my problem, the colors are not unlocked to me and i already saw many guys with this colors and they all said that the color were unlocked for them. any idea why i cant get them?

Well to my understanding no one should have any Pheonix colours yet. They're probably using the PC gamer colours or they've bought similar ones. Some people lie, but to my current knowledge... no one really has the colours. I checked my account last night and didn't see anything extra either. I wouldn't worry. Colours will for sure be handed out Oct 15th.

The time bonus was only for the top 2 tiers was it not?

No, that's the "regular" premium time that comes with PP. The "Early Bird" bonus premium time was an additional 30 days added to that, no matter what tier you bought.

Summing up:
Overlord: 90 days premium + 30 days Early Bird bonus = 120 days
Guardian: 30 days premium + 30 days Early Bird bonus = 60 days
Storm: 0 days premium + 30 days Early Bird bonus = 30 days
Talon: 0 days premium + 30 days Early Bird bonus = 30 days

The early bird premium was time for you to grind out what little enjoyment you could before getting your phoenix refund after seeing the implementation of, and then doubling down upon, ghost heat. It was nice of PGI to pay people premium to try their new terrible system out, then give feedback in the form of support tickets when the forum feedback was summarily ignored.
