Regardless of whether it was a stunt or not, those of us who bought this still get 3 perma unlocked colors, some cockpit item, and a perma pattern unlock for a minimum of 1 mech. That's not shabby when you consider what that'd cost in MC.

Was always very excited to get these mechs. Even before all the bonuses. Now even more goodies means that the waiting is just getting more difficult :D

The one thing I fear is that come Oct 15, matches will be incredibly boring regarding Mech-variety on the battlefield.

Maybe it's just me, but I fear we are bound to see nothing but Phoenix-Mechs fighting each other from that date on... :D

Phase 3: Done! :D

I wonder if it was the "leaked" Locust pics that spurred the last few purchases? If so, good marketing

And yeah, after seeing those pics, I can't wait to strap one of those little devils on and go zooming about. Wonder if they're small enough to go between a Centurion's legs?

True.

But considering that almost everyone I play with on TS has ordered it, there's bound to be a *ton* of them around on Oct 15.

Which I don't *really* mind ... I guess after a while the novelty will wear off anyway and things'll go back to normal. Plus I don't think that the Locust with its lack of jumpjets will be a true alternative for hardcore Spider-lovers (a plague on them!).

That unlock was going to unlock within a few days of Oct 15 no matter how many they sold. I don't know why anyone believes otherwise. They would have given a number if it was a real counter. Now they can brag they hit their "goal" and it's close enough to end to have spurred some sales from the gullible who thought it wouldn't. Why is this so hard to grasp. Real goals give amounts, gimmicks just have a bar.

Who would have thought that all they needed to push the sales was to publish a few actual screenshots, huh?

Damn PGI, sometimes their decisions (or lack of) really drive me nuts. Seriously, a year to spill some (old) beans about Community Warfare. Still no DX11 test or screenshots, no video sneek peek at UI 2.0 save for the hyper tiny one from launch party. What are they afraid of, Pepsi Cola stealing their secret ingredients? Damn!

You want to sell? Keep people excited. And no, typed characters are not nearly enough!

And good job us all on unlocking Phoenix tier 3.

At least there is quite a variety between the Phoenix mechs, and there will be the odd person not using them. I think there will be more variety than right now (5+ boar's head per match)

I agree.

We currently have 101 variants of 21 chassis*; with the Phoenix and Saber 'mechs in, it'll be 119 variants of 27 chassis.

Sure, people will be running their 18 variants of 6 new chassis, but it's still less than 25% of the available 'mech chassis and about 15% of the available variants.

*counting all Hero and Champion 'mechs
