Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere: If we already have bought the Phoenix Overlord but now decide to purchase Saber also, will that push up the loyalty bonus toward the free fire pattern?

EDIT: doh just noticed we're fully unlocked. Sweet.

... still gonna buy the saber. Liking the looks of the griff and wolv

Marketing tactics aside, I'm just happy that I'm getting 12 classic BT mechs with mechbays, and decent camo pattern for all of them for $80.
Given the recent release of BH, we'll soon see 5 hero-class mechs plus 8 standard variants running around which adds significant variety, with greater density of lights and mediums. Although I plan to start with the Thunderbolt, messing around on the Locust whenever I get tired of the slow-ish movement of my heavy & assault mechs would be a welcome change of pace.

All in all, I can't wait until the 15th!!!

BTW, Please get rid of/revamp Mordor.
BTW2, Please fix MM - Too many 11v12s, and I even experienced 5v12 last night.

That unlock was going to unlock within a few days of Oct 15 no matter how many they sold. I don't know why anyone believes otherwise. They would have given a number if it was a real counter. Now they can brag they hit their "goal" and it's close enough to end to have spurred some sales from the gullible who thought it wouldn't. Why is this so hard to grasp. Real goals give amounts, gimmicks just have a bar.

That's what I've been thinking.

Oh go put your tinfoil hat back on, the orbital mind control lasers are coming over the horizon.
Now this is maybe a bit of a crazy idea, but bear with me.

Waaaaaay back when he said that this would happen. And now it's happened. Maybe the hat gives him psychic powers?

If this were the case, I'd have expected them to slow the pace to have it unlock closer to the 15th. Can't spur sales if everyone thinks you are going to get there anyway or, in this case, already made it.

*shrugs* I suspected this at the beginning (see: my comments early in the thread), but with that said I'm happier they did it this way.

You seem to be saying this disparagingly, but that's the wrong approach as a customer. This way is win-win; we get Cool Toys For Free, they get happy bragging rights. Everyone wins. If they'd set "Real Goals" and shared them; it would be entirely possible they could either set them too low (everyone mocks how low they are, they're achieved too early uselessly) or set them too high resulting in "omg look at how poor sales are" and sadness at people not getting the goal rewards. It's not like you can do anything beyond buying the pack yourself, so people's contributions to it are limited.

In the end, though, just be happy we get cool stuff and everyone wins.

Mind you, it could well have been legit too - we have no way to really know. I do know that I held off on picking up the saber pack till just before it clicked over to "met the goal", hell, mine may well have been the final purchase that did it. I was really torn about getting it - new baby, so funds are tight, and as awesome as the Wolvy and Griffy are, I already had the Overlord pack... but I really wanted those flame patterns :(

At least there is quite a variety between the Phoenix mechs, and there will be the odd person not using them. I think there will be more variety than right now (5+ boar's head per match)

*shrugs* There's always a lot of the new Hero. That dies down pretty quick though.

There WILL be a hell of a lot of Phoenix Mechs out and about after the 15th. What I'm interested in is weight class distribution.

See, normally there's zounds of the new mech around skewing things to whatever weight class that mech is, otherwise things tend to be fairly heavy overall with people moving to Heavies and Assaults.

With the Phoenix Pack, though, all the PP players have Locusts, most have Shawks, some have Thuds, and fewer have Battlemasters. But, those who bought the bigger packs have all the smaller mechs too, and will be looking to master them all. Thus, this may move overall weigth distribution to much lower tonnage drops - something I'd be happy to see.

I'm sure his way of explaining this away is saying that they intentionally moved it up to yesterday because they knew he was on to them, so they wanted to make the event seem legitimate by ending it early.

Because companies are so willing to leave tens of thousands of dollars on the table just to spite RG Notch. I mean, you can't BUY trolling like that!

Wouldn't it be funny if Star Citizen was falsely inflating their sales to build more hype for the game? Sure, they *say* they have $20M in founders pledges...what if the number was really only a quarter of that? HOW DO WE KNOW!?!?

No not really. By having the Flame Pattern Unlocked now, it gives time for people who might be nudged over the edge knowing that they are getting the Flame pattern FOR SURE to buy the package.

From a marketing standpoint, it really makes more sense for everything to be unlocked now.

I think that flame pattern will look good on the regular chassis. Assuming it starts off at the legs similar to how the Firebrand looks.

Seriously, the contortions people have to do to justify a conspiracy theory... Hurts my back just thinking about it.

You know how people pile onto kickstarters after the stretch goals have been met? That, but here.

So, which is it? Is PGI a bunch of marketing masterminds and are going to pull in so many loonies they are going to need trucks to haul around their money, or are they a bunch of bumbling idiots who can't figure out how to get a single thing right and the game is going to shut down in 3 months?

That's the best thing about conspiracy theories. You have to believe PGI is both the smartest AND dumbest group of people at the exact same time.

Who would have thought that all they needed to push the sales was to publish a few actual screenshots, huh?

Damn PGI, sometimes their decisions (or lack of) really drive me nuts. Seriously, a year to spill some (old) beans about Community Warfare. Still no DX11 test or screenshots, no video sneek peek at UI 2.0 save for the hyper tiny one from launch party. What are they afraid of, Pepsi Cola stealing their secret ingredients? Damn!

You want to sell? Keep people excited. And no, typed characters are not nearly enough!

And good job us all on unlocking Phoenix tier 3.

For all the screaming about DX11, from all the other games I've been a part of that have transitioned from DX9 to DX11, it is really not that significant of a change to the game. Maybe you can get some better framerates, but it's not that drastic of a graphics upgrade (if any change is noticed at all). Most of the time, it's just a port of the same graphics into a newer API

What if the "conspiracy" is that this is a short-term cashgrab and they don't plan for long-term viability? Doesn't that seem like a position lacking internal contradictions?
