Greetings, MechWarriors!
Project Phoenix has exceeded our wildest expectations in popularity, and we wanted to thank you for your support. As a token of our appreciation, we’re giving every Phoenix Project purchaser the phoenix paint colours unlocked for all of your Mechs!
As it continues its popularity, we’ll add more and more rewards to anyone who purchases, or has already purchased it. So if you already own it, here’s more stuff! And if you’ve just purchased it, thanks for giving people more stuff!
Also, we've added a list of the variants that will be released for each Phoenix chassis; enjoy!
Cheers,
The MechWarrior Online Team

Cheers.

I'l take it. I'm not a founder, but I bought an overlord. And I don't think PGI is intentionally trying to screw things up. But mostly, I think COMPLAINING when they try to do something good and give us free stuff is probably not the best way to get them to do it again (and maybe more successfully) in the future.

So you want us to lie and pretend this isn't about as exciting as old potato salad? That won't be useful feedback if we lie to them.

We ought to point out how not only is the new "stretch goal" system just a static JPG on a page without any indication of progress or milestones unlike systems such as what you see on Kickstarter or the Roberts Space Industries page, but the colors are very similar to the PC Gamer colors released before and therefore lack true utility and provide very little variety.

Seriously according to their progress page for the Phoenix project, there was zero movement at all over the weekend. Did nobody buy in? Do larger packs move the bar more than smaller packs? We don't know because PGI won't provide any information and that's a little screwed up when they're trying to motivate us to buy.

I can't tell my friends "Look, we are $400 from the goal, let's all upgrade our packages and convince our friend to get one!" because there's zero evidence that we're $X from a goal, zero evidence for what a milestone is (packages, dollars, days elapsed, mechs killed on the servers, what?), no hint of progress at all.

I have a feeling that no matter what happens the phase 3 will be unlocked. If not people won't take the "carrot" (as another poster stated) seriously in the future. The goal (known only to PGI) will surely be achieved.

And that's a problem, isn't it? It's so easy for anybody remotely skeptical to view this as a bogus endeavor, inevitably people who believe on faith that it is great and proceeding as planned will come to defend it, we'll argue for a bit, but ultimately PGI only polarized the community further without actually helping us to market the game to others.

All they'd have to do is stop being so opaque, even simply putting up a counter of packages sold versus the phase threshold (without revealing the milestone gifts themselves) would have helped out and drummed up curiosity/interest.

I don't think anyone thinks that they are intentionally screwing up anything. Most disappointed folks seem to think they just bit off way more than they can chew and that they are dillettants when it comes to community management.

That way they can just bump it up and say ' Hey, guys look at all the people that are buying' (Although what will that achieve I have no idea).

That's kind of the point Chronojam is making. It's a bad implementation because it looks super-low effort. You can always nitpick the reliability of your data, but this way it also seems a bit suspiciously lazy to some people.

That is the irony, the colour clearly is orange yet they have called it red.. ..unless the colour displayed is unrepresentative of the actual colour we will be provided?

(I had to take a peek again to make sure i was not going crazy..)

You don't mean to suggest that the color is wrong do you? Because that would be crazy.Posted Image

With my BJ-1 I grinded enough C-bills to upgrade it (2PPC + 2 ML + 2MG, XL220, 4JJ) and by another BJ. Elite skills only and no "master".

I got pics, though. Posted Image Posted Image

I think $60 founders made out pretty well.
Its the $120 founders that got screwed bigtime though.

Personally I think the four founders mechs should just get the same 30% cbill bonus and 10% loyalty bonus as the phoenix mechs. Thats not a big deal and it would make founders less upset about the phoenix mechs being better than founders mechs.

As one of those $120 founders, I can most certainly say that I don't think I was screwed. The fun I have had all this time is worth way beyond the amount I paid. And just to give some perspective, that $120 to me is just lunch money.

I went to the movies yesterday. It was $40. I like my Founders Package better than 3 movies. We never get popcorn or sodas or anything or it would have probably been around $80.

1 movie with popcorn, and sodas, for a couple of hours of entertainment vs. the Overlord Package which is hours and hours of entertainment.

Give me the Overlord Package.

Does it matter if a Red-Orange color is called Red or Orange? It's clearly both. (I'd say slightly more red than orange, but I'm not going to get twisted because they didn't call it Phoenix Red-Orange)

Concord Ivory is actually a golden yellow instead of a bone white color.
Truly Taupe is actually a purplish color instead of a brown.
Unfussy Beige is actually a mauve
Magnetic Gray is actually a green

Well, even though it is beige, black and orange and not grey, black and red, the color scheme still looks great.

Gold syndrome at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.

Well, as of 00:28:47 ET, gold has an asking price of $1382.30 per ounce. So $120 is peanuts in comparison.

Besides, it's not my fault you have much less lunch money than I do.

Or is it? :)

Although I am not happy about many aspects of the game (ghost heat, C-bill nerf, Founders Mechs paint makeovers) I do have to agree. I think the $120.00 I spent was great investment. I got pretty much 4 of my favorite mechs (all of which I grind like crazy for the C-bill bonus, a spiffy Legendary Founders Tag, Tons of MC and C-bills (that took me forever to spend) and a lot of premium time. The package was a great investment even though I am disappointed in how the game and PGI have turned out so far. With that said I did preorder the Phoenix Overlord Package when it first came out. I just know that if I didn’t I would regret it later. Just like the Founders Package. I was really on the fence about spending the $120.00 but I bit the bullet and went all in. Looking back now I am really glad I did. I have a feeling if I didn’t splurge on the Overlord package I would kick myself later. I am not going to buy any Hero mechs but knowing PGI they are probably going make these “packages” once a year or so. I can’t wait for the Clan invasion package and I think I will spend my money on those as they come out. These packages seem to be good deals. Now if they go pumping these packages out every 3 or 4 months all bets are off. I’m not made of money but I will continue to support this game if it doesn’t get totally ruined by poor decision making skills.

The Point is not about should we be reaching out to non-active players. It's about saying they're in agreement without checking in with them at all.

Giving a running total of guild sizes and then saying they're ALL on board with #savemwo is disingenuous. As I've stated, get them to all sign up, get those guild leaders to send out mass PM's to all their members, active or not and ask them to come over to the forums read up on what #savemwo is, and if they're in agreement sign the petition (just asking for a couple of minutes of their time, it shouldn't be that big of a deal). Then when you have 5000+ committed members, there you go, you can claim to have those numbers on your side. Until then, you are most welcome to say, "we have 1120 (as of this morning at least) members (overlooking a few dubious duplicate signatures) that are all in agreement."

If you want more people to take #savemwo seriously, then saying you have 5-8000 people on board when you currently don't doesn't help. Oh, and add to this the whole, "we're the most dedicated and active players" because that just isn't all that true either. You may be some of them, but trying to take ownership of that title is just counter-productive.

What's the threshold, in your mind, that it would take to establish once and for all that ghost heat is unintuitive, failed at its goals, and is detrimental to many builds? How many people need to raise their hands on the forum and say they've got a problem before we can acknowledge it, do you suppose?

How many people need to make a thread about the c-bill reductions and other changes that hamper the new player experience before we can stop and agree that yes, the new player experience is awful and no, PGI shouldn't be adding byzantine new systems on top of what they've already got?

I'm just curious what you consider to be enough.
