THIS. PGI might have a look at some successful Kickstarter game, like e.g. Star Citizen: "Buy before <insert criteria here> and get <insert bonus here>.
But then .. PGI wouldn't want to take anyone else as an example, would they?

You will never see the original art used for those 'mechs again. And nor should you want to.
Why? Primarily because that is licensed art, not owned by the franchise. That means even if they were to get rights to use that licensed art, they would be stuck using only that art to represent those 'mechs for as long as the license lasts. That means the designs can't grow or adapt over time. By using art that is created in-house, the property (in this case MWO for their Project Phoenix 'mechs and Catalyst games for their own TRO: Project Phoenix (2003)) can make whatever changes they want as the franchise grows.
Additionally, a lot of those designs just don't work in a 3D-rendered space. At least not without defying the laws of physics. As BattleTech is supposed to be set in a universe that is mostly like our own, that means armor that is rigid, objects have mass, and you still need to be able to have normal movement, including walking, arm movement, and supporting torso twist.
So while we will not and should not see the original Marauder again, there is nothing stopping anyone from making new art for the Marauder. The trick is to get people to accept the new art. The Unseen have been "ReSeen" for a decade, but the community by large did not accept the new art because 1) How dare you change the original art and 2) The art was for the most part, actually pretty bad. MWO has an outstanding art team, and I am pretty confident that they can come up with new designs that would be perfectly acceptable.
EDIT: Also, if anyone hadn't already noticed: ALL of the 'Mechs in MWO are new and original art, even the "non-Unseen" are using different art than the sourcebooks.

I got the Overlord package a while back since I enjoy playing the game and greatly appreciate that there actually is a Mech Warrior sequel after all. I don't care that much if there is or isn't a 3d person option or not. I try to keep up with all the talk that is ongoing but feel absolutely no urge to boycott the game.
I give the critics some respect. I agree that it is important that the game makers stick to what they say. I as well as the flamers feel that some things would have been better unsaid since the game has developed in a different way from that what has been stated.
But everything is just fine and I enjoy the game greatly. I want to cheer the game makers on and spur them on to excel and make MWO the best game ever!
The changes since the early stages is great (yes I've been around for a while), most of the changes are for the better and the overall feel of the game is really good now.
So I suggest that you get the value pack if you haven't

I want that cool flame pattern for my mechs!
Cheers

Personally I'm really looking forward to the next "Founders/ Project Phoenix" type fundraiser so I can throw more of my monies into the game that I love playing. It all comes back to personal opinion though, I guess.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm not for 3PV. But I'm not being forced to use It. Considering a lot of Mechwarrior games have 3PV.. It just doesn't seem like Its as big a deal as most make It out to be. Playing MWO a month ago and playing now, nothing changed negatively when I play the game. Its still as fun when I play now, as when I first started playing In Closed Beta. Launch is next month! We have a lot to look forward too!!
Edit: ... maybe using Chicken and pork chops wasn't the best example I could have used haha

I'm very excited for my Overlord pack, and I love the game despite the current forumrage.
If PGI where to release a fifth tier for the Phoenix Project? Say, with some extra skins, MC, more premium time, maybe an extra variant of each of the mechs?
I'd jump on that in a heartbeat. I'd happily push another $20 across the table for more awesome stuff at the same value level as the pack thus far.

If I can nit-pick a little... I'm kinda bummed because I already have a white black and red colour from PC Gamer... and these looks rather similar

But, the patterns look sweet! I hope we unlock those soon

Time to convince more people to buy it! The value has just increased about 1500MC (500mc per colour, but since they're SPECIAL colours.. That's even MORE value!"
In case anyone wants to recreate these colors try: Cobra Belly, Camo Black and Blood Orange.

Here's how it is PGI. Thanks for the free goodies and I HOPE that we'll see more of them.
Not gonna lie, your communications skills (especially when changing your mind etc) need some help
However, I appreciate that your brought back a great title, and do think it's a fun game. I do think you need to do something about the whole 3pv thing, as it as SERIOUSLY polarized the community. I think it's safe to say you need to tweak it a bit if you insist on having 3pv. (Cooldown period, make it use a module slot, it can be shot down, etc)
OR..if all you are really trying to do...is show the mech arm/leg/torso orientation. Why not just put in a "Mech Compass". Kind of like a turn and bank indicator on an aircraft? Put it in a corner (so it's fairly small), it shows leg orientation vs the arm orientation. And you can have a view from straight down (VERY CLOSE AS TO NOT BE USED AS A CHEAT). I'm not even sure you'd need to show terrain or other mechs.
But I'm not going to ask for a refund or anything.
Thanks
Ritter.

WHAAAAT and pay for those in a F2P game No way!!!
I'm happy with the basic goodies if something extra comes it's welcome that's just all.
P.S: the ratio of money vs entertainment i get from my legendary+overlord it's the 2nd best right behind Warband.
So i'll gave the same counsel as when founders came out.
If you feel it's worth or you can and wish to afford it go ahead, if you think it does not then ignore it.

I got a refund on the $20 Phoenix package back when heat scaling came out because I didn't like the direction that the developers were taking with the game. I didn't like that PPCs were broken so that meant that all weapons needed a nerf. I simply decided to pull out my insignificant investment and PGI was quite polite, accomodating, and understanding about the issue.
Heat scaling came and went. I've realized it's not so bad and that in a way they're just trying to make the game a little bit more like the tabletop I used to play so much. We don't lose speed or have a chance at an ammo explosion as we near 100% heat so SOMETHING had to be implemented. Anyway I'm rambling. My point is that the world didn't end, MWO is still fun, and dammit those mechs just look so freaking cool. I overreacted just like everyone else is about the 3PV thing which I see as a ridiculously insignificant feature that most people I see aren't even using.
Even though I only wanted the Locust, I am now considering buying the overlord package to make up for my hasty decision.

I have purchased the Talon package.
I want the Overlord(got to collect them all).
But dang it, I want to drive by in my zippy little Locust, and if i don't like you, I want to flip you the middle Talon.
And the Red Star just does not do a thing for me.
