It's a PGI statistic, along with the fact the 8-man queue would fail at least 1/3 of the time (which, again, was largely due to how harshly the balance and matchmaking changes were impacting organized play.)
Do keep in mind that their retention metric is basically that you are retained if you've played within the month. Did a patch come out, and you took a look at it? You're a retained player!
Why should I care what their metrics are? What difference does it make at all? If I found out that tomorrow, every founder left the game, it wouldn't impact me in the slightest (well, except for some sadness that I wouldn't be playing with some friends anymore)
You seem to be trying to convince me that I'm burying my head in the sad, and choosing to remain ignorant as to How Truly Bad Things Are, and if you could just get me to think, too pull the black and gold wool from my eyes I'd see the truth of what you say.
The problem here is that it doesn't matter.
Let's say I agreed with you. And? How does that help MWO? If you believe more forum ranting is going to change anything, you're far more a fool than you think I am.
There are two things I care about:
1) That I am having fun. I am,so that's good. If not, I'll go do something else that I do find fun, simple as pie. I have way to little time to waste it playing a game I don't enjoy, or crusading for change that clearly won't happen.
2) That MWO keeps running andsucceeds, because for me to continue having fun in MWO, I need online servers and other players, and because I want the industry to see that the MechWarrior IP can be successful.
In this later regard, the
only way I can help MWO succeed is by financially supporting the game, and by showing others that I'm having fun - good word of mouth, if you will.
Ranting here that the sky is falling and that PGI are evil ******** destroying the game is entirely unconstructive. It acheives
nothing.
But, I'm happy. Clearly, net phoenix pack sales where very high, as is easily seen here and in game. Thus PGI is clearly making a profit. That's good, because profitable games get more development than unprofitable ones (which close).
