They've already succeeded many patches ago. I'm sure it could be nerfed some more.

After seeing this tweet by Russ B. I was reflecting upon how players and their data are going to be used in the next days and weeks. As someone who does not want my game play data used to support the inclusion of 3rd person in MWO, I realized an unfortunate reality.
Player data is going to be referenced as proof that 3rd person does not impact the game in a negative way. If veteran players continue not to use 3rd person view, it will be presented as proof that it is not game-breaking. (see above) Furthermore, the lack of use will be used by 3rd person supporters to argue for an improvement of the mechanic, most likely through the inclusion of more information (map, other data) and even improving the aiming. Thus, if we continue to play MWO, we are supporting the expansion of 3rd person to be an increasing part of the gameplay experience.
If veteran players DO use the 3rd person view, this data will be used to show that players actually did want it all along, even though so many people claimed otherwise.
It's a curious position to be in as a fan of MWO because the only way to not be used as proof that 3rd person perspective is a good thing is to not play.
Of course the comedy tinfoil view is that it doesn't matter what player behavior is because the conclusion was reached long ago, and with no oversight on what player data actually is, PGI can say it supports their decisions no matter what.
If anyone could help me come up with options here, I would appreciate it. I don't really want to stop playing entirely, yet I feel as if I have no choice.

If you truly want PGI to see your disappointment (other than quit and/or demand for a refund), I STRONGLY SUGGEST that the community dub every Wednesday (or the day after a hotfix/patch), Disapproval Wednesday.
Let PGI know that your absence will affect the game. Sure, some of us will still be around on the boards, but we should refuse to play the day after a TERRIBAD PATCH. Let them feel what it would be like when this game really goes down the hole... then they may perhaps someday reconsider their terrible stances, terrible balance, and terrible ideas that noone has suggested to them, other than themselves.
It is with their inaction to do the right thing, that we should be inactive in the game we all hope we would love, but don't due to poor decision making and communication... starting from the top.

Of course it has been their intention all along. (Forced 3PV)
In order NOT start in 3PV, you must go into the options and disable it as the default. That being the case, HOW would a new player even GET to play "Hardcore"--(The fact that they call it "Hardcore is a slap in the face) without going into the options menu. (which new players rarely do). New players that DO select "Hardcore" will find that they are not allowed (due to the default setting).
For all of the people who scream "Bait and switch!", the cold reality is this is Fraud.

Veteran's aren't using it so it's fine? If they were using it you'd say it's fine too. Complete BS. Terrible analysis. Shocking how that means no matter what happens it's all good.
Liars.
Might as well be telling me that magnet therapy works next.

Magnet therapy works, you just have to apply proper voltage to the "client".

Nice omniscient god like view for those without any skill at all.
Absolutely worthless in a game where so much time was spent
modeling arm restrictions and angle views.
Who's designing the game, a committee that doesn't play it?
Edit: I see that there's "Hardcore" modes that may become available in the game mode selector... if that's the case and 3rd person view is out with those modes... cool.

But perhaps it is a way to see how popular it is? As in, they can track how many people press F4 to go back to 1st Person, how quickly, etc...? Just a thought.

You assume electro magnets, but most magnet therapies use ferro-magnets. Voltage doesn't come into that level of BS.
Though it would be funny if totally unproductive given the general lack of a response the human body has to magnetic fields at those levels. We'll talk if you're referring to something like 3T fMRI imagining....

... because that's not magnet therapy.

Naturally PGI will look at the numbers, see that people aren't using it, and then buff it so they will. Expect threads from players arguing that 3rd person doesn't show enough information, isn't easy enough to use, and cannot be used for extended play.

1. See guys, it's not that big of a deal. Our "data" even shows there's no advantage!
2. We're looking into tweaking 3rd person to make it more newbie friendly
3. We've added the minimap and other functionality to 3rd person to improve gameplay
4. After extensive research into player behavior we've determined that 3rd person perspective makes for a superior game. Thus is is now the required gameplay view.
Baby steps...

how will it be good? he's going to get a big fat nope
If he bought the Phoenix Package he will probably get a refund. As far as the other money he spent they clearly misrepresented the product they were selling. This is how class action lawsuits start.
