I am finding it difficult to put my opinion into words, this entire 3pv mess seems dishonest and misleading. While I thought the inclusion of 3pv was unnessesary, I was positive I would not have to suffer it.

I simply do not want to be FORCED to use 3pv to be competitive, and make no mistake you HAVE to use it. I realize I am just another voice in the crowd. But with nearly $400 invested I hope it is a voice you can hear.

You still can't see **** captain. there's still a building blocking a considerable amount of your field of view. There may be a mech in that blocked FoV and unless he has a seismic sensor, that Spider would never know it.

That has got to be one of the flimsiest defenses I've ever witnessed. So just because one mech might be in that blind spot (which could be checked by turning the spider's torso) it makes it balanced? Seeing practically that entire portion of the map from the safety of a building (let alone the safety of a spider's broken hitboxes) is balanced?

You get something out of 3rd person that you wouldn't from first. The kicker? All those "disadvantages" being touted are killed by hitting F4. Anyone who actually fights in third person is hurting themselves anyways.

So them knowing where one mech is (And not know what mech it is) and me potentially seeing their entire team and also seeing all of their mechs is balanced?

This. Get a scout, drive it to the enemy, park it behind an obstacle and identify their whole team while they can't do sh*t about it. Wohoo, they can see a drone above that hill, so what?

And apart from this, for those who say "You can switch to 1st if you don't like it": But I can't switch off those ridiculous drones flying above my team mates and enemies. I want to play MW, not Unreal Tournament.

Ah yes, THAT pic. Seen it already, and you know what? There is STILL a building blocking not only a significant portion of your field of view, but also your sensors. I'm still not convinced.

F4 was a wierd key choice. make it F8 maybe?

so far, no issues with 3PV. For myself, the game is almost unplayable, looking at your mech is nice, but that is about it.

i dont like how you can spot with it using voice comms over building edges however. I do expect hardcore mode to be an option in the future and one i plan to play exclusively.

I think the poster is being sarcastic, you know the spider has a seismic sensor equipped. Absolutely-Freaking nothing is hidden from it and throw in the neat new AIMBOT, sure it only changes the camera lmbao

Oh glad to see one white Knight showed up, maybe that one gets an actual paycheck?

Apparently everyone doesn't realize 3rd person is gimped and is basically streamlines the HUD and displays your mech so you can understand how the mech moves while you learn to play. Like literally, I've played 10 matches today, for one, ONE, ONE, ONE, ONE minute of one match did i decide "3PV would have actually helped there." Its not game breaking, its not game ruining, its a tool for a new player to learn how a mech operates. Nothing more.

And good day to you, you whining buggers who don't even bother to try it so you realize how much it sucks.

Hey, all you NBT veterans and those who otherwise enjoyed No-respawn MW4 and MWLL.

If you love MechWarrior and you loved the experience you had in NBT-4 and NBT-mercs, or in MW4-NR and/or MWLL, now is the time to quit MWO.

Being forced into 3rd person queues is an affront to everything you love, and it will not get better. PGI are a bunch of liars, and will not improve the game with community warfare. There is no reason to believe that any sort of competitive, tactical gaming environment such as we had in MW4 no-respawn leagues will be possible in MWO. Similarly, if you just enjoyed NR play in MW4 or MWLL, that game type is dead as well.

As long as MWO is successful, IGP will continue to hold the MechWarrior license. As long as IGP holds the license, nothing will change. You have no recourse but to quit. The only message you can send is to reduce their player counts. Reduce the viewers of their podcasts. Reduce the number of MWO centric leagues and websites.

Maybe PGI will listen and remove 3rd person or add separate queues (in which case you should come back). If they don't then MWO needs to fail, and another developer/pulisher pick up the IP.

EDIT: I'm done until there are separate queues, minimally.

After designing, developing, and testing the MWO’s 3PV, we quickly realised that 3PV offered no significant advantage over 1PV. In fact we found each mode had pros and cons that played well with each other. This revelation changed our initial 3PV plans and we postponed Hardcore mode (separate queues for 1PV and 3PV), in favor of rethinking the idea and offering up a different solution that also addressed a few more community wish list items.

If you quickly realised that 3PV offered no significant advantage over 1PV, you should have left it in the training grounds where it belongs.

For shame.

My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

I don't think 3rd party view is that bad as it is described. however the component to auto lock with energy and ballistics should be disabled unless you have a command console installed, which allows to shoot and command at one time. the only thing what should be possible is to get locks with lrms or ssrm as these have target lock function. one thing also. if someone uses the 3rd party view, then it should be possible to shoot down the camera drone (same as the UAV).

My feedback is this.

When I purchased founders I was told 1pv only...

When you guys told us 3pv was coming anyway but we would have separate queues and "NEVER HAVE TO PLAY WITH 3PV" I continued buying premium time.

You have clearly lied to us....I will never spend another dime on your game. Ever.

I don't lie like you do, so I hope you get enough new paying players to replace those of us who feel this way because I am pretty sure you all need money to live.

At first, I was excited about 3PV. Now, I could take snappy pics of my rigs. I actually -wanted- to buy paints and camo now. I even tried to play off the advantage that 3PV gives over the 1PVers.

Having downloaded the patch, I come to find out that I not only can't have my snappy screenshots of my freshly painted mech, I can't even have a good game because people will be peeking around corners on me in 3PV.

I'm disappointed. Like people have said, if this was for the n00bs, why not just have this option available in the Training Grounds? Let's face it, Training Grounds is where these new folks belong; if they queue live, not knowing how to drive a mech, they deserve to get their butts handed to them.

I'm disappointed in the fact that I bought into the Phoenix Package and now I'm still stuck with either looking through a cockpit window or my Battlemaster's big, honkin behind.

I'm not as disappointed as the Founders though. I feel sorry for them they got done like this. :P

This is definitely something that needs to be reevaluated, IMHO.

I was in my hunchback not long ago testing to medium buffs and I decided to try and see if how bad I could abuse 3pv to peek around. It's pretty good at doing that but while I was moving around, I completely lost track of my legs. I normally use my radar to orient myself so I had to use the heading indicator instead, but it took me a few seconds of flailing around to catch myself. A new player would be completely lost. Even on a medium, the legs are offscreen.

Then you obviously don't play in organised teams, or particularly well from a team perspective. This is game breaking.

Its a new player learning tool. I was worried it would be bad, but dangit people, 3PV is a simplified and less complicated way to LEARN the game.

Let me say it again.

It lets new guys LEARN the game.

Learn.

It is a learning tool! I'm only going to use it to admire my glorious Awesome as it charges forward, only to switch to 1PV as soon as battle is joined, because that makes sense.

Learning/Enjoying your mechs backside tool.

I am not quitting the game, but I for certain won't support it anymore with my money. I can't trust developers who so blatantly state one thing and then do another, and ignore the many time repeated opinion of the community, confirmed by several polls. I have seen the 3pv and it's nothing special, I'd say it's useless even, but it's a matter of principle. From now on I won't believe a word of what I read in the Command Chair and I won't spend a single dollar on the game until the attitude here changes significantly. This is not how you do things if you want to be respected.
