No, it doesn't solve 3PV problems, but it would help.

Judging by past action of this dev team you are most likely right. But to add to the conversation, when your drone gets shot and dies you suffer 35 internal CT damage.

If they did this, then I would be fine with 3PV, then you can give them the free arm movement, radar, and all that stuff, as long as people can't use it to periscope I will be happy.
Also, any one who says 3PV doesn't give you an advantage, then you are doing it wrong.

But if you think that if the drone is visible the mech can be targeted, then reverse should also be possible as well (the mech can target any mech it can see with its drone). But I have a feeling you wouldn't want it to be on equal footing.
But I would prefer a 1 minute cooldown between switching view modes to deal with the "peek-a-boo" while regaining the navigational elements of the mini-map, having the same torso twist speed, and work out a better alternative to the jumping reticle.

I go to the forums and people are tearing their hair out about this.
I play the game and nobody says anything, nor does the game play differently.
I go to the forums and people keep posting screenshots of a player seeing something he'd be able to figure out anyway.
I play the game and can count on one hand, over a week, that I'd seen a drone.
So strange.

How's this so different?
I really don't get why this is causing so much trouble. If it gives an advantage, by god, use it.

Quite simply, it changes the way that the game is played in a dramatic way. You won't see it much at the lower levels of play, but when you get to the levels where people are working together, it makes the game much more boring and stagnate.
Imagine two opponents, hiding behind their hills "peeking" in 3PV. Just waiting for a chance to pop up and snipe each other.
Many of us have already seen what happens to game play in MW4. Without the ability to restrict it out of games where it isn't wanted, it becomes a dark place that a lot of us don't want to go back to...
And the whole, "It doesn't give any real advantage" is pure BS. There's a video a couple posts above yours that illustrates it very well.

See my post above. And the Devs appear to be taking the stance that the Hardcore mode may not ever be activated. Thats why people who hate 3PV are angry.

Again, I think this is supposed to happen. I think the intent was to have people buy modules for higher powered drones and what not, but the point is the same. I don't see how having a 5 meter periscope is really killing the game. Maybe the real problem is that people can't risk rushing over the hill because they die too fast?
I understand that if people just stand around and wait all day, the game gets un-fun, and of course, that's bad, even if it is pretty darn realistic. But maybe the little camera over someone's head isn't the real problem.
