And you make very valid points with which I don't entierly disagree. My point is twofold. For starters, taking the founders pack you signed up for a game that you assumed was exactly what you wanted without ever seeing the end product. Had it been named differently, would you have dropped the same money, chanses are no. But I don't want to split hairs - you did make a decision to give them a very sizeable chunk of change for an experience, which they have, to an extent, failed to deliver. So again, I see your argument and they need to be held accountable.

That accountability is, unlike most of the community, not terrorized out of the develloper through threats, insults and all manner of poo flinging. There are ways of excerting pressure without reverting to childish outbursts of threats and insults.

Make a concerted effort in the form of a boycott of premium time, a targetted campaign of civil pressure on PGI and IGP. Not screaming and banging your fists at the doors and posting inflamatory "proof" that only pushes PGI further into seclusion.

For now, all these so-called hardcore fans have acted in such a way as to alienate PGI and the community and acted in the best way to drive the game into the ground. I've already seen this happen before, in EVE. A small but belligerent group of "enthousiasts" who agitated the community and almost brough the whole house down, they were called the goons. We all know that lots of them play this game, we all know what they are and we all know how they like to grief.

My feeling is that there are problems but certain people are compounding them. We're supposed to be in Beta, giving feedback. At this point, no feedback given to PGI is free of toxic diatrabe - why would they listen when everytime they ask for feedback it's delivered in the form of a flaming bag of poop? It's kind of a vicious circle and someone has got to break it, since these so-called fans care so much about the game, why don't they act in it's best intrests? They latched onto a valid mouvment and made it into a riot, no wonder the community and PGI aren't seeing eye-to-eye.

You know, it is PGI's responsibility to maintain a good relationship with the community. Do you think if they had been more interactive and open that these crisis would have reached this level?

Sure, there are always some mopes who carry it too far and make threats of violence. They should be dealt with harshly.

But PGI has to be able to filter that kind of noise out, not use it as an excuse to ignore the rest of us who have a grievance.

Everyone who reads this so called Creative Director Update, should be able to see that there is something very very wrong with the PGI/Community relationship.

I honestly don't think PGI understands the depth and seriousness of what they have done here.

Maybe they can come back from it, but I really don't think they know how. They certainly don't appear to be listening to any of the advice that has been given.

This month's CDU is so RP-ish it freezes my brain with its sparkle.

"Guys, we are doing awesome and things will go awesome and we totally will do things so awesomely awesome we hope you too will feel awesome. By "you" we mean the silent majority. This is going to be so super awesome. Like totally!"

At least it's a well worded post, carefully tailored, which is good to see.

However, I am skeptical about all this positiveness.
For example, it's strange that 3PV is doing super great (their words) when we barely see anyone using it consistently. Am also worried that the devs themselves doubted that a split queue would have enough players to be viable, in other words, too few active players in Summer time (not enough players overall)! I wish I would stop encountering the same players whenever I drop... Still, I would be sincerely glad if 3PV and other features did/would indeed contribute to new player retention. Heck, I would be glad if any measure managed to help gathering more active players.

Until we see real metrics, those are only pretty RP words.

Thx for the CDU i apreciate your effort to communicate with your vocal playerbase.

To me Sarahs Mech is the best achievement of the OB, you (PGI/IGP) and the MWO playerbase and a sign that the community is more than willing to spent Money on a good cause/for a good reason.

Though i really feel uncomfortable with the way you handle the game since the start of the OB that begun with an obscure "we (PGI) feel you (Players) didnt tell us the truth" letter.

The most fun experience was the few weeks b4 ECM, since then its a painful experience to accompany the games development as a Player and also as painful to see how the communication efforts get wasted in both directions for a reason i dont understand - as if there is a third Party between you and us/me that does a middleman attack on our communication efforts.

I am truly believing that you write to your community with the best intentions and that you make business decisions with the best intentions.
But how can we communicate when there is in almost every communication since almost a year a hidden sentiment of "Screw You" ?

You are the PROs - its upon YOU to guide the communication to a constructive level and to handle any communication in such a way that (rightfully or not) enraged Players feel treated well.

I percive many attempts to communicate accompanied with many "Screw You" moments that give me many "Scratching Head" moments and atm i would totally expect a "take more showers" response from you and if you dont understand what i mean you cant be helped!

In short - despite all of your efforts the game is not more fun than a year ago and the communication is worse than in CB.

Its upon YOU to find and offer a solution bcs you are the Pros!

Seems to that's exactly what they are saying. Remarkable though how they can immediately tell that this 3rd person rubbish has boosted retention in their target demographic, yet it seems to take weeks and weeks to determine if a weapon need a tiny adjustment.

One week of getting 3rd person feedback>3rd person is perfect!
Months of getting weapon feedback>weapon balancing is terrible.

Ignores poll with 90% against 3rd person and 3000 votes.
Listens to poll with 75% and 2000 votes in favor of buffing SRMs.

You have lied to people who invested multiple times into a 1st person game, and then failed to split. Do you wonder why this thread is bursting with so much negative posts towards PGI, their lies, and 3rd person? Why is this hard to understand? Why aren't these $5million of founders the core fanbase? I seriously hope you learn to understand that you can't just squeeze these people, then go onto another group, especially when that group seems to be teenagers at E3, overwhelmed with new games, and Russ's 10 year old son.

PGI, honestly, why did you stop talking to your community?

We aren't trying to rob you. We're trying to help you.

But it should be obvious by this point that they're going for Arcade Shooter.

Just wait till after launch, we'll have powerups dropping from dead mechs. it'll be Mech Assault all over again

Despite my recent negativity (Ie baffled at PGI's about face on 3pv), I sincerely hope its for the better. Mechwarrior is too great of an IP to make a cash cow out of! C'mon PGI get back to the closed beta roots I sponsored you for!

Don't let me down. I may have asked for a phoenix refund but im not against showing you financial support when you truly deserve it!

So meet me halfway and ill pave the rest with that sexy monopoly money us Canadians have!

The fact that the overall payout is LOWER, will make ALL newbies who play this game suffer MUCH LONGER until their next variant or mech.. let alone trying to optimize the initial mech they got.

The response is:

"Hey. If you play in premium time and buy some hero 'Mechs, the grind isn't too bad. It is F2P y'know. It's not like it's costing you any money".

I might also add that the later part of your post seems to be encouraging suiciding for those players wishing to grind C-Bills, which for those of us who witnessed such acts in closed beta might seem quite disheartening. The idea that the time I'm giving towards enjoying myself might be ruined by packs of players simply trying to up their C-Bill wallet definitely does not help the hesitation I already feel about my long-term play of the game.

...and while "we barely see anyone using it consistently" there are tons of whining on the forums.

If you read their remarks on the 3pv design, you should know that it was designed not to give any advantages over 1pv. Thats why we barely see it and thats why it is success.

I honestly don't know why there continues to be Goon hate these days.

The Word of Lowtax folks have actually been working pretty hard to improve the game.

I'm not one of them, by the way. Never have been. I find Anders communications extra fun to read also.

I'm outta likes so I'll reply. Indeed, I'd never come across the Goons in game before MWO. When I first heard about them it was like "Oh {Scrap}. Their intention is to pwn CW in/by every way possible/imaginable". The reality however has been that the Word of Lowtax have been some of the most passionate supporters of the game.

You hear the same people say the same things and you think everyone thinks the same things as you.

It's mostly pathetic. If you are all this angry over Mechwarrior, what do you do when no one is looking? [redacted] Cheat on your taxes?

Well everyone does the last and I don't think any of you are actually horrible people, but you all need to take a step back and get some perspective.

If players so wish, they can even increase C-Bill earnings substantially by exiting matches if they are destroyed early, and jumping into a new one.

For example:

If your Mech is destroyed to a roaming band of Jenners early on, you can jump out of that match and into a new one right away – potentially doubling your C-Bills to 1.2 million per hour! This cuts down your time to purchase new Mechs and equipment.

So now players are encouraged to grab a light mech and run continuously into an enemy group, stop, get killed, and rinse/repeat? Bryan! Wake up! You just gave the suicide farmers the green light! :)

The community is very large, and represents a broad segment of players. There are vocal minorities and silent majorities on all subjects and we always have to balance between these groups.

I generally would call myself a member of the "Silent Majorities" however, I feel I must speak up on this part of your post.

Your post implies that just because one group is vocal while the other is silent then they must not agree. While I do not always agree with the vocal crowd sometimes I do. The problem begins when you start to assume that silence simply means that we accept and agree with the direction of the game itself as this is not always the case.

This kind of mindset can be fatal to the games future.

What I propose is to incorporate polls into the home screen or mechbay screen in game. If done right it can provide a unobtrusive way to obtain valuable feedback from both the vocal and silent community. Also since each member can only vote once you will get genuine results unlike a biased forum thread that has been flooded by one side or the other.

That is all for now, but in the future I would suggest proofreading your posts to avoid sounding condescending towards your fan base. (As has been pointed out there were a few line in there.)
